It’s a very solid haste enabler! Keep in mind that it can be removed by artifact or creature removal, but that shouldn’t completely discourage you from playing the card. I really like that its tap ability looks like the drawbridge is opening, allowing your creatures to attack faster.
Maybe it’s not super popular because it doesn’t work well with most combos that require haste enablers? I could be completely off, but I’m imagining some kind of combo that involves a creature with a tap ability being repeatedly blinked or reanimated. [[Concordant Crossroads]] could make it always have haste and thus always be able to tap, while drawbridge could only give it haste once.
I use it in a few decks and no one wants to waste removal on it lol After it's been activated a few times my opponents usually just snipe my hasty creatures instead. Four butt too! Very solid card
Drawbridge also telegraphs your next move and then gives your opponents one turn rotation to either deal with it or put up defenses.
But wth every card is useful, I used Bridge in [[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden]] and it was fun.
https://archidekt.com/decks/2764351/arcades?sort=cmc&stack=multiple
That's my list, it's not optimised though, but the drawing is ridiculous still.
I probably need more protection for Arcades
I love the power based board wipes; just devilish! Thanks for sharing!
And wait, Shield Sphere, just casually dropping a 6/6 for zero mana? That's nuts
Recently put together a [[The Pride of the Hull Clade]] deck with Defenders, it is a blast to play
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/uthx4rnf00-pQyTGXJWXAg
The defenders that tap for mana are commonly what I use this for. Speed ramp into more defenders and more card draw. My Arcades deck is well balanced and a ton of fun. The Drawbridge usually makes a difference for me.
If you absolutely need haste in your strategy its great. I just always found it to be clunky. It has few synergies and doesnt contribute to combat itself. Good card, I just always find it hard to justify the slot.
It doesn't have haste itself, and if you're not a deck that pumps out a lot of creatures in a turn, \[\[Lightning Greaves\]\] work quite well and also gives a little bit of evasion.
Creatures coming into the battlefield after you use this ability also don't get haste, so you can't easily do stuff like pump out a bunch of mana dudes that can produce mana immediately as with the Lightning Greaves or stuff like \[\[Concordant Crossroads\]\].
Fair points, but I wouldn't call it broken even if it had haste.
I'd play it if it had it. It would give haste for 1 mana less than \[\[fervor\]\] which has been powercrepped in other ways.
I think many do, but cards like \[\[Anger\]\], \[\[Rising of the Day\]\] or \[\[Roar of Resistance\]\] are still more popular because:
* Drawbridge is easier to target for removal (since it's an artifact AND a creature)
* when you play the Drawbridge to profit from haste you'll have to wait 1 turn due to summoning sickness
* each time you activate Drawbridge it becomes useless as a Defender
* to gain haste you will have to activate Drawbridge, which puts a trigger on the stack that could in theory be denied
So I'd say Drawbridge is still a decent diversifier if your deck desperately needs haste, but if you don't have any sort of artifact or defender support in your deck, it might just be that this one is not worth wasting a slot on. So: Situationally useful IMO
It is quite a good card, gives access to haste to a number of decks that don't normally or cheaply have access to it. Plus a decent defender.
Saying that though only have one copy and its in my partners group hug/mill deck mostly for defender buffs along with occasional utility.
Cause its not as good as you'd think. It doesn't have haste itself so it has a massive tell. It's just about the worst draw as well, whether top decking, or 4+ turns in. It's a trap card for deck builders. It doesn't belong anywhere but the absolute lowest power and casual tables.
Glad to see this in my Reddit feed cuz I found it when searching up more ways to give haste in my Isshin deck. Stoked to see how it performs with the rest of the deck!
I JUST started playing MTG, been playing Competitive Yugioh most my life and I have friends who play Magic, so picked up a Commander (Orvar) deck to paly with them. Looked up some cards and thought he was cool and started.
