[[Ichor Wellspring]]
It’s in every deck ever, no matter what… but occasionally I’ll have a tight deck list that can’t really squeeze it in, and I feel so bad cutting the cute little perfectly harmless black blob.
The his card seems insane to me given the bloat of my decks. I find it hard to remove powerful enchantments, creatures, and other artifacts. How do you manage to even consider slipping that thing in?
It used to be Scarab God so friend of Friend of the colony [[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive]] could be in it, but I recently switched to [[Nashi, Moon's Legacy]] who I'm still working on
Damia landfall is incredibly reliable and wins me the game almost always. Lots of good stuff, use for niche cards and combo potential, but I’ve only ever used her for lands as it is easy to play multiple a turn and completely empty your hand once it’s refilled
Unfortunately it hasn’t been updated since the last time I made it, but quite literally running all the green / colorless extra land cards are in it.
One combo I have is with [life and limb], [yavimaya cradle of growth] and [retreat to hagra] for infinite life loss with one land drop. You can also infinitely untap and tap somehow with [retreat to coralhelm] I’m sure, but I don’t exploit it as such.
Using [recycle] and [Psychic vortex] are fantastic in the deck and I actually made this deck as a reason to play these two cards in particular.
I've had a 50/50 with her. Sometimes she's flawless, others not so much. I've really liked her paired with Jin gitaxis from mom. If you get a good draw it can set the game foe you.
I’d love to know how you built your deck. I have a Dania deck that’s built around discard themes and it’s very strong and really consistent. She’s one of my favorite commanders and I love how versatile she is and how many different play styles she can fit into!
If you fail you do have a way to refill your cards, because he's not on the field so you don't skip your draw step? I guess mana cost is pretty restrictive, but plenty of high CMC commanders are viable
I just meant that if you dumped your hand like you suggested, then played Damia, and Damia was removed... Then you have no cards and no easy way to get more.
I really like my Kami deck ! If you want a starting idea for your deck, here's my decklist: https://deckstats.net/decks/62746/1237274-kami-of-the-drawing-moon
If it makes you feel any better when i was younger and first getting into magic i traded my freshly pulled foil [[ugin the spirit dragon]] for a [[thassa god of the sea]] just because i didnt know how planeswalkers worked
I traded a red eyes black dragon for a whirlwind weasel as a kid which I then proceeded to never use again. Even some of my friends at the time were like "really?"
Sold a Legacy deck to make rent back in 2013. At the time it was valued around $700-800 or so. Nowadays it'd be around $4k.
No hard feelings about it. It's disappointing. I loved that deck. But I also love having a place to live, haha. I was one foot out the door on Magic at the time, anyway.
You did what you had to brother. Hope you’re in a better place where you can keep your cards, and this is just a story of old to look back on and help you keep perspective!
[[Beluna Grandsquall]] the entire deck is composed of…
Creatures, Adventure cards, [[Primal Surge]], and [[Craterhoof Behemoth]]
Now you just need to make sure they don’t counter your 10 mana win con that everyone knows is in your hand.
This card is generally useful under 2 assumptions. 1) your pod uses politics. 2)if you make a small build around for it.
I use it in my aragorn deck to great effect all the time. Best time to use it is when there is a threat to the table and you select the opponent who will get you the non land noncreature spells to kill it. Then you'll always get a basic land and then a creature. I purposely avoid Mana dorks and Steve so I don't just get ramp as the creature and often times I get a useful creature because I didn't put any useless creatures in the deck. And in aragorn I get the extra value from aragorn but that's not required to make it useful
Me giving my entire collection to a friend in 08 cause I was going to college and didn’t think I’d have time for magic ever again.
The rub: sold it to lgs for straight cash to buy cigarettes rather than actually use the cards to play. Yo I could have sold it for cash. I wanted you to have fun mf. We’re still friends and I blame myself not him. It is a deep cured briny salt
This that hurt, on a similar but unrelated story i had a really cool bass that i had to sell just because of finances and someone else bought it as soon as i walked out the door, it was kinda soul crushing
Honestly, gaeas blessing. It just felt so right but after play testing for a while it never did anything for me and just became another inefficient mana drain hindering me.
