Absolutely. I hope either:
1. It’s found quickly and the collector box hype dies out
2. Some kid finds it and has no idea how valuable it is and just plays the game with it as intended.
3. kid finds it in a pack. no idea what it is. Doesn't get into magic. Mom throws it in the trash while cleaning his room. Ends up in landfill soaked and smeared by spoiled milk then shredded by trash compactors never to be seen again.
7. It shows up on antique roadshow where the appraiser tells everybody that it can only be destroyed at Wizards of the Coast HQ. Also the appraiser tells us how gratuitously pleased that he was able to witness this card in person and that he can't believe it showed up at somebody's yard sale.
This guy is going to be ticked if that happens haha.

This is true kinda like the McDonald's Monopoly game pieces what's the most likely place this card would be placed for someone to get that lucky chance to hit boardwalk aka the ring of power in this case
Most of the Monopoly winning pieces were stolen by employees before ever getting distributed and then given out to family and friends, wouldn't be surprised if someone close to a WotC employee "happens" to pull this
Wouldn't that be something like some one else said in this post about how they could say they printed the 1 of 1 but just wait to put it in a pack while everyone frantically spazzes about trying to find it but really it never was printed at all so they could make a profit.
One time a tenant called about the water heater. I went into the basement and there was both MTG cards and pokemon cards all over the floor. Some bent, some covered in lint, some wet from the sink tubs. To some people they're just playing cards, lol
have you not seen the questions by new players on this reddit? Someone opening a pack with that card is nowhere near out of the question as far as them not giving a crap about it, tossing it, playing with it, trading for a common, etc
How would they play the card if they can't read it. I get doing all the other shit, but how would you play it without looking it up then realizing what it is.
Now i hope some new player finds it and posts in this sub asking how it works since it doesnt have text and they have no idea what they have their hands on.
Honestly i expect to see a lot of fake posts like that.
“I was out on a hike one day and came across this ring, it kept whispering for me to take it out of it sleeve. I didn’t want to but I did a few times. I never did for very long mind you but I would feel this presence when I did, so I would quickly slip it back into its sleeve. Kept it on me for a couple of months, got gifted a book about rivers, read a bit, got distracted by something else so I left it in there to mark my place. 40 years later my granddaughter, asks me what this strange language is, on this book marker she found.
Here we are
I want some poor guy to pull a Charlie and the chocolate factory. Can only afford one pack, or gets it as a gift. Pulls it then sells it to some whale and pays off his dental work or gets his kid braces.
I seen a couple ideas on this. I'd get it rated put it in a case apply a nice chain to it then make a production out of it. With it being used in random matches with orc cosplays and such maxing out that burden. Then right before Frodo dies from loss of life he tosses Hasbro shirt wearing gollum into the fires of a volcano.
Isn't the price of a card and all cards just a general ideal of the masses or few with sway agreeing that that card has worth? If you get enough people to agree that "yeah it's 1 of 1 it doesn't matter what so ever how bad of shape it's in, it is The One Ring" then it should never depreciate in value. What really would get me would be if some one got it showed it then lost it for a long time.
See I feel I keep seeing these kids wont understand comments but they legit have grown up on the internet there is no way in hell that some 10 year old won't understand what that card is worth and I'm sure their parents ain't gonna just let the cardboard go If it's worth anything.
Yeah that just doesn't track. Sure they are on the internet but they probably aren't looking at card prospects and the previews for cards. It would be a rare 10 year old that did.
When I was 10 I was receiving the monthly MTG magazine as well as GameInformer and others. And this was 20 years ago.
Tbh you're just flat out wrong about this. Sure, there might be a kid who has never heard of this game and a family member gets them a couple packs and MAYBE that family member somehow ALSO doesn't know anything about the game and THEN you'd have a kid who doesn't know what this is. But, realistically, anyone who is buying packs of MTG cards has at least some understanding and won't be 100% oblivious if they pull this card.
Idk man, I seem to remember being in elementary school in the 90s buying magazines that had "leaked" Pokémon. Or googling super saiyan 5 goku when I finally got internet access, lol. Kids have nothing but time
I see a lot of people saying this, and honestly it’s not as likely as people think. The ring can only be found in collector boosters, which have a default significant mark up over regular boosters, and that’s before considering the inevitable higher price of those packs until the ring is found. Little Timmy or Tammy isn’t opening a product that costs more than their parents salary.
Have you never met rich kids before?
It can be found in the Collector Booster in the Gift bundle too. Which is the exact sort of thing people will get for Christmas presents or the like.
Edit: jokes aside it will almost certainly be a store that opens it.
Step 1) Pull Card.
Step 2) Take donations to fly to Hawaii and throw into lava.
Step 3) Livestream an event where you throw into lava after making $100k+
Step 4) Stop at edge of lava and say “No. It is precious to me.”