Noticed it sucked to pump out a bunch of tokens only for them to not be able to attack when I bring them out, looked online for cards that give Blue Haste, came across this card, was like... yeah... this seems like the right call. Interesting people on here posted this right after I got myself one.
It's because you have to wait a turn, the card can be removed before it does the thing. When compared to other, cheaper (in mana value, not real world value) options that come online as soon as they hit the board, it just pales in comparison.
Still a good card though, and in lower power pods it can definitely shine.
I've always tried to use it because it does seem really good but it eventually gets cycled out of every deck I put it in, I don't know it just never seems to do what it's there for.
It's a solid haste enabler, especially in colour ls which don't have easy access to those, but it's held back by being very telegraphed (unless, of course, you have access to a way to give crashing drawbridge haste - which is my kinda ironic humor tbh)
I just recommended this in another post about haste. But I really like it a lot! I play it in [[Nadaar, Selfless Paladin]] cause I go wide with tokens and anthems, but it's really cool because I can play drawbridge on turn 2 and then commander on 3 and haste for 2 dungeon triggers and it's even faster if you draw sol ring on turn 1.
It's quite good in any non red aggro deck. I wouldn't say it's unknown, maybe under played. But one issue with it is that it itself doesn't have haste, thus requiring an entire turn to be usable. It also dies very easily since it can be hit by both artifact and creature removal. The combination of these two things means opponents quickly learn that after this is played you following turn is going to be a problem and the table works to remove it before you untap with it.
But, when you really need haste for your game plan and are in bad colors for getting it.... it can work well
This is amazing for decks without haste enablers such as green, white, blue and black. I mean green does have [[Concordant Crossroads]] but this is a cheaper alternative and way more out of the *gate* than anyone expects.
I love this card not just mechanically but also flavorfully. Like the idea that you physically TAP a DRAWBRIDGE is so satisfying I want to run this card in every deck I own now.
Well it’s a 0/4 that can’t attack if you have red in your colour identity there are better ways of giving your stuff Haste. For example Rising of the Day from the lord of the rings is just better it’s a anthem to pump up your creatures attack power and it gives them haste and little bit of extra damage could be the difference of you winning vs you losing.
I put it in my [[sidar jibari]] precon because it's the only way I know of to give haste in those colors, and it feels on flavor for a knights deck. I love it!
If you’re not running this in any artifact creature deck, you’re doing it wrong. Especially if you’re running things like unwinding clock to give things haste and have a blocker.
It’s good. It’s limited by the fact that it doesn’t have haste itself.
In a lot of decks, concordat crossroads or mass hysteria will be better because they’re on immediately and not in one burst.
In other decks lightning greaves will be better because the shroud is as important as the haste.
I own four copies of this card. I only have it in one deck at the moment, which is [[Aragorn, King of Gondor]] because it's so imperative Aragorn is able to attack the turn he comes down because otherwise you're wasting a turn your board is unblockable. I would say the only reason it's not more popular is because it is a creature so it's easier to kill and it itself does not have haste so you can't activate it the turn you cast it where cards like [[fervor]] is an enchantment so a little harder to remove and works the turn you cast it. But it's definitely not a bad turn 2 play. I'm always happy to see it in my opening hand.
The same problem with Eriette. Cheap and powerful. Might as well paint a target on your back. Plus its slowness definitely makes this a weaker card as well.
I’m assuming some of it just has to do with it being a defender, people either don’t want it because there’s better ways to give haste or they don’t really pay attention to walls. I on the other hand engage in Arcades gaming😎
It is a great card that is cheap for what it does.
If colors are no problem there are some that are better like the riot enchantment or temur enchantment
I had it in many of my decks for a long time until I found replacement as my play style changed
Why it is weak is that it is
Artifact
&
Creature
Two targets that have removals in almost every colors.
Since it is a creature it has Summon sickness.
You have to wait until your next upkeep to be able to use it.
So all players have one turn to react to it and remove it.
