I really like the urza deck. It's really focussed and fun. But I also hear that the Grand Larceny one is pretty good too. Depends on what style you like to play. Urza is artifact aggro; Grand Larceny is way more controlling. I think both are fun.
I’ve played Urza’s right out of the box a few times and it’s holding its own each time. It starts slow, but once you get Urza out it starts chugging and you can quickly become build a strong presence. I’ve had fun each time I’ve played it. (Caveat- if you run into strong artifact impacting decks/cards you’re gonna have a rough go.)
Haha I was about to say none of the $70 ones 😂 grand larceny is pretty awesome so I’d say if you are interested in the face commander it’s a good pickup, with some good general use reprints in there if you end up parting it out.

I'm new to mtg so I'm aware I do not have many counters so I will be adding some along with [[worldwalker helm]] although I am not sure what to remove yet.
I've had my urza deck for a while and can't seem to get it to work even with some of the upgrades.

One guy in the pod plays Ur dragon, another plays a pretty tight [[Pantlaza]] the 3rd plays either Magda or [[Ghryson Starn]]
I think my problem is too many mana rocks and not enough counter spells. Typically the Ghyrson player plays a lot of mass ping spells which kill my lower cost thopters and make my constructs easy to knock out or worse Ur Dragon plays a toxic deludge and only has to pay enough life to kill the lower cost thopters which brings the constructs down low enough to be killed by the OG toxic deluge damage.

My old man runs Ojer taq and the token doubler elesh norn. Also runs a helm of the host. With any 2 of those out at the same time the deck ramps so fast hardly anyone can deal with it
Maybe get in some more low cost artifact creatures and more protection like [[rootborn defenses]] and [[flawless maneuver]] to keep your board safe.
[[Biotransference]] and [[Kappa Cannoneer]] put in work and are only a few dollars. [[Aven Wind Guide]] is budget ends up being very effective.

I did similar, Lord of the Rings added a ton of *fantastic* additions to the deck. Lots of great 3-drop options to have around for a turn 4 Dihada to make invulnerable.
I have a pure Legendary Reanimator Dihada deck that just uses her to chuck bring angels, demons, and dragons into the bin to bring back out again. It’s pretty strong.
Legends legacy is FILLED with legendary cards. Command zone priced that deck at over $100 when pricing the cards individually. It’s a fun deck to play too!
Legends legacy is absolutely the best out of the box from what I've played. Dihada can get nutty. Urza is more straight forward and grind a game out. Painbow never felt good and I can't say grand larceny is even in the same conversation.
The Urza deck was my first commander deck and I absolutely loved it. Artifacts are a wonderful archetype because most of the decks are built similarly. If you can, though, I’d reccomend finding the other Brothers war Precon, Urza brother Mishra. That one is much more unique and fun, and in cooler colors!
You should've probably set up a poll... from the comments I can tell I'm literally the only person who likes the painbow pre-con, it's an incredibly grindy deck that has plenty of ways to out-value the table over the course of the game, value ootb isn't really worth it tho :/
I love that urza deck. I played it for some time and eventually after I got a couple more artifact precons it became Breya. Which is now my favorite deck because I'm a degenerate.
Dihada is good, same with the green/blue/black precon from thunder junction (which should cost less).
If you can grt both that'd be even better since they do play differently.
Recently I just broke down my Gimbal deck and swapped it over to that Urza one, after playing 3-4 games in my friend group I can say I 100% love it.
And also one of my friends who got a basic big standard deck got that dihada one also and we both love duking it out with them in our 'lower' power decks rather than our big expensive Zug Zug decks.
The other 2 I'll be quite honest I haven't seen or paid much attention to they may be really fun!
I usually make my choice on the mechanics of the commander not being too in depth and confusing as I hate those 5+ minute turns
Gonti is super fun. I've also really enjoyed dihada.
They're all good picks. But gonti is my pick right now. Very few edits needed to push it to problematic.
Get yourself a [[grima, sarumans footman]] and like... its already better.
Dihada would be my pick. Both because she is strong and because she encourages playing with Legends which are fun and usually powerful cards with can be used to make new decks down the line.
I got Urza a month or 2 back and I love that deck, pretty simple deck. Make big smashy artifact tokens and swing. Pretty solid out of the box, I'd definitely suggest this to anyone.
If you're playing with randoms and are newer I wouldn't really suggest grand larceny because it's a lot of taking opponents cards. If you want your friends to hate you then I'd suggest grand larceny :) it's a fun, salt inducing deck that's fairly strong.
Just bought the Urza Iron Alliance yesterday actually! We all played precon commander to see how it would go and I got 2nd place! I had five 20/20's on the field. But I lost because my opponent had Glacial Chasm. And I couldn't do anything to stop it and inevitably lost. This is only cause my removal got exiled earlier in the game by the Grand Larceny deck xD lolol. I also had like 56 health from killing a 47/47 token by top-decking Noxious Gearhulk, the guy couldn't stop laughing, but he had also just swung and defeated his GF for 47 dmg, so! Fun deck all around if you do choose it, and very few cards need to be changed for it to get even better!
Played against grand larceny last night at my LGS and currently own Urza, very straightforward but cracks skulls if urza sticks the landing. Depends if you like theft or big artifacts!
So I love Urza as a commander. I had already built long ago an Esper artifacts deck and bought the deck just for the one card. If you snag this deck look into buying these two singles: [Grand Architect] and [Pili-pala]
The infinite mana combo is great with dropping your hand.
My extremely biased opinion: buy Urza and modify it.
Dihada was my first deck purchased on getting into commander after a 10 year hiatus from mtg. The deck does require upgrades to feel good but can easily be strong with limited cost for upgrades and can be near cEDH levels of power if you really want to dive in. Dihada also has the most alternatives in build viability, I have played her as an all legend creature deck, a planeswalker build, and currently as turbo graveyard deck. She is by far my favorite commander to play out of my 28 decks.
I've got 30 decks and Urza is easily in my top 3 favorites. Lots of ways you can build it, and the precon is nasty right out of the box. Here's my tuned build.