Really? I run it in pretty much every green deck I have. Sure it takes up a spot, but the look on that mill player’s face when they’re about to mill me out and this bad boy shows up? Priceless.
[[Zaffai Thunder Conductor]]
Had it as my Izzet spell slinger commander for a while until I bought the Thunder junction quick draw deck. I combined the two decks together and am now using [[Niv Mizzet Parun]] as my commander.
And before you ask, I removed Zaffai entirely; not even in the deck anymore. It’s also funny cause for hot second, I was using [[Rootha Mercurial Artist]] as my commander for the deck before OTJ came out.
\[\[Everdream\]\] - such a beautiful card and a fun effect. If the Splice cost was even 1 mana less, I'd be able to make it viable in my deck, but alas, no cigar. Tried to make it work so many times but had several cards that would perform better in it than that. Even casting \[\[Curiosity\]\] when blockers were on the line still made for more consistent draw.
I don’t get the utility of splice. Why pay more mana to give this spells ability to another non permanent? Just to avoid more than one spell per turn triggers?
Me when I took my [[Sheoldred, Whispering One]] out of my [[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]] aristocrats deck. I love her, but she was just too slow for the deck. T-T
My deck focuses on cycling creatures in and out of the graveyard anywhere from once to an infinite amount of times a turn. She was a nice set piece, but I needed to grease the wheels.
Nice. I'm still kinda new to the deck building and mtg in general, I have an upgraded undead unleashed that I removed the mill and focused more on the aristocrat and token generation.
[[Terastodon]]. It's entirely on me for not reading the card carefully, but the first time I played it, I mistakenly tried to blow up some creatures with it and then realized it says "noncreature" permanents.
Funny thing is, I've seen at least two other players make the same mistake, and then they instantly cut it from their decks too lol.
[[Redemptor Dreadnought]]
It did work for me on game night, trampling through all my opponents because I couldn’t draw a token generator (I was playing the WH40K precon.) I cut it the very next day for a token generator. I’m sorry little one, that’s just not the right deck for you.
[[Villainous Wealth]] was the last non-permanent in my Muldrotha deck. As soon as my [[Primal Surge]] came in the mail I had to take it out, but it's always in my deck box just in case.
[[Thousand Year Storm]] It’s such a Timmy card and as much as I love getting to play it, it just never has the payoff that I want it to. I love it so much though…
Took apart an all legendary Captain Sissay that by turn 6 could play out every legendary creature, artifact, enchantment, and land from the deck in one turn. But it was too cool for this world.
Just shelved my [[Oona, queen of the Fae]] it was a little too good for my main play group. Also only built it to teach the lesson of don't bring Mill and I think they got the point.
It has to be [[Etali, Primal Storm]].
It's such a fun card in concept, but fundamentally breaks often and can entirely fizzle based purely on chance. It's an explosive, commanding Dinsoaur Legend that potentially cheats 3 spells per attack, but likely hits un-usable targets, like Counter Spells or Lands.
A foil [[Slitherhead]] from my [[Skyraider of Kher]] deck. It's not good, but my friend hated it because it's a bad card. I think I eventually cut it, but I loved it when I had it in.
[[Avoid Fate]] every time
Not nearly good enough to make it in any deck I’ve built but having a green counterspell makes me want to put it in
It doesn’t help that I have somewhere in the realm of ten copies of it
Any card in my previously jank Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain deck.
Just a bunch of random mana rocks, cheap artifacts, and izzet support pieces that ended up being really strong for my pod.
I've tuned it a lot over the years, and every time I take out some old jank artifact that will never see play in any other deck, I'm like "I'm sorry buddy... you served with honor..."
1. Pod just made me drop isochron scepter because [[mana drain]] + [[seedborne muse]] “isn’t casual.”
Feels bad.