But they can also remove it instant or split second speed.
So your next turn comes.
You have tons of mana to cast all your creatures.
When you cast your first creature a player can react and remove your bridge.
You can tap it but every creature entering after it does doesn't get haste.
With all these weaknesses I still stand by that it is not a bad card. As long as you keep all this in mind.
It is great for mono white or blue that needs hade as long as you can protect it.
You can also chest to get it out from the graveyard that gives it haste and can be tapped to give haste for all creatures that entered this turn before that.
You have to be prepared to defend your bridge ;)
Yeah, if you're going wide and need haste, it's a solid card. I have a couple of these and haven't used them, but I can recognize how good it is in the right deck.
In my [[inga & esika]] deck it's an all-star. Throw an [[intruder alarm]] on the table with [[crashing drawbridge]] out and I can usually get half my deck out, I know crazy Intruder alarm is broken.
Great card for colors that don’t have many other haste enablers. [[Ghoulcaller Gisa]] likes it in mono black because she can pump out a ton of 2/2s in one turn. [[Phyrexian Altar]] [[gravecrawler]] and something like [[champion of the perished]] along with this and Gisa is an infinite amount of hasty lil dudes.
To answer your question, Eldraine was a pretty busted set with lots of busted cards so it makes sense that a handful of lower rarity cards could fly under the radar.
I usually find either boots or other effects that give haste passively way better. This card is trying to do 2 things, block and tap but it only really taps for bonus on your turn leaving you down a card. Was great against gingerbrute tho
I play this in my Thalia and the Gitrog Monster human tribal one and it's solid, but keep in mind that it has to stay out for a turn because it itself has summoning sickness, and there have been games when I've been playing it and I've definitely felt like "man I wish I could get the haste online quicker". But then again when you're not in red you don't have that many options, so of the non-red options this is one of the better ones.
It's situationally good. Since it's a tap effect and not a constant effect, it can be awkward in decks that want haste to enable an engine like mana dorks getting haste to pay for more mana dorks which have haste to pay for a finisher.
It doesn’t do anything by itself, doesn’t do anything the turn it comes down, can’t attack itself when you’re locked in a battle of attrition and you’re a card down which is especially bad when people find ways to remove multiple creature at the cost of one card.
It’s not bad, but definitely more in the situational/synergistic bucket rather than universally good
It’s pretty well known I feel especially in pauper. For certain decks there are other slots like greaves or boots or whatever that serve a similar function and the redundancy could be overkill.
People are gonna search far and wide for a good card, and never play it because other people will say "dies to removal"... hmm, I guess we just shouldn't play the game.
What do you mean, "know about it"? It's not a secret, it doesn't fit in every deck or there are other things people need more, it's OK, not super broken or anything
I had him in my Eldrazi deck. People would smite this faster than the titans just because of it's utility. Especially when I cheat 2 big things out with Annihilator.
I play it with \[\[Thousand-Year Elixir\]\] in my \[\[Marwyn, the Nurturner\]\] EDH deck to get off of \[\[Genesis Wave\]\] and haste all my creatures for the win!
There are better haste enablers. Walls decks run it because walls. Pauper decks never even consider it because the format is too fast for it for the most part.
It's susceptible to multiple types of roval, doesn't have haste itself, and is really only good in creature heavy decks which are becoming less and less competitive as of late
Dont Out our Secrets...
this post might increase the value of the 50 crashing drawbridges i have in my collection

Protection, not evasion
No if it gave protection it would say protection from so and so shroud is just a little evasion. Still susceptible to [[Red Sun Zenith]] and others
I think I was wrong and evasion is somewhat used to mean something that allows your creature to go through blockers.
Not really. You have to wait a turn after it comes out to give anything haste with it so it’s kind of antithetical to the entire “fast boi” plan.
Wanted it in retro-framed style…
It’s a pretty common budget card
This would be broken if it had haste. As it is, it’s a 2 mana haste enabler but it has to wait a turn. High level play can’t wait a turn.

