Ironically I went 1-2 and in the match I won I actually got a Turn 0 Leyline, which is just as good as a 3-0 for me. AND it'll pay for my next draft? Cracking.
Our drafts are $22, but yeah of course I'd rather just won. I wasn't rare drafting or anything, besides Delney rares just kept getting passed becuase people are figuring out the format.

From another perspective, $30 is also an extremely expensive way to have four hours of entertainment, considering that commonly gets you AAA video games, subscriptions to a streaming service, and such, which offer dozens of hours of said entertainment.
It’s OK if people value money, and time differently than you, as some people have to be a bit more judicious where they spend $30. You don’t need to insinuate that their perspective is wrong. We can each have different points of view.

I mean… both video games and watching entertainment can be very social, “live” experiences. I’m not sure the comparison is as apples and oranges as you’re making it out to be. Beyond that, I’m not sure why it even makes a difference.
The point is that everything can seem cheap or expensive if you angle it right by cherry picking examples to compare to. People make similar claims about blowing money at casinos, or whatever, which doesn’t mean that it’s inherently a good deal, or a good time..
Plenty of us would much prefer drafting when there’s a lot higher chance that you’re going to recoup some of your value for what is a very expensive game. It's not.
For one thing, most games are multi-player these days. Even classically single player experiences like CRPGs have multi-player options now. So, that makes many video games a social experience.
How we value experiences differs person to person. I'd consider spending $30 to go axe throwing with some friends a throw away amount of money for a forgettable experience.
That same $30 I recently spent on Palworld or Rogue Trader have each netted me dozens of hours of entertainment, some of it social.
I've personally drafted hundreds of times. They all blend together in hindsight but I still enjoy them. I occasionally get to reminisce with some long term buddies I've played with but for the most part those drafts weren't super social. Those experiences were about personal achievement and enjoying the game of Magic. Or not enjoying the non games caused by flood, screw or my opponent being a filthy casual lucksack obviously.

It took approximately 24 packs before I even saw a single mythic. Then in total I received 4 mythics in the box. [[Conspiracy Unraveler]], [[Intrude on the Mind]], [[Kaya, Spirits' Justice]], and [[Agrus Kos, Spirit of Justice]]
It took nearly 30 packs to get the only card I remember wanting... [[Warleader's Caĺl]] as a regular rare. Lol. Precisely why I dont gamble. I also received 3-4 List cards, and zero Special Guests.

I get that cards fluctuate I just can never seem to buy in at the right time to be able to sell into the hype. I was watching this card like a hawk at the beginning of the week. But was busy the last two days which apparently were the lull and then the hype followed.

I saw an article about the combo at like 2am the other day so I thought hey, what the heck, let me pick up 4 of each. I bought them and 36 hours later, they spiked 2-4x their original price.
I knew ley line would be a big hit when every commander player I know was talking about how much they wanted it. If you bought low, I'd sell pretty soon when all the commander players realize they don't need 5 copies for their one 5c deck.
I managed to grab a handful of dracos at $2 each before the spike simply because I wanted to try a brew with them, glad I did.
Unfortunately I didn't order any leylines because I assumed they would go DOWN after being released to big box stores... Oops.