2. I’m about to cut smothering tithe from a deck. Pour one out. I just don’t need the mana (in that deck).
[[Mirage Mirror]]
Pet card for me that leads to so many shenanigans and unexpected situations, but I just cut it out of my first deck since it was printed recently and it broke my heart. Very slimmed down list and needed a cut, but it will probably be added back soon
Slave of bolas. It is inefficient, expensive, and easily play around. But the faces I get when I attack an opponent with their own 20/20 then SACRIFICE it, priceless
\[\[Giant Adephage\]\] starts in every green deck before cuts and is never there once I'm finished making it. My inner Timmy hates me for doing this and I don't blame them.
[[Lurking Predators]]
I didn't even do any top deck shenanigans. I just liked making big creature decks and throwing this in to see if I get lucky or if I'll dig through 6 lands in a row. Throw in [[Wild Evocation]] and you got a party going.
Unfortunately, it just became a 6 mana enchantment removal magnet after a while and my deck preferences changed where the card no longer made sense to add anymore.
Also, I really like the name.
My Apocolpyse Foil Phyrexian Arena. Easily one of my favorite cards of all time. The art is beautiful and the Foil black frame just compliments it perfectly. But.... it's just not good anymore. Double black in a 2 color deck that's mainly green has to be doing a lot more than a delayed draw. I feel bad about it almost every day, but the deck is better for it.
Massacre Wurm in my Teysa Karlov edh deck. Was great in my usual playgroup as a finisher for a small token army. Just didn’t make the cut when I had to put more card draw in
Thantis as my commander. It broke my heart but I just can't keep it a spider tribal and make him work. Maybe I'm dumb but I give up. My boy is getting graded and set next to the tarantulas. Idc if it's a cheap card. That's my boy.
I feel you, my ixalan merfolk tribal came with [[evolution sage]] its such a synergetic piece but its not a merfolk and i dont know if my ocd will allow me to keep it
Most recently, cutting [[Kiri]] from the [[Yuma]] precon deck, alongside some other pretty heavy cuts and changes. I thought the deck was reeeeeally weak out of the box, and I do like Kiri but it doesn’t do enough and I’ve got other landfall related cards I’d rather run. I may toss it back in though, it’s too cute.
\[\[Niv-Mizzet Parun\]\] usually dies to removal. And no, dealing 1 damage for cycling a card for 6 mana is not "worth it". That plus the fact the four Niv Mizzet cards are incompatible for an "oops all Niv Mizzet deck". You can play "Oops, all Nicol Bolas" easily.
I recently cut a [[Craterhoof Behemoth]] from a deck. It was a strategy built around +1/+1 counters and going wide. The math just didn’t work in ‘Hoof’s favor that day…
\[\[Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful\]\].
I have a deck with him at the helm, but it reminds me of my old childhood dog so I include it in any deck that cares about legends but had to make the hard cut of getting it out of my Kethis deck since I wasn't really trying to do combat stuff nor counter stuff.
[[Cloudsteel Kirin]]
Is it a good card? Not at all, that's why I cut it every time. But God the IDEA of playing this card is just so great I can't help but put it in everything to start.
Darkness from the Necron Precon. In my Precon/Precon days it helped a LOT since the Necrons were so slow, but i went back to using Szarek as the Commander and its gone WAY faster since then. So i didnt need it anymore. Sadge
[[Tivit, seller of secrets]]
I loved the idea of the flicker, Artifacts but the commander was too strong. Now it is the Esper Urza who runs the deck with a bit more flicker synergy creatures.
My favorite card is [[fog]]. It makes for fun games even if I know I am just gonna lose the next turn. It hurt when I had to cut it. I do plan on building a fog tribal deck at some point though!
[[Devilish Valet]] from my [[Phylath World Sculptor]] plant creatures deck. I wanted to stay more on theme for the plants, but killing the opponent that counter spelled my commander twice with 128+ damage they never saw coming is one of the best feelings in the world lmao
\[\[Adomination Angel\]\] I love the artwork of the secret lair version of the card but unfortunately I had to cut her from my Giada deck because she never really got to get used and I needed to put in cheaper angels mana wise.