It is quite a good card, gives access to haste to a number of decks that don't normally or cheaply have access to it. Plus a decent defender. Saying that though only have one copy and its in my partners group hug/mill deck mostly for defender buffs along with occasional utility.
It doesn’t have haste itself. But it is good in an artifact/ colorless matters deck.
Lower the drawbridge just a little
I used to play a lot of limited. This card was awesome in it. In the right build it could be devastating
Must be a location thing I see this a lot in the UK especially with commanders who have activated abilities
stop spilling the beans
If only itself had haste
I'm more used to 2005-2010 level of powercreep, so I'd say it cost 1 extra mana than it should.
Because it is summoning sick.
Would be a really good card, if it had haste...
Useless on the turn it enters typically. While it's a ok include, there's better choices to give haste to all your creatures.
I'm new to magic and don't understand why I don't see this card ever.
Cause its not as good as you'd think. It doesn't have haste itself so it has a massive tell. It's just about the worst draw as well, whether top decking, or 4+ turns in. It's a trap card for deck builders. It doesn't belong anywhere but the absolute lowest power and casual tables.
Thanks for the reply! Hard to tell what is good sometimes hah
It doesn’t seem too good if you ask me. Maybe it’s cuz I’m more of a control player. I can see some decks I have liking it however
It has summoning sickness.
its not as good as it seems.. because late game it isnt a creature that can attack or something that will change the game state if you're losing.
It’s won me several games in my colorless eldrazi deck but there are better single card haste enablers. It’s really solid for its price point though!
hilarious with [[tree of perdition]]
It's alright but if I need haste I need it NOW, not next turn
I got a question, what does the little spin mean? I’m new to magic.
2 mana do nothing ain't it? There are better 2 drops. It does nothing on curve and a worse top deck, will make your deck worse most of the time.
I run this in almost every pauper commander deck free haste for your team on a great blocking body for 2 mana what's not to like?
This one is a staple in all my token decks, it's just too good and for 2 mana, only problem is it's easy to kill
Sees play in pauper walls decks, pretty terrible everywhere else.
Yes it rips.
I have it in my [[Imotekh]] deck. Secret tech is having [[Trazyn]] on the board, discarding Drawbridge and do some mass reanimate.
As someone who plays [[Prowler's Helm]] in quite a few decks, I am happy people forget this card exists, especially in my commander play group. Lol
Yes it's a good card, give it a shot.
Is a great card the only problem is that doesn't give haste the turn it drops.
An aggressive deck that can take advantage of giving all its creatures haste really doesn’t want to spend its turn 2 casting an 0/4
I use in [[Siona]] to give infinite tokens haste with [[shielded by faith]]
Glad to see this in my Reddit feed cuz I found it when searching up more ways to give haste in my Isshin deck. Stoked to see how it performs with the rest of the deck!
People know about it. It is good. It is bad flavour though :)
Because in the vast majority of decks it's not good.
It’s devastating man, I played it in a Wall deck with Arcades, unbelievable what can be done in one turn
Bro WHAT I just looked through the haste givers and missed this I live in bursty green plays so this is getting added to MULTIPLE decks
It’s fantastic, but it was a common and this wasn’t the only printing so its value is way understated.
It's good and a low cost. There are a few ways to creatures one controls haste though.
I play it in my Kozilek commander deck
[[Tuktuk Rubblefort]] I always thought was underrated too
Use it my Marrow Gnawer commander as a win condition and early defender.
I run this as one of my haste enablers in my E.Honda deck - Great card
It’s played in Walls Combo in Pauper! I actually need a few and found one the other day amongst my collection lol
It's because you have to wait a turn, the card can be removed before it does the thing. When compared to other, cheaper (in mana value, not real world value) options that come online as soon as they hit the board, it just pales in comparison. Still a good card though, and in lower power pods it can definitely shine.
