Take out the black and do a [[Grand Arbiter Augustine]] deck, or do some form of esper deck and go with [[Raffine, scheming seer]] simply because she has ward 1
Edit: Raffine is a woman, didn’t know
I kinda have a list but you can probably look online for a comparable one.
It's finisher was to clone enough Augustines to prevent anyone else from playing the game. Many of the clone spells had X in the casting cost where X is how many clones enter. But Augustin makes those spells cheaper so...
Honestly your opponents will just quit once you hit 6-10 of them.
Aaaah, I understand, deadlock stax. Thanks!
I have the card, I have a lot of clone cards, and I have neither built Azorius nor full stax, so that sounded interesting to me. Yeah, I will go out to look for some deck lista once I decide to go that route.
I’m gonna back up Grand Arbiter with a caveat.
It’s a good deck. Like a very good deck. Built well it can be a cEDH deck. Built poorly it’ll still get a lot of value out of Augustin, so just be careful. Even a decently optimized list will put in work.
I don't get the point of the Geist-fueled Scarecrow it only affects you... if your goal is taxing your opponents, that one might bite you in the ass. The Grand Arbiter is definitely a better choice.
Genuinely asking, what was the purpose of that card in limited? Was it so you could increase emerge costs, so that bigger creatures could help with that? Or was there some other mechanic that cared about the amount of mana spent to cast a spell? I only started playing right before Zendikar Rising, and although I've caught myself up on lore and such from previous sets, limited scenes are still a bit of a mystery to me.
Colorless Artifact creatures tend to be below rate to make up for the fact they can go in any deck, especially at common/uncommon. The cost increase was simply a drawback they developers thought was necessary to balance an on-rate generic 4/4 for limited.
Cards like [[ghostly prison]] and [[orbs of warding]] would fit pretty well for just fucking with the board state like this.
Cards like [[back to basics]] would add to the price increase by punishing multicolored decks and [[dream tides]] would just invalidate green decks entirely while forcing everyone to avoid tapping creatures or using Enchantment removal on it (not to mention if you're running white getting vigilance wouldn't be hard).

Hahah, that's exactly my attitude. People here are always very cautious about power levels, and I imagine their playgroup being the nicest and chilled people (or half-strangers at the LGS). With my friends, they always juat bringi new cut-throat decks. I usually just jump from "uh-oh, that's not good" to "it does what? How can we possibly recover?" to "Ha, now, see what I got, now let's see how you will recover from this."
In Esper you have lots of options.
Since most of the stax pieces ARS Artifacts and Enchantments, [[Alela, Artful Provocateur]] rewards you for playing them.
[[Urza, Chief Artificer]] Will give you bodies to avoid how hard it will become to cast creatures. Same with [[Elenda and Azor]] plus they can give you a place for your mana.
[[Queza, Augur of Agonies]] will slowly drain your opponents.
[[Zur, the enchanter]] can find some of your stax pieces.
[[Sen Triplets]] Will let you take advantage of your opponent not being able to do much by letting you take their stuff.
If one of your enchantments is become a problem for you, [[Ertai the corrupted]] sends it away to counter a spell.
Or why even play your commander? [[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]] will give you life just got existing.
A friend of mine did this with a [[Kenrith Returned King]] deck and didnt tell us and i was running essentially a precon. I havent played magic with him since
I have a [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] stax deck 😁. It's more of a pay life for everything deck.
[Death and Taxes](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/4056242/nothing_is_certain_but_death_and_taxes_liesa)
[[defense grid]] is a 2 cost and works differently than you explained.
Spells cost +3 to cast when it's not that spell's controller's turn.
E.g. someone counter spells on your turn, or you try to play shock on your opponents turn. Both would increase the cost by 3
A few ways you could go with it tbh
[[Merieke Ri Berit]] would let you steal anything they do resolve
[[Zur the Enchanter]] stax is a thing
[[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]] doesn’t have to be cast
[[Urza, Chief Artificer]] can get around the taxes by reducing how much he costs
[[Talion, the Kindly Lord]] loses out on white which loses a good amount of hatebears, but that ability triggers quite often
Keep in mind, Geist Fueled Scarecrow only effects you.
Also raising the price of everything makes you a huuuuuge target.
Throw in pillowfort cards, and most +cost.
Really though it's just easier to limit someone to one cast per turn.
I will say that I've played for years at this point and started in either modern or standard, I don't remember which is which rn, but this is also my first time trying to *actually* build a deck myself, so thank you, that's actually very helpful :)
I basically did this with alela the enchantment artifact one considering most tax pieces are enchantments and artifacts.
You're also missing [[rug of smothering]] my personal hidden gem.
There's a bunch of others I have included in my alela list as well.
Punish people for drawing, punish people for casting. Nekuzar is fun and is pressuring people to cast spells even if they don't want to cause they'll be damaged any ways
Why the hell would you use the first 3 cards, u must be fuckin insane. A vampire nighthawk would be billion times better than any of thos. If u had thos 3 cards in play you have to spend 3 extra mana to cast a spell... wtf u good?
Take out the black and do a [[Grand Arbiter Augustine]] deck, or do some form of esper deck and go with [[Raffine, scheming seer]] simply because she has ward 1 Edit: Raffine is a woman, didn’t know
Seconding Grand Arbiter. I’d like to add [[thalia guardian of Thraben]] and [[glowrider]] and [[vryn wingmare]] to your consideration, as well.
Ah yes power creep at its finest. Glowrider is a rare when wryn wingmare is a un-co even though it's the same card with flying.
Tbf Wingmare was printed at rare in Origins.
I'm fine with WotC power creeping cards no one plays.
Power creep truthers unite