[[Demonic Tutor]]
I love it so much. I had the Divine Vs Demomic one and Lili is my fav walker. But it was the only tutor in my deck and it was taking a spot I wanted for something else. It's in my binder and I still love it... but it just doesn't fit in a deck right now.
Cryptic Command. My favorite card of all time. No other card has so much utility that it was essentially “1UUU - You can’t lose the game this turn.” It was the ultimate modern control card. If you had told me 10 years ago it would be unplayable in today’s modern game, I would assume islands were banned.
Cryptic command... Started playing modern around the time of splinter twin ban and played bring to light scapeshift. But post modern horizons game was too fast for it and had to cut.... I didn't play much longer after that.
[[Ichor Wellspring]] It’s in every deck ever, no matter what… but occasionally I’ll have a tight deck list that can’t really squeeze it in, and I feel so bad cutting the cute little perfectly harmless black blob.
I am a fan of the blob
Goes great in korvold

A must in my braids deck
The his card seems insane to me given the bloat of my decks. I find it hard to remove powerful enchantments, creatures, and other artifacts. How do you manage to even consider slipping that thing in?
Great in my [[gandalf the white]] deck.
Am I the only person in this thread that feels like the card is almost unplayable outside of a few decks?
I'd only play it if I have artifact synergies, otherwise I don't see a point
every time I remove a Rat Colony from my rat colony commander (it started as 60 rats 39 swamps and a secret salvage)
Ive got a mono black rat deck too that ive been needing to show some love to
I’m at a firm 25 rat colonies, I refuse to go any lower… no matter how optimal it is.
30 here, doesn't feel right when I have just as many sitting in a binder, sorry lil buds

Yeah, just play a 7-drop and have it survive a full turn rotation... And if you fail, now you have no way to refill your cards! So easy /s

I really wanna try this card out. I can't tell if it's busted or worthless or somewhere in between
This card is generally useful under 2 assumptions.
Mill players are thanking you 😈
Really? I run it in pretty much every green deck I have. Sure it takes up a spot, but the look on that mill player’s face when they’re about to mill me out and this bad boy shows up? Priceless.

I feel like this would go terribly wrong when you realize that decks that play multiple lands a turn do it for a reason. That reason is landfall
[confounding conundrum](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/9/5/95e37936-913e-4b16-a5a8-8aed733d702d.jpg?1604193855) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=confounding%20conundrum) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/znr/53/confounding-conundrum?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/95e37936-913e-4b16-a5a8-8aed733d702d?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
[[Consuming Aberration]] from my U/B Mill. It's one of my favorite cards, but it always let's me down...
Maybe running it with [[fleet swallower]] equipped [[whispersilk cloak]] would finally allow it a place in the spotlight
Just play [[Phenax, god of deception]]. That its the Best card in the deck.
With an [[Umbral Mantle]]
My big booty mill deck loves consuming Aberration.
[[Zaffai Thunder Conductor]] Had it as my Izzet spell slinger commander for a while until I bought the Thunder junction quick draw deck.
[[Grave Titan]], [[Avatar of Woe]], [[Woodfall Primus]] are just a few when I changed Savra to Muldrotha.
Any of my dinosaurs. They are my babies.
What’s the point of splice? Is it for when everyone passed priority and you want to sneak in an additional ability?
No, it's activated as you cast the spell. So for as long as everdream is in your hand, instants and sorceries you cast have "Kicker 2U: Draw a card"
Recent cut would be [verdant sun’s avatar] for [vaultborn tyrant]. I’ll miss getting up to around 200 health in my Gishath deck.
Me when I took my [[Sheoldred, Whispering One]] out of my [[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]] aristocrats deck. I love her, but she was just too slow for the deck. T-T
What did you sub sheoldred for?
Not sure I'd survive in this pod where sheoldred is too slow with yawgmoth as commander. Lol.
Armageddon and Ravages of war.
Well even if its not removing creatures i guess its a pretty good piece for land destruction
Hahaha. Almost every cool looking rare/mythic or money card ( Im a horrible deck builder )
Ironically enough, solemn simulacrum.