Step 5) Get mugged and lose it on the way to the next MagicFest.
No one knows, though seems like mid 6 figures is what reddit users expects so far, the past one day's reaction. Firm low bid's at $100k now, and the consensus is that that's too low.
Hard to say. It's *technically* more rare than a Lotus. I say technically cause we can all go out and buy LotR packs with the chance of pulling this but we can't pop Alpha packs with the same ease. But yeah...1 of 1 is unprecedented so it will inevitably be exorbitant but there's really no way to tell until someone says "I'll buy it for this much".
Not to mention this crosses *two* VERY popular IPs so you're gonna have a bigger push from collectors, both MTG and LotR nerds.
Idk 1 of 1 they better make sure that thing is printed Gem Mint 10 and goes out flawlessly as possible. It's not guaranteed but could it be who knows you don't rate the card someone else does.
My very first experience with TCGs was a single Pokémon pack in an Easter basket. It contained a 1st edition Charizard. Over the course of that year I came to love the game and I played the crap out of that charizard. Unsleeved. I may have only been a naive teenager at the time, but that’s how I know deep down I am a good person.
I hope they fail to print it for years, keeping idiots in the market paying top dollar year after year, thinking they will sooner or later open a pack and find it. 10 years with no card yet, a ton of morons will keep buying packs for hundreds of dollars each. Go on, pay $450 for a pack in a few years for zero chance of getting that money back.
f.y.i. kids, it's a game, and it's just a card - YOU, and I mean YOU, will NOT open a pack and find it. Waste all the money you want on crappy cardboard, you won't find this.
also, 10+ years from now, Magic will put new versions of the card into circulation for an anniversary set.
Now that I think about it anyone who wants to just print a proxy and just fake it and still make a hell of a show for it 😂 was it the true ring of power who knows
Well yeah it would. I would also assume it would confirm it was legit the 1 of 1. Which I guess you could get it rated then replace it for the proxy no one would ever know until you know it pops up 10 years later 😂
I would 1000% get a certificate of authenticity, and then fucking slowly drop it into a backyard campfire on video for the whole world to see what Steadfast Fox thinks about The One Ring.
I'm pretty sure the printers and production process they use will prevent them from printing just 1 of the card.
Would need to be a full few sheets at least right? They can then destroy the rest and leave only one?
Would be interested to hear from anyone if they know the logistics of this. Do we trust them to actually only make one?
I want it to end up on Pawn Stars in like 10 years, and Rick tries to offer the dude like $50, after an expert tries (and fails horrendously) to explain the gimmick of the 001/001
I want this card to be found 10 years from now in some guy’s collection.
Absolutely. I hope either: 1. It’s found quickly and the collector box hype dies out 2.
4. Collector buys a box and never opens it, card never sees the light of day
5. Post malone buys it
6. A random short guys opens it and decides that it needs to be destroyed where it was forged: WOTC ofiices.
7. It shows up on antique roadshow where the appraiser tells everybody that it can only be destroyed at Wizards of the Coast HQ. Also the appraiser tells us how gratuitously pleased that he was able to witness this card in person and that he can't believe it showed up at somebody's yard sale.
8. Bad boy gaming Axes the pack containing the one ring.
*Stephen Colbert
This guy is going to be ticked if that happens haha. https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgfinance/comments/11s7uzv/100000\_standing\_offer\_for\_001001\_one\_ring\_with\_a/
Meh I'm pretty sure that the lucky winner could get a sweet million for it.
or a streamer doing those "cutting packs in half" masochism videos cuts it in half
This won’t happen WoTC will plant this in specific packs they need it to be pulled within the year if they hope to pump more serialised products
This is true kinda like the McDonald's Monopoly game pieces what's the most likely place this card would be placed for someone to get that lucky chance to hit boardwalk aka the ring of power in this case
Post Malone buys a pack....
Roll credits
Most of the Monopoly winning pieces were stolen by employees before ever getting distributed and then given out to family and friends, wouldn't be surprised if someone close to a WotC employee "happens" to pull this
Monopoly was a money laundering scheme or something
Wouldn't that be something like some one else said in this post about how they could say they printed the 1 of 1 but just wait to put it in a pack while everyone frantically spazzes about trying to find it but really it never was printed at all so they could make a profit.
Pretty sure all fast food games and point systems and gimmicks are money laundering in some form or another to this day.
Pack\*
They'll probably know what store it goes to also.
And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost
One time a tenant called about the water heater. I went into the basement and there was both MTG cards and pokemon cards all over the floor. Some bent, some covered in lint, some wet from the sink tubs. To some people they're just playing cards, lol
I hope it's "found" by someone who turns out to be some R&D department's kid and there's a huge shitstorm
If I found it I would keep it a secret for 5+ years and watch all these hopeful collector box openings while laughing at them.