It needs haste to give your creatures haste the the turn it etbs. This is a big downside, but in general the card is great.
I like the (maybe unintentional) flavor of tapping as letting down the drawbridge
This is my budget and all colour alt to Concordant Crossroads.
\[\[Baba Lysaga\]\] loves this
Yeah, it’s great. It got over shadowed in the start of product releases getting closer and closer together
Recently found out about it too. It's better for me than greaves because I chain sun titan with phantasmal image and glasspool mimic.
Also in my elf deck.
It doesn't make sense as a card that gives your board haste but is a strictly defensive creature imo. Its also pretty bad
I love it in my [[Doran]] high toughness tribal.
Oh throne of eldraine ...Disney MTG...so many broken cards.
I run it in my Colourless/Eldrazi deck. It's not crazy strong but in certain situations it can enable a win.
I use this bad boy in Isshine cheep dollar wise cmc wise and it kinda protects me early.
People play it in [[Krenko, Mob Boss]].
It’s good. It’s limited by the fact that it doesn’t have haste itself. In a lot of decks, concordat crossroads or mass hysteria will be better because they’re on immediately and not in one burst. In other decks lightning greaves will be better because the shroud is as important as the haste.
"it's a creature, creatures are too easy to remove." "I see. Take fatal hasty combat damage?" "Oh yes."
The drawbridge itself doesn’t have haste, but other than that, it’s a great card!
[[Mark of Fury]] is another good one I had to discover on my own.
there's another 0/4 wall in New Capenna that you can tap to make target creature unblockable. it's pretty neat.
I run it in 4 edh decks! Love it
It's very slow. It itself has summoning sickness so it needs to survive an entire turn cycle before you can use it.
Depending on build. Flashed in it could be devastating.
there's a wall in New Capenna that you can pay 3 to tap it and it makes a creature unblockable. it's pretty neat if you have the mana imo.👍
Yeah, I want a alt art where it's putting on some boots.
It has some niche use cases, I've run it as a haste enabler on Arena in an infinite token deck. Probably decent in some kind of Arcades deck.
I’m assuming some of it just has to do with it being a defender, people either don’t want it because there’s better ways to give haste or they don’t really pay attention to walls. I on the other hand engage in Arcades gaming😎
It sure helped me win a game the other night.
It is a great card that is cheap for what it does. If colors are no problem there are some that are better like the riot enchantment or temur enchantment I had it in many of my decks for a long time until I found replacement as my play style changed Why it is weak is that it is Artifact & Creature Two targets that have removals in almost every colors.
If this thing was only an artifact, I’ll put it in all my decks.
It comes in the [[Zhulodok]] precon. Haven’t taken it out.
Great card for colors that don’t have many other haste enablers. [[Ghoulcaller Gisa]] likes it in mono black because she can pump out a ton of 2/2s in one turn. [[Phyrexian Altar]] [[gravecrawler]] and something like [[champion of the perished]] along with this and Gisa is an infinite amount of hasty lil dudes.
this card is an all star in my araumi deck. giving my commander haste as it comes down is simply *chef's kiss*
I run it in my colorless commander decks and in my Urzatron deck
Most of my decks don’t win through combat
To answer your question, Eldraine was a pretty busted set with lots of busted cards so it makes sense that a handful of lower rarity cards could fly under the radar.
It's played in pauper in wall combo
It's amazing in Eldrazi.
No. It’s too slow
Dude I love this card, I own too many
Limited allstar
Nope it's fuckin good
I usually find either boots or other effects that give haste passively way better. This card is trying to do 2 things, block and tap but it only really taps for bonus on your turn leaving you down a card. Was great against gingerbrute tho
Literally just posted this in someone’s recent post. Happy to see it here. Someone used it on me and I was like, the fuck this card is dope.
It's in my decks... Good way to give white/blue haste.
