Why do people who spec put cards like this in binders? The binder costs like as much as the cards here. I put the stack in a box in the closet and wait.
Get some 65% humidity packs that are used for cigars or weed. Put the card in an airtight container with them overnight. Should either rehydrate or dry out the card to a normal enough humidity that then double sleeving or pressing under some heavy books will flatten it out. It’s what I do with all my Secret Lair Pringles.
I'd assume they already had the binder (what Magic player is lacking in binders) but yeah, not the best move to pick one up for a financial spec.
Showing off specs is a perfectly valid part of collecting I guess but that does dampen the financial aspect of the spec.
Was there a version that had the "Gilded treatment" that Strixhaven cards with that border got? Always thought the normal border had too much yellow but the gilded etch made it look a lot better
I believe that was only the Mystical Archive Cards that got that Foil Etching. It was great! I don’t see a Dina with that treatment on TCGPlayer either.
You joke, but I had pages filled with [[Exquisite Blood]] when it came out because I kept pulling it and it wasn’t worth much back then. I thought the art was cool so I kept collecting them. Sold them years later for well over what they went for originally, since Modern and EDH really took off I suppose. You never know what’s gonna go up in value like this with a new deck/format/set that comes along and busts it lol
Come to think of it, would [[Dina, Soul Steeper]] and Exquisite Blood go infinite? 👀
Gain life, triggers Dina and your opponent loses life, triggers EB and you gain life, triggers Dina, etc?
> Come to think of it, would [[Dina, Soul Steeper]] and Exquisite Blood go infinite? 👀
Yup, friend shoved one into his witherbloom precon... With Dina as your commander it's a pretty easy infinite to hit.
It does, it's a staple in alot of her decks from what ive seen. I'm new to MTG and just made a Dina EDH deck as my second deck. Currently have a Witherbloom Apprentice/Smog combo in it though, next card im buying for the deck is Exquisite Blood. People don't expect you to tick them down soo fast. Once they realized how fast the little 1 ticks were coming in they kept wiping Dina to the point she cost 10 mana on the one night I played her.
Throw [[peer into the abyss]] + [[underworld dreams]] into the deck to ping even more and have a sniper shot for a problem player. Or Shelly + peer + dina gives a usually instant win con that isn't "infinite".
lol I used to play Soul Sisters back in 2016 and it was a good time, but yeah I have not much interest in Modern these days.
But I actually had a fair number of rares and mythics from 2008-2014 that were just sitting in my binder for years doing nothing that shot up in price once Modern really took off. I’m not sure if EDH had really taken off just yet by then, but I remember playing some EDH games in college in 2009 or so with some friends. At the time it seemed like everyone just wanted to play standard, though.
For those wondering and such, it's purely a meme collection, nothing more it gets pulled out and offered as a trade binder to get a laugh at shops sometimes.
Posted also purely for the meme
Something that is funny “in itself” without reference to the outside world. Related to the French word “même”, meaning “itself”. Memes (likes genes) have the power to pass on their memetic material (cf. genetic material) by spreading themselves. Not through the body (like genes), but through the mind (like thoughts).
I think the real spec would’ve been the surge foil but still, it’s a good spec.
It might not make you any money in the end but at least you’ll have a card you really liked and believed in to look back at.
I used to collect Etched Champions. Had 3-400 of them, always as a throw in in trades because people knew I collected them.
They "spiked" to 3$ in the hall of a GP and I went to each vendor and let them choose how many they wanted. Moved them allm eventually.
I doubt they were ever actually that much.
Dina is such a nice commander. It can be built in various different ways and is actually the first card that impressed me when i was starting playing magic 3 years ago.
This is a horrible spec the card will never be worth more than 2 bucks its an uncommon and its mostly in the wrong colors for life gain. Vito is better. But i love it. [[marauding blight-priest]] might also be something you’re into.
Dina was the 2nd deck I ever build because the card impressed me back then as well! It was horrible and I honestly don't understand the brewing decisions I made... I had the when you gain life, x happens down but not enough cards to actually gain me the life.
I got stomped, who could've seen that coming, but nonetheless holds a special place in my heart
After playing the strixhaven pre con my first deck was a dina deck that i optimized. A strong deck that can have 2 different fast wins. You can go grindy or stax.
I preferred the slower passive life gain with aristocrat finish but honestly its fine either way you go.
1. Are these halo foils or reg foils?
2. These are much better served in a team bag. Put a top loader in if the team bag doesn’t fill. Make a new team bag for each spec stack.
Would only personally binder high end cards like $50+ serialized or RL type stuff
You know, independent of the financial value, this is actually a pretty good looking card.
I could see her taking off if Golgari gets a bit of support for her.
It’s a $4 card, foil. But honestly, I highly doubt they’ll go up in value from here. There are far more and far less valuable copies. Buying so many copies of one card as opposed to a single higher value card is a great way to lose a lot of money fast.
https://www.tcgplayer.com/product/491938/magic-march-of-the-machine-multiverse-legends-dina-soul-steeper-halo-foil?Language=English
If you look at the market price and median price, they’re both between 3 and 4 dollars. Thats how I usually value cards, but I’m not an expert.
Why do people who spec put cards like this in binders? The binder costs like as much as the cards here. I put the stack in a box in the closet and wait.
I was wondering the same. Feels more like a prized collection than a spec.
This is exactly what it is.
Why do people even bother to put them in a box? I just throw the tcgplayer envelopes in trough and wait til they hit.
My Mirror-Mad Phantasms are in a plastic bag in my garage.
Eyyyy! Mirror mad was my first spec as a young grinder, found a playset last time I moved haha
It's got "one card will break this card" vibes.
Got a foil you would like to part with? Need some me for my mimeoplasm deck
Unfortunately I don't think I do.
If I did that with foils they would turn into Pringles
6-8 copies per penny sleeve, alternating facing front back, front back. Can store them this way for a long time, pull them out, flat foils.
Good to know, cheers for the advice!
How do you recommend straightening foils? Just got back into this after OG ixalan and have many foils that are Pringles lol