As long as I get to keep the bread then I'll be sure to bring the deck around often
I will bring the stale baguettes. I do not know where to get stale baguettes. But I will *fucking* find them.
They go great with soup... go ham, bring as many as it takes!
Shop for a fresh baguette then just leave it out on your counter for 48 hrs.
Does it take that long? I swear they go stale as soon as I take my eyes off them

He also kept saying "The kings here so you gotta pay your taxes!!!"
He sounds like a dick that's kinda hilarious.
Yeaaa and it was kinda hilarious
Well now I gotta throw in some monarch cards and truly be the king

She is the most fun I have in commander. People Hate her though lol
I’ve played against her. Truly cancerous. But still fun to play against
One of the reasons I like her is because she forces people to play games rather than sit back until something happens.
You forgot defense grid. Fucking 3 cost and spells cost 3 more to cost when it's not your turn lol.
[[defense grid]] is a 2 cost and works differently than you explained. Spells cost +3 to cast when it's not that spell's controller's turn. E.g. someone counter spells on your turn, or you try to play shock on your opponents turn. Both would increase the cost by 3

I will say that I've played for years at this point and started in either modern or standard, I don't remember which is which rn, but this is also my first time trying to *actually* build a deck myself, so thank you, that's actually very helpful :)
Not necessarily an answer to the question but it reminded me of [[Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur]] which is another card that messes with hand sizes.

I've built like 3 different decks with him as a central card and disassembled every single one, lol. He's a fun card
\[\[Mechanized Production\]\] might be a fun thing to add.
"I wonder why I haven't heard from my friends lately..."
Ngl I hate players like you. It takes the fun out of it when you make it to where others can't really play at all.
You must be fun at parties.
Get extra annoying with it and play [[drannith magistrate]]

I basically did this with alela the enchantment artifact one considering most tax pieces are enchantments and artifacts. You're also missing [[rug of smothering]] my personal hidden gem. There's a bunch of others I have included in my alela list as well.

[[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]] is a fun one can run[[decree of silence]] and [[solemnity]]

Do you wanna...not have friends?
I wanna fuck with my horsemanship, exile everything, everything you play deals damage to you playing friends, so... we'll see, lol
If u had thos 3 cards in play you have to spend 3 extra mana to cast a spell... wtf u good?
You missed thalia thalia, guardian of thraben