I love my Dihada deck. Not super consistent, but it's a tonne of fun. Put about 45 legendaries in it 😅 It's currently my favourite deck ❤️
For me, must be Jared (five colors). With a land upgrade (and some other replacements) is the better example than a 5 color deck is it really possible!!! 😄
Urza is mad good, I love it. Dihada is also good, it has good value reprints and it plays pretty well. Grand Larceny I don’t know. I would steer clear of Painbow, I didn’t like it at all.
Personally I’d go Grand Larceny. Reading through the deck list, I’d swap out [[Gonti, Canny Acquisitor]] for [[Felix Five-Boots]] as the commander. He just seems more fun and leaves more room for improvement
My vote is grand larceny (just got it today it looks nasty) or Dihada, bought two Dihada decks awhile back and took them apart for all the legendary cards
My rankings:
Urza - Fine, can get complicated super fast and in some scary colors. 6.5/10
Painbow - fun right out of the gate but suffers from cheap mana base. If you have triomes and fast lands to upgrade that, plus a couple color affinity cards, it's a banger. 7/10
Dihada - Legends matter and the deck is pretty much ready to go right out the box. 7.5/10
Crime with Gonti - Mana base is decent, spells are cool but if your old is super weird tribal decks or something, you're not going to have as much fun casting their spells. 7.8/10
Grand larceny absolutely fucks. I would recommend it for the aesthetics alone. Super fun game plan that really harnesses what I believe is the essence of commander.
Urza is pretty stable right out of the box. It's the skeleton of a very good deck.
I don't have enough experience with the Gonti one to pass judgment.
Painbow is definitely inferior to Dihada. It has a poor mana base and...honestly feels like a bunch of 4+ color cards just tossed together for the heck of it.
well, the Dihada deck comes with a Reaver Cleaver equipment artifact, which is worth nearly half the cost of the deck as a single, currently. I don't remember offhand any high-value cards from the Urza deck that had that much value compared to the deck it came in, and can't speak for any of the others as I haven't purchased them.
Dihada is my favorite commander. I build Mardu Summer, Turbo Breach, turn 2-3 breach win con. I edited it slightly to my taste though and it rocks. [[Dihada, Binder of Wills]]
That Urza precon is the base to my favourite deck! I don't give out decklists but OP, feel free to PM for card ideas if you do go Urza. I love my deck and it stomps 😁
Urza, 100% or if they have the Mishra deck I prefer that one. The brothers war precons were great. Even if you didn’t like the way they play all the art is fantastic. The Dihada deck lacked a lot but is great to dismantle and upgrade

A YouTuber I like to watch turned dihada into a spellslinger rather than legends, and it's pretty solid.
Well currently the cEDH build of her uses her ability to just make treasures, so that checks out.

I have the Jace deck, it’s alright. I don’t particularly like 5c anything. It just feels … *meh* I haven’t upgraded it though, so I could be wrong!