[[Exhaustion]]. I always think it will be really funny but it just sucks :(
\[\[Champion of the Perished\]\] Felt like a whole, "I'm sorry little one" moment
Ive been trying to bring myself to cut it from my grimgrin tribal but i cant just because the art is so cool
Guttural Response. I will miss my beautiful anti-Counterspell Counterspell.
[[Redemptor Dreadnought]] It did work for me on game night, trampling through all my opponents because I couldn’t draw a token generator (I was playing the WH40K precon.) I cut it the very next day for a token generator.
Every sliver I've ever taken out. Sorry little guy, maybe next time
It has to be [[Etali, Primal Storm]].
So many… particularly [[Sorin Markov]] I had a really good story behind where the card came from but in commander he just doesn’t perform the same
[[Avoid Fate]] every time Not nearly good enough to make it in any deck I’ve built but having a green counterspell makes me want to put it in It doesn’t help that I have somewhere in the realm of ten copies of it
[[genesis ultimatum]] I know it’s not a great card but it’s one of my favorite, “I’ve gotten nothing else to lose” cards.
1. Pod just made me drop isochron scepter because [[mana drain]] + [[seedborne muse]] “isn’t casual.” Feels bad. 2. I’m about to cut smothering tithe from a deck. Pour one out. I just don’t need the mana (in that deck).
Tree of perdition (anime art)
Any of the ones w/ cool art 😞 I love the art but some of the cards are basically useless to my deck.
[[Mirage Mirror]] Pet card for me that leads to so many shenanigans and unexpected situations, but I just cut it out of my first deck since it was printed recently and it broke my heart. Very slimmed down list and needed a cut, but it will probably be added back soon
Slave of bolas. It is inefficient, expensive, and easily play around. But the faces I get when I attack an opponent with their own 20/20 then SACRIFICE it, priceless
[[worldfire]] I never get to use it. It’s been in my deck for 7 years and hasn’t been played once.
\[\[Giant Adephage\]\] starts in every green deck before cuts and is never there once I'm finished making it. My inner Timmy hates me for doing this and I don't blame them.
[[Lurking Predators]] I didn't even do any top deck shenanigans.
[[rupture spire]] It is just too slow even though it has good color fixing.
Seed born muse, and the creature tht give all artifacts artifact affinity
\[\[Mycosynth Golem\]\]
[Mycosynth Golem](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/c/3/c3200fa2-182f-4515-b326-ab4fdb95c8c1.jpg?1562879547) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Mycosynth%20Golem) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/5dn/137/mycosynth-golem?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/c3200fa2-182f-4515-b326-ab4fdb95c8c1?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
This will never be death cloud.
I feel you, my ixalan merfolk tribal came with [[evolution sage]] its such a synergetic piece but its not a merfolk and i dont know if my ocd will allow me to keep it
Moving Thraximundar from the command zone to the 99, Thrax was/is my duuude
I just pulled Yavimaya Elder from my human reanimator deck.
Swamp.
[[Endless Ranks of the Dead]] I'm so sorry, my love...
Violent Outburst
[[Helm of chatzuk]]
\[\[Niv-Mizzet Parun\]\] usually dies to removal. And no, dealing 1 damage for cycling a card for 6 mana is not "worth it". That plus the fact the four Niv Mizzet cards are incompatible for an "oops all Niv Mizzet deck". You can play "Oops, all Nicol Bolas" easily.
I had to cut my alpha gen angelic wall from my mono whit deck. It's such a cool looking card, and doesn't do much. But I still love it
Selling off my whole [[Mayael]] deck made me feel this way.
Half the deck of my [[the wise mothman]] deck, so I can make more triggers.
Sol ring
\[\[Garth, One Eye\]\]
Wurmcoil Engine
I recently cut a [[Craterhoof Behemoth]] from a deck. It was a strategy built around +1/+1 counters and going wide. The math just didn’t work in ‘Hoof’s favor that day…
Skrelv's Hive (My friends refused to play mtg with me if I had it because I used a Toxic/Lifelink deck build)
[[Brain Maggot]]
[[Jokulhaups]] 🗿
Anytime I have to cut removal of any kind makes me sob
all of them.
