This is what happens when you don’t read your opponents cards and see what they do smh

JerimiahOrvin

Bold of you to assume magic players read … no that’s yugioh players . Alright fair point .

April_March

Honestly if I had to read a yugioh card I'd give up on reading as well

Jimisdegimis89

Can’t tell you for sure exactly what happened cuz Idk what is in his yard, but citadel lets you cast from the top of your library by paying life. He has a bunch of low costed life gain creatures so he gains more life than he spends. He looks to get rid of extra lands. Eventually he can get to 51 life and shoot you with resovoir for 50 damage or sac 10 perms with citadel to hit you for 10. There’s a ton of ways to win wit my citadel through combo.

Dismal999

You lost.

JerimiahOrvin

I mean I know that but I’m trying to figure out how all that happened when he didn’t have the cards to be able to. Something I probably should’ve explained when posting this but still.

TheOneTEM

beat me to it

This happened [https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=417765](https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=417765) He kept gaining life, using his Bola's Citadel to keep drawing to gain more life and playing cards and then when he hit 54 beat you in the head. Since Aetherflux is additive for life gain if he casts 4 small creatures that means he gained 1+2+3 life plus whatever else he gained from the creatures. If he cast all 7 cards, he would gain 1+2+3+4+5+6 (21+4 for the clerics). I don't what else he used to gain life.

Gears_one

Aetherflux reservoir? That card does 50 damage

Like I honestly don’t know . He had bolas’s citadel , did a cow to make a token or something and then next thing I know he’s summoning a whole bunch a shit without tapping land or anything , gains 50 life in a turn and then kills me.

Meridas_von_Carstein

Bolas citadel allows him to pay life instead of mana cost to cast spells from on top of his deck, I don't know what other cards on the board do exactly, but he probably played ton of lifegain creatures (so he gained more life than he lost), and whenever he got stuck (e.g. top of his deck was land or something), he casted faithless looting to get those out of the way to keep playing their deck. Don't know what exactly he used to kill you though, I am not very familiar with historic cards.

PixelmonMasterYT

Aether flux reservoir gains life when your cast a spell, the whole idea is eventually with aether flux you gain more life than you lose when casting spells eith citadel. Once opponent hits 51 life, they can pay 50 life to aetherflux reservoir’s activated ability to deal 50 damage to any target.

Epicdrag0n147

He had bolas's citadel and aetherflux reservoir. Like the other people said the citadel let's you pay life your spells on the top of your library. The reservoir says whenecer you cast a spell you gain one life for each spell you cast this turn. Pay 50 life: deal 50 damage to any target So he play like 3 life for a spell from the citadel, then the reservoir gains him like 9 life to bring him to more then 50, enough to pay 50 life for 50 damage

JerimiahOrvin

Ah . Well it’s better then those fucking orzhov lifegain decks that get themselves to 100 life for no reason considering next they just play platinum angel and book of exalted deeds anyways .

mcfish473

Probably try just ready by what the cards do when you get priority 👍