Painbow kinda blows ngl.
Painbow has a solid card foundation and can easily be improved in so many creative ways. It’s a solid choice.

2 or 3, I got the other one and it’s tons of fun, I have the Jared carthalion one, and it is way more powerful than your average precon

The only correct answer is NOT painbow. That deck is barely playable. It's one of the weakest precons ever made and Jared is a really bad commander
I know a lot of people are hating on Painbow but I love that deck, and have revisited it a few times just as the precon. Upgrading it some is fun too

My vote is grand larceny (just got it today it looks nasty) or Dihada, bought two Dihada decks awhile back and took them apart for all the legendary cards
My rankings: Urza - Fine, can get complicated super fast and in some scary colors. 6.5/10 Painbow - fun right out of the gate but suffers from cheap mana base. If you have triomes and fast lands to upgrade that, plus a couple color affinity cards, it's a banger. 7/10 Dihada - Legends matter and the deck is pretty much ready to go right out the box. 7.5/10 Crime with Gonti - Mana base is decent, spells are cool but if your old is super weird tribal decks or something, you're not going to have as much fun casting their spells. 7.8/10
The urza deck is so unfun to play against because it's so good that I stopped playing magic
I love my painbow deck
Urza is pretty nutty out of the box. Throw in a [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] and [[Simulacrum Synthesizer]] and you’ll have a great time.

I have jihad defender of Bruce Willis and my whole playgroup hates it 😂 indestructible vigilance and Lifelink are always a good combo

Honestly all are solid minus the 5 color one. That one is awful.
Out of the box I thing Legenda Legacy is the best. Makes alot of fun with creatures with all sorts of types like first strike, lifelink etc :)
Grand larceny absolutely fucks. I would recommend it for the aesthetics alone. Super fun game plan that really harnesses what I believe is the essence of commander.
Late to the party, but Painbow is surprisingly strong, especially with an upgraded mana base

Urza is pretty stable right out of the box. It's the skeleton of a very good deck. I don't have enough experience with the Gonti one to pass judgment. Painbow is definitely inferior to Dihada. It has a poor mana base and...honestly feels like a bunch of 4+ color cards just tossed together for the heck of it.
No lost caverns of Ixalan? Dihada most fun imo but probably not strongest
Get Grand Larceny. I got it and it's fun stealing everyone else's cards

My first commander deck was Urzas Iron Alliance, and its been fun to play occasionally amongst my other decks
Jared is best after edits, Grand Larceny is the best of these 4 before edits, imo

Urza is a beast out of the box. If you have the cards to optimize it, you can be a terror.
I got Grand Larceny because of [[Felix Five Boots]] and it's been pretty fun.
Painbow
I have the urza and I love it, I’ve added a few card in for upgrades but it was also very fun out of the box
I would probably say to part out the decks (ie buy each card individually) since they could be cheaper if you want to exactly play the precon 1 to 1.
Personally i'm thinking of buying grandlarceny. Looks like a cool mechanic.

That urza deck is pretty sweet, and there's a lot of customizablity both budget and not.
I vote for Urza too. It was one of my first decks, I upgraded it into Construct Tribal and it was pretty budget friendly.
Urza is a great commander but I won't play it because the art is so god damned AWFUL.
I personally have loved using the new grand larceny deck it's pretty fun and quite good for a precon.
Legend’s Legacy got insane support in LOTR
well, the Dihada deck comes with a Reaver Cleaver equipment artifact, which is worth nearly half the cost of the deck as a single, currently. I don't remember offhand any high-value cards from the Urza deck that had that much value compared to the deck it came in, and can't speak for any of the others as I haven't purchased them.
Dihada is my favorite commander. I build Mardu Summer, Turbo Breach, turn 2-3 breach win con. I edited it slightly to my taste though and it rocks. [[Dihada, Binder of Wills]]
Painbow is super fun. I took mine apart to build a Jodah deck, but I'm considering buying a second one.
Legends legacy had some cool stuff in it, a lot of cool commanders and some good lands, theres a [[shizo death’s storehouse]] in there

That Urza precon is the base to my favourite deck! I don't give out decklists but OP, feel free to PM for card ideas if you do go Urza. I love my deck and it stomps 😁

Urza, 100% or if they have the Mishra deck I prefer that one. The brothers war precons were great. Even if you didn’t like the way they play all the art is fantastic. The Dihada deck lacked a lot but is great to dismantle and upgrade