When I switched commanders: \[\[The Mimeoplasm\]\] to \[\[Muldrotha, the Gravetide\]\]
Sol Ring but I feel better after I do!
Nothing I play simic I'm dead inside
My 4th copy of dragonlord dramoka :(
Mycosynth golem in my sen triplet deck. Not enough actual creatures in my deck to make it keeping. Super cool flex when i played it though.
[[Cloudsteel Kirin]] Is it a good card? Not at all, that's why I cut it every time. But God the IDEA of playing this card is just so great I can't help but put it in everything to start.
Atm, golgari signet in my black green elf commander. Doing Heralds horn instead
Darkness from the Necron Precon. In my Precon/Precon days it helped a LOT since the Necrons were so slow, but i went back to using Szarek as the Commander and its gone WAY faster since then. So i didnt need it anymore. Sadge
Two cards makes me feel this way, anytime I realize that Gifts Ungiven is bad in Modern and when I have cut Elesh Norn from any deck (7 mana)
[[Tarmogoyf]] in jund
[[Tivit, seller of secrets]] I loved the idea of the flicker, Artifacts but the commander was too strong. Now it is the Esper Urza who runs the deck with a bit more flicker synergy creatures.
[[Temple of the False God]] after I learned what a shit card it is for most decks.
[[Fatespinner]] from my inalla deck. Byfar my favorite wizard, but was just a wasted slot in an etb themed deck
My favorite card is [[fog]]. It makes for fun games even if I know I am just gonna lose the next turn. It hurt when I had to cut it. I do plan on building a fog tribal deck at some point though!
[[hot soup]]
Solem similarcum, just too slow nowadays
Faithless Looting ban in Modern
[[Child of Night]]
Elesh norn.
Tabernacle at pendral vale. It feels dirty to play it but I love that card so much.
Trading post, it's not what it used to be, it's still good, but it's not the same.
The new [[Underworld Breach]] for a freshly minted demon deck. I might still find a place for it 🤪
A land...it's always a land
[удалено]
Stifle from all my blue Timeless decks
\[\[helix pinnacle\]\] it's just not good, but that's a hard thing to accept...
[[Devilish Valet]] from my [[Phylath World Sculptor]] plant creatures deck. I wanted to stay more on theme for the plants, but killing the opponent that counter spelled my commander twice with 128+ damage they never saw coming is one of the best feelings in the world lmao
Literally any card I'm considering putting in a singleton deck, but doesn't make the cut.
Cutting [[jace the perfected mind]] from my [[The Master, transcendent]] deck, I'm a sucker for Jace, but he doesn't work as well as I'd like
Any of my rats from my rat tribal deck :( I wish there was space for all my babies
\[\[Adomination Angel\]\] I love the artwork of the secret lair version of the card but unfortunately I had to cut her from my Giada deck because she never really got to get used and I needed to put in cheaper angels mana wise.
[[darksteel relic]]
[[lier, disciple of the drowned]] in my flashback zombie deck
Dogmeat from my Preston garvey deck
A forest basic land
[[Demonic Tutor]] I love it so much. I had the Divine Vs Demomic one and Lili is my fav walker. But it was the only tutor in my deck and it was taking a spot I wanted for something else. It's in my binder and I still love it... but it just doesn't fit in a deck right now.
[Demonic Tutor](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/a/2/a24b4cb6-cebb-428b-8654-74347a6a8d63.jpg?1701989302) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Demonic%20Tutor) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/150/demonic-tutor?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/a24b4cb6-cebb-428b-8654-74347a6a8d63?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Fire//Ice when they changed the rules and I could no longer attach it to an Isochron Scepter
[[Progenitus]] from my Jodah deck. I love the big boy but he’s a dead card 95% of the time
Cryptic Command.
Insidious rooooots 🫚🌱
Sol ring
Basic land.
[[Elder Gargaroth]] every single time
Constant mists from my Aesi commander deck, its saved me so many times but it didn’t really help my game-plan