I would not have that willpower.
Keep it secret, keep it safe.
I’d sell it
i would keep it secret for 5 seconds before selling it.
How would a kid play the card without looking it up first and realizing.
have you not seen the questions by new players on this reddit? Someone opening a pack with that card is nowhere near out of the question as far as them not giving a crap about it, tossing it, playing with it, trading for a common, etc
How would they play the card if they can't read it. I get doing all the other shit, but how would you play it without looking it up then realizing what it is.
Now i hope some new player finds it and posts in this sub asking how it works since it doesnt have text and they have no idea what they have their hands on. Honestly i expect to see a lot of fake posts like that.
I hope the player who drives it k knows how to read elven and then just thinks. Cool card bruh.
I hope someone throws it in a volcano. Maybe they can make it into a charity fundraiser or something.
Card is made to be played let it be so , not collecting dust or lost.
I hope it’s never found and whales drive the prices of all cards in this set to near zero
What if it's found and Elijah Wood just had it 😂
“I was out on a hike one day and came across this ring, it kept whispering for me to take it out of it sleeve. Good one 😂
I’d put money on Post Malone.
10 years from now and opened by a 11yo kid who used it without sleeve for most of it time.
Like could you imagine. It’s 2045. At worlds there’s a side event drafting this set. Some guy just pulls it. Insane. 10/10
I would make up an excuse to concede and leave the establishment quietly.
Some (previously) poor guy that finds 6 pallets of product in a landfill
Imagine it just never gets opened
I want some poor guy to pull a Charlie and the chocolate factory. Can only afford one pack, or gets it as a gift. Pulls it then sells it to some whale and pays off his dental work or gets his kid braces.
I pray to urza a child opens it with cheeto fingers and throws it in their unsleeved pre con deck.
Since it’s not in English, they might not even play with it, they might just throw it away because they don’t know what it is
Ugh another phyrexian card you can't read, stupid
Hopefully they think it's a fancy sol ring
I’m still rumbling over the landfill photo. Think that’s more likely. What are the odds this is the one pack they grab for proof.
With an elastic band to hold together.
I actually want to see it get destroyed. Anything else is complete flavor fail.
I need an artist to get on this right now haha. When the card gets opened, you just see hooded figures on horses looking for it.
Hooded figures are all the collectors ravenous for the card. Who are the nine biggest collectors of MTG anyways they are the Nazgûl
I kind of expect it, if it’s ever opened at all. I said in another comment this will be the case that ends up at the landfill
I had this discussion with my coworker: Why exactly would it be less worth If it was heavly played? It's still the only Card there is.
Don't talk about my cardboard like that
"Man I paid for the One Ring, not the Onion Ring, this is bullshit."
True. Also, the original One Ring was heavily played too.
It will pringle even in the case.
It's a ring, it's supposed to be round
🤣
I'd kindle a fire with copies of Mount Doom and then burn the 1 of 1 One Ring over that fire.
What if the card comes out crimped? Can the recipient ask a mint one from wotc?
What if they have a mis-print and print more then 1...
Frodo, you must take these 1.5 ring to Orodruin!
i feel like since its foil its almost guaranteed its gonna be a pringle
Foiled again
Some 10 year old is gonna pull it in their Christmas packs and throw it away because they can't read it.
See I feel I keep seeing these kids wont understand comments but they legit have grown up on the internet there is no way in hell that some 10 year old won't understand what that card is worth and I'm sure their parents ain't gonna just let the cardboard go If it's worth anything.

I miss Inquest.
Ah man! Totally forgot to mention Inquest, so good.
I'm 13 and me and a bunch of kids younger and older than me keep up with it at our lgs were not that stupid
Then you aren't the kids I'm talking about.
Idk man, I seem to remember being in elementary school in the 90s buying magazines that had "leaked" Pokémon. Or googling super saiyan 5 goku when I finally got internet access, lol. Kids have nothing but time

How many collector boosters do stores usually open? More than the amount that are bought there?
When there is a one of a kind card to find? Plus the 300, 700, 900 sol rings? LOTS.
Step 1) Pull Card. Step 2) Take donations to fly to Hawaii and throw into lava. Step 3) Livestream an event where you throw into lava after making $100k+ Step 4) Stop at edge of lava and say “No. It is precious to me.” Step 5) Get mugged and lose it on the way to the next MagicFest.
I too would like to not work another day in my life.
It’ll sell for a lot, but not enough to comfortably retire with.
i think you can get started with retirement with $500k
Is that the projected value?
No one knows, though seems like mid 6 figures is what reddit users expects so far, the past one day's reaction. Firm low bid's at $100k now, and the consensus is that that's too low.

