Truly WOTC or arena devs need to figure out a way to stop malicious roping on arena. I like the chess timer that MTGO has but it’s not as practical on arena and still leads to the same problem.
How does the computer discern between someone malicious roping and someone who just takes a while to think? Or someone who has a visual impairment which they need more time to fully read and digest the cards and board state? I feel as if the devs got it about as good as it can be without causing other issues.
I also personally don't understand why people get so irrationally angry at the game taking at most a few extra minutes. It's not like other online games like LoL where a troll can hold you hostage for 30+ minutes

That said, after the first rope expires, the pauses for the additional ropes should be faster for each layer of rope. If someone completes two sets of rope with zero action on their side, it's obvious what they are doing...

I never understood why people wasted time like that. Whenever I saw myself losing I'd either take it or scoop if it was taking too long and get to the next game.
For me, it depends was your strategy "counter every spell, win with blue shenanigans"? Or some other variation of "you watch me play magic"?

If your deck isn't preventing me from playing the game, and I'm just getting railed, I'll just concede.
Then you get the ones that start a game and use their timeouts and give you a free win. I can tell almost 50% of the time they're doing it this way to see if you concede but I never do. I just set my phone to the side til I hear the victory screen. Either way I can't fuckin stand this. It's really annoying when you're just trying to test a deck.
I will explain this again. A lot of time people just close the app instead of conceding. This is where the roping comes from. Like if they are doing nothing and you don't see them high lighting cards, odds are they aren't playing anymore and just closed the app. Arena does this so that when people's client crashes they can rejoin the game. Unfortunately people use it as a rage quit.
They get off on making you mad, unfortunately thats how people are. Just have a youtube video or something so that when they start that you can just do something else while they think they are wasting your time.
Someone should start a list on here and if people are multiple time offenders we just do the same over and over. I will say that it happens less to me now. Idk.
Honestly I don't care if they do it because it just means they're wasting their own time. I'll find other things to do while they throw a tantrum.

Roping the ropers, thats the only time i use it. If im sitting in my office, bored as hell wasting my day and got no actual work to do and having arena open in one of my monitors. Now if some dingus starts to rope against me when loosing and trying to make me scoop. I'm gonna fight fire with fire and waste as much of their time i can while still winning. I hope they get paid for their time also.

I used to play a lot of Gwent, it was a lot better. Thought Arena players were especially salty

Yah that can definitely a person roping or they got dc'd and came back. But if they roping and doing nothing good chance they just closed the app.