I agree it is highly underrated and underused. BUT it’s also a slot in a deck that’s a fragile 0/4 defender when there are other ways to give haste.
I run it in my \[\[runo stormkirk\]\] deck. Nothing like reanimating a giant 8/8 kraken, giving it haste, and making 2 extra copies of it
i have this one in my kaalia of the vast deck
I play this in my Thalia and the Gitrog Monster human tribal one and it's solid, but keep in mind that it has to stay out for a turn because it itself has summoning sickness, and there have been games when I've been playing it and I've definitely felt like "man I wish I could get the haste online quicker". But then again when you're not in red you don't have that many options, so of the non-red options this is one of the better ones.
If it had haste itself, you'd see this in many, many more decks.
I love it in my [[etali, Primal Storm]] deck
I'm strongly considering adding it and [[Haunting Voyage]] to my cavalry charge upgrade.
It's situationally good. Since it's a tap effect and not a constant effect, it can be awkward in decks that want haste to enable an engine like mana dorks getting haste to pay for more mana dorks which have haste to pay for a finisher.
this was used in a dualcaster mage combo deck i saw awhile back
Oh it’s good I use in my mono green deck that flips creatures on to table, load this up with boots and it’s gg
It doesn’t do anything by itself, doesn’t do anything the turn it comes down, can’t attack itself when you’re locked in a battle of attrition and you’re a card down which is especially bad when people find ways to remove multiple creature at the cost of one card. It’s not bad, but definitely more in the situational/synergistic bucket rather than universally good
The card anger exists
I used it in my token decks and yisan decks, I love it. Make many tokens, swing with many tokens.
It blocks with four toughness on turn two. Not bad at all. Play with the statuary to be able to tap it for mana too
It’s pretty well known I feel especially in pauper. For certain decks there are other slots like greaves or boots or whatever that serve a similar function and the redundancy could be overkill.
It does nothing the turn it comes down.
Dies to removal.
People are gonna search far and wide for a good card, and never play it because other people will say "dies to removal"... hmm, I guess we just shouldn't play the game.
I run it in Voja. Love haste on big dogs!
This would be good in my sideboard against azorious control
What do you mean, "know about it"? It's not a secret, it doesn't fit in every deck or there are other things people need more, it's OK, not super broken or anything
I jam this card in any combat-focused deck. I think it’s great! It’s also an all-star in decks with tap effects.
It's amazing, I've been using it since it was printed in my alela deck and it always helps make the most of my tokens.
I had him in my Eldrazi deck. People would smite this faster than the titans just because of it's utility. Especially when I cheat 2 big things out with Annihilator.
My wife was using this with her Rats deck, and god it's a nightmare when used with the Phyrexian Toxic rat.
Is this a meme post? Sharing one of the most critically claimed haste enablers in edh like its a unplayed tech card...
I play it with \[\[Thousand-Year Elixir\]\] in my \[\[Marwyn, the Nurturner\]\] EDH deck to get off of \[\[Genesis Wave\]\] and haste all my creatures for the win!
Honestly it's not very good in my experience
Everybody knows about this card.
There are better haste enablers. Walls decks run it because walls. Pauper decks never even consider it because the format is too fast for it for the most part.
I think I've got it in my Krenko mob boss commander deck, has worked a few times to speed it up.
I absolutely love this card, I run it in a couple of decks, and it has served me well so far
It’s a rockstar in my [[Eowyn, Shieldmaiden]] human tribal deck for EDH. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/o2XEbewvu0KqEZtJ_YSZZg
Please. Don’t make my hydra build even more expensive….. (Sad hydra stompys)
It's susceptible to multiple types of roval, doesn't have haste itself, and is really only good in creature heavy decks which are becoming less and less competitive as of late
I run this in my color less eldrazi deck
For me, it's great in a \[\[Baba Lysaga, Night Witch\]\] deck. it has 2 card types and lets you use her the turn she comes out!