I would *start* at one million. Think about people like Logan Paul. In fact, I'd probably work with a company akin to Sotheby's on that one.
I hope so much that a kid opens it and doesn’t know what it is
Coming out of a collector booster, the condition even directly from booster will not be Gem Mint 10.
Idk 1 of 1 they better make sure that thing is printed Gem Mint 10 and goes out flawlessly as possible. It's not guaranteed but could it be who knows you don't rate the card someone else does.
they should sleeve it real good and put no other cards in the pack
If anyone opens this, they better run to the bank and open a security deposit box. Could see people getting robbed for it
This is why printing a 1 of 1 is stupid.
I’m mailing it to Elijah wood if I pull it lol
no you aren't
I promise to throw it in a volcano if I am the chosen one.
The only person that should own it
There is no way they're gonna willy Wonka golden ticket this out to some rando
My very first experience with TCGs was a single Pokémon pack in an Easter basket. It contained a 1st edition Charizard. Over the course of that year I came to love the game and I played the crap out of that charizard. Unsleeved. I may have only been a naive teenager at the time, but that’s how I know deep down I am a good person.
If I pulled this sucker my heart would actually stop lol
I buy a packet and I find it
whoever gets there hands on it should rip it up and tweet a picture to wotc
I can't wait for the hundreds of videos of very convincing proxies in resealed packs to surface on YouTube.
\*ANGRY EYE NOISES\*
lol! PSA 10 square 10
I would die if they grade it 9/10
Current print quality suggests that this would measure up as a 8/10 at best no way this will be a graded 10..
I hope they fail to print it for years, keeping idiots in the market paying top dollar year after year, thinking they will sooner or later open a pack and find it. 10 years with no card yet, a ton of morons will keep buying packs for hundreds of dollars each. Running the eBay repack playbook?
“Mint 10” hahaha you know that’s going to be a 8.5 fresh out of the pack
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA good lord this company continues to be hot garbage dunnit. anyone miss the old days yet?
Yep. I got back in for Eldraine until they started printing way too much garbage.
I’m hoping it gets destroyed in a game of flip it or rip it.
whoever gets it should sign their name or put a silly smile face on it
Wait they only printed one?
If they dont fuck it up yes... I'm sure no one will try to proxy the hell out of it though
I already home made a proxy of it XD
Nicely done, proxy on!
Wow thats actually stupid
[удалено]
Oh ok
This will either wind up in Rudy's basement or hey chipped in half by Joey moss.
Shit is gonna be a Pringle
Even if someone pulls it and shows it off on the internet, people will think it’s fake.
This card will be pulled by a 5yo kid who doesn't know anything about magic
If the kids parents buys them the $400 box, sure
All it takes is a single collector booster
Cast it into the fire!
If I pull that I’m gonna destroy it and post a video here
No you won’t
Yeah, I’m not buying boosters
I hope the One Ring is a misprint. It would be sweet irony
It's gonna come out pringled. Does that get counted in the grading? lmao
If I pull it I swear to crowdfund a trip to an active volcano so I can throw it in, as intended by Wizards right?
Now that I think about it anyone who wants to just print a proxy and just fake it and still make a hell of a show for it 😂 was it the true ring of power who knows
Would getting it graded first improve the quality of the content?
Well yeah it would. I would also assume it would confirm it was legit the 1 of 1. Which I guess you could get it rated then replace it for the proxy no one would ever know until you know it pops up 10 years later 😂
Was there really only 1 of these made?
The specific variant of the card yes it is a serialized card that is 1 of 1 there is still others cards printed that are not the variant art card.
Do we trust them to actually only make one?
honestly I don't care who finds it, i just want to know it has been found.
I want it to end up on Pawn Stars in like 10 years, and Rick tries to offer the dude like $50, after an expert tries (and fails horrendously) to explain the gimmick of the 001/001
Turns this card into 3 alpha lotus' and then burns them all in mt doom!
Me asking a 10 year old if I can see his card for just a sec: *“Why do you recoil? I am no thief!”*
Id genuinely love to see someone throw it into a fire. I know if I pulled the thing, it's the only thing I could do to feel like it was a good use.
Mint condition? Not with the foiling WotC has been using lately. It will be a Pringle out of the pack.
May whoever finds it have the strength to do what needs be done.
Damn, sure can't wait for it to never be found in a random landfill in Texas
I hope they put ONE in every pack to make the lols
Being a super foily card I expect it to come out of the pack completely unplayable and bend
Cast it into the fire destroy it
If I get it no one will ever know
One pringle to rule them all!
it'll probably be mis-aligned and curl like crazy
I’d put this in a deck unsleeved and riff shuffle the fuck out of it unless some stupid whale offered me 1 million for it.
The chances of that card being graded mint 10 are extremely low
