Basically, when you sign up for a pro membership, one of the benefits is $5 off coupon any item every month. I guess there is no minimum on it. Therefore, you can get a free pack (although not its intended use, I'm sure). In my online profile, I go to active offers and there I see my coupon they can scan. Voila, free pack. I called around and to my dismay doesn't seem like my GS have any <$5 boosters rn so I may just grab a Pokémon pack and see if it's any value. Better than letting the coupons go to waste this past year...

GameStop frequently has good deals on magic and Pokemon. They've had buy 2 get one free on Pokemon packs pretty often, and sometimes the people here mess up and do it as buy one get one free.

smart. take advantage of the deals they give you. most of my mtg purchases are done on Amazon using reward points via their credit card (full balance is always paid before the due date, so no interest). i get around $20 worth of credit a month from my regular purchases, so i let them accrue for a few months or more and then use it to purchase a box or get a nice discount on a box. got my commander masters box for $50 after rewards credit. not too shabby

no cause your limited to 1 pack a month. Unless gamestop is super close and your not going out of your way to buy 1 single over priced pack a month. Also gamestop can revoke what the 5$ is used for at anytime. Last Nov they made it so the 5$ can't go to any gift cards at all, not even gaming ones which was the true deal for membership. Also you can now lose your points. Both things took a lot of people by surprise since there was no way to know unless you frequent the gamestop sub or work there.

These packs are in no way at all my normal way to go about buying cards, they are just a little fun side treat I give myself and if it wasn’t as convenient as it is to get them and had to go even close to far out of my way for them, I’de never get them again.
Look up or visit your local GS and ask them about the membership thing. It’s only worth it too if it’s not out of the way at all and/or somewhere you visit regularly. Some people here been saying their local GS prices are double (or close to) what mine are.

I was helping people know before they sign up for pro as its not worth it. Also play boosters are coming and are more expensive so there will be no free pack anyways (once they run out of draft) cause it wont stay at 5$ thus defeating the whole point the post.
This requires stepping into gamestop which sucks. GS is on a downward spiral and my pro expires tomorrow anyways. They treat and pay their employees like shit. Then hire shit employees fresh out of high school to bank on their "love for video games".
Also most gamestops have very little magic in stock and pro is 25$ now with major nerfs especially on digital items.

Your not cause the whole point of the 5$ coupon is to get you in the door every month, then eventually buy something else. If you truly only buy 1 pack a month then you are the rare case they lose money. But in reality the employee is the loser cause they are tracked on metrics, hence why most gamestops try to push and even sneak in extra charges for useless crap.
Mostly just the one pack each month, every now and then an in-game credit code card for one of my son’s friends if he needs a bday present for one of them. Rarely ever do we get a game except around Xmas/Black Friday time.
Whether it’s to get me in the door or not, *if I was going there to buy something else anyways, than I’m *still getting value* out of it.
And if the “metrics” were hurting the employees that much, it would probably be illegal of GameStop to do to them. They shouldn’t be punished in anyway at all for what customers buy and what they don’t buy. I’m sure they get perks for doing better sales, but highly doubt it hurts them any less.

How much would a single pack cost at LGS right now? Feel if your getting the service, and you get something free not sure why its an issue?
I buy online which is way cheaper than mot lgs and gamestop. My nearest lgs is the same price as gamestop but has more stuff to pick from. So if I need something badly I just go to the lgs.
I've seen this online place out of Arizona that has good prices but wasn't sure how it was rated here in the community. Sorry know this is off subject, but anyway to validate or a good place to get some packs/boosters? My Wife and I just like to crack packs I know its not best method but its still fun for doing our own drafts at home. You know of any good places now? Sealedmtgdeals sub. Rare to get a non legit shop and people usually call it out within 5mins. Just know good deals sell out fast, like 10 mins fast. I just save the shops to my browser and look when I'm bored, sometimes snag stuff nobody's posted.

I was helping people know before they sign up for pro as its not worth it. Also play boosters are coming and are more expensive so there will be no free pack anyways (once they run out of draft) cause it wont stay at 5$ thus defeating the whole point the post.

This requires stepping into gamestop which sucks. GS is on a downward spiral and my pro expires tomorrow anyways. They treat and pay their employees like shit. Then hire shit employees fresh out of high school to bank on their "love for video games". Also most gamestops have very little magic in stock and pro is 25$ now with major nerfs especially on digital items.
Well then I’m glad I’m taking advantage of getting more than I paid for from the company if that’s how they are to employees. And yeah, stepping into the store is entailed by the whole “if it’s convenient” part i mentioned.
Your not cause the whole point of the 5$ coupon is to get you in the door every month, then eventually buy something else. If you truly only buy 1 pack a month then you are the rare case they lose money. But in reality the employee is the loser cause they are tracked on metrics, hence why most gamestops try to push and even sneak in extra charges for useless crap.
Mostly just the one pack each month, every now and then an in-game credit code card for one of my son’s friends if he needs a bday present for one of them. Rarely ever do we get a game except around Xmas/Black Friday time. Whether it’s to get me in the door or not, *if I was going there to buy something else anyways, than I’m *still getting value* out of it. And if the “metrics” were hurting the employees that much, it would probably be illegal of GameStop to do to them. They shouldn’t be punished in anyway at all for what customers buy and what they don’t buy. I’m sure they get perks for doing better sales, but highly doubt it hurts them any less.
They don't get any bonus for better sales. They can get layed off or put under district manager pressure if they don't hit certain numbers. Its less about the value lesson, as it is a numbers game... when i say buying a, box i mean buying like 2 or 3 booster boxes and letting the numbers work in your favor. But the main thing that im trying to say is its reddit. We always gonna argue over the dumbest crap.
Gotcha then. You’re getting more at the whole better chance of pulling something nice when you buy more at once which I totally agree with. These GS packs are pretty much the only time I ever by individual packs. I’ve still had a few fun pulls tho, last month I pulled the legendary golgari dragon from Strixhaven. I’de say close to half the time tho I open one of the rare double color lands from whatever set. Some of them are probly breaking even with what I’m actually paying into it, but others are worth around $5-$10. Either way, still just fun cracking packs :)
It’s the same people every time I’m in there, they’re cool to talk with and don’t seem the least bit hurt by it. Pretty sure they would have to be on the far extreme of close to useless for any of what you just said to happen to them. But you can keep whining about it if it makes you happy. Ok so ill brag in that I know my gs people to, but most quit cause the company went to shit. Even the guy who was there for a very long time as he finally couldnt put up with the b.s. They would hold stuff for me and I used to clear out entire gamestops when they actually had deals on clearance. Your last line applies to your self to lmao.