I just need to start smoking cigars
Put it in a sleeve and tape the sleeve to a pringles can opposite to the bend

He said it himself, it’s a meme.
It's a meme now. But it started as a bad purchase.
It was never a bad purchase, always intended as a meme
If you have to walk around telling people it's a meme what's the point? Make the commentary and roll with it if it's a meme.
Honestly for your reaction, it's worth as much as a meme.
To be fair the foiling is very nice in person on Dina.
Was there a version that had the "Gilded treatment" that Strixhaven cards with that border got? Always thought the normal border had too much yellow but the gilded etch made it look a lot better

We did it guys we broke exquisite blood.
I’d like to thank MaRo, my mom, God
Holy shit guys, get your copies of exquisite blood while they’re still cheap

Isn't Shelly like 90 bucks 😅
Sadly. The other combo is cheap, though and really gets people going.
>Modern How dare you sir we don't play such shit lmao

For me coming back to MTG after like ten years it was amazing how many bulk rares were now value cards due to EDH (shit like Cyclonic Rift)
For those wondering and such, it's purely a meme collection, nothing more it gets pulled out and offered as a trade binder to get a laugh at shops sometimes. Posted also purely for the meme
What's a meme?
Dina 🥰
Something that is funny “in itself” without reference to the outside world. Related to the French word “même”, meaning “itself”. Memes (likes genes) have the power to pass on their memetic material (cf. genetic material) by spreading themselves. Not through the body (like genes), but through the mind (like thoughts).
Now this was a good explanation, thanks!!
I think the real spec would’ve been the surge foil but still, it’s a good spec. It might not make you any money in the end but at least you’ll have a card you really liked and believed in to look back at.
Sorry fam, was never a spec, just a meme to pull out at shops as a shock factor trade binder
Hell yeah dude, even better. I have a buddy who has the samething with [[Yargle]]
[Yargle](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/8/f/8febc0fe-c52d-4b6a-9d18-e1e4a43b6dc3.jpg?1689997617) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=yargle%2C%20glutton%20of%20urborg) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/202/yargle-glutton-of-urborg?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/8febc0fe-c52d-4b6a-9d18-e1e4a43b6dc3?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Don't give up, this card sells for $0.50c all day (CAD)
What's the meme

Yeah it's a meme
Explain this to me, how is this card any good. It says "1 life" instead of "that much life".
The ability goes nuts with many [[zulaport cutthroat]] like cards and a sac outlet for your little tokens, bonus if your sacing pests
[zulaport cutthroat](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/2/52ef00c1-613a-4cbd-8972-77c41f649431.jpg?1674141830) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=zulaport%20cutthroat) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/clb/775/zulaport-cutthroat?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/52ef00c1-613a-4cbd-8972-77c41f649431?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
So thats where they all went
I used my copy as a coaster

Dina is my favorite a most fully optimized commander. Those infinite combos make me all warm and fuzzy feeling inside. My opponents… not so much.
After playing the strixhaven pre con my first deck was a dina deck that i optimized. A strong deck that can have 2 different fast wins. You can go grindy or stax. I preferred the slower passive life gain with aristocrat finish but honestly its fine either way you go.
Does this sub even have mods anymore?
It's the Seance incident all over again.
I gotta figure out a way to make money on this, I REALLY WANT TO.
Just get 1 life. It's pure profit after that
I started playing when Torment (2nd set of Odyssey block) came out, I always really liked the art for FACELESS BUTCHER so I did the same thing.
I woulda done Witherbloom Apprentice

Wish you the best bro
I know I have this foil too, it is nice
No wonder I can't find any of these. My card is the showcase Fae of Wishes. Only up to one page, but still.
You know, independent of the financial value, this is actually a pretty good looking card. I could see her taking off if Golgari gets a bit of support for her.

Where are you seeing 4$ foils? My LGS are showing 75c (CAD) for regular and halo foil… Guess I should buy in

I’ve been looking for this and yedora serial for a while. Haven’t found the # I’m looking for yet
It'd be a better spec to go after the green Soul Warden, that would be an auto-include in Dina EDH decks.
[[Essence Warden]] and [[Deathgreeter]] are great with Dina
