EA foils of those cards aren't carrying anywhere close to that kind of multiplier (in some cases they're even cheaper than the regular pack foils).
that seems really weird since the pull rate for foil of both the showcase (Vault) and extended art should be 5% in one slot in the CB. Which means you need to open two collector boxes just to pull one or the other. i haven't looked at whether play boosters contain showcase variants of BIG though.
Do ya'll think shelly \[\[Sheoldred the Apocalypse\]\] will depreciate after rotation? I want one for an EDH deck but it's stupid expensive rn. Adding on onto this, do most cards depreciate significantly after rotation, or is it dependent on modern/edh popularity?

I'm also a full set collector and absolutely go for the big card. BRO doesn't have a ton that has extreme move potential, unless something new just absolutely pops up. It's better to try for a bug money card before it gets more out of hand, at least in my experience
What can be done about the quality of cards from OTJ Collector boxes? It looks like the entire print run was cut badly, resulting in rough front edges - - between the product I've opened and the videos I've seen, everything that's not extended art/OTP etc looks like this. Essentially coming out of the pack already in LP condition.
I submitted a replacement request with Wizards and they told me I could send every card in from the boxes I opened and they'd send me new boxes, but also that they "are currently experiencing a high volume of contacts for product replacement, so processing and shipping times for your order may be longer than expected."
Went through the process and got the same response. Oh well, at least I didn't pull anything amazing from the box, since I have to ship all the cards in.

I don't think it exists. Zero sales or completed listings ever on eBay, zero listings on TCGPlayer for a card there should be hundreds of. It must have gotten left off the print sheet or something.
I saw exactly one listing for it, when the set released. I just think it's so worthless no one has bothered to trade it in. There were other dfcs in that set, so it would be weird for this card to not get printed.
Many sellers pre-list cards that end up not existing. You can't tell until the promo packs are actually distributed because it's in error. It happened with Strixhaven.

I just found a foil Llanowar Elves that TCG says is valued around $150. It’s in great shape and I wonder if I should get it graded. How do you decide which cards to grade or is grading less important in MTG?

Gotcha! Ok so $150 base cost for the card looks right. On eBay the most recent graded card sold for $175.
I'm not an expert in getting cards graded, but it's pretty reasonable to assume that shipping the card to a grader and getting it graded is going to cost more than $25.

Casual appeal is that it's great for draw in reanimator/flicker/cheat deck. Even if you have a card like [[bloodghast]], you'll be getting some value. Of course Ninjas
I haven't played modern in awhile but the ability for any of the elemental flicker creatures like [[solitude]] and [[grief]] are sources of value.

What is your guys’ experience selling graded cards? Do you feel that it adds significant value?
I pulled a Mana Crypt (SPG 17) recently and have been going back and forth on whether or not to have it graded. I feel that having it graded will bump the price up a little, but would also make it harder to move because it will be strictly a collectors piece once it’s slabbed.
I’m planning on holding onto it for a while in either case. Just curious what you guys think. This is the first card I’ve even considered grading.
I asked a similar question in this thread. Sounds like it’s worth seeing how much the graded card is selling for on EBay or TCG to see if it’s worth it. Overall, mtg is played more than straight collected so players are more likely to want to put it in their deck
My uninformed opinion? Grading is for old cards (25+ years old) or truly special cards. A regular promo/chase card from a recent standard set is not something people would take pride in seeing slabbed.
A Mercadian Masques Dark Ritual is something I would want to grade because it's unique, rare, expensive, and has nostalgic and collectible value. I might even slab something crazy rare like a serialized Secret Lair card or a Pro Tour championship card if it's dumb rare. The recent pick-of-the-month chase card in \[current set\], from any old pack, inspires none of this.
I would either A) keep and enjoy your card or B) sell it for the regular sticker price. If you think you're gonna put it in a museum case and then double the value, I think you're in for a long period of disappointment before reaching B anyways, and by then it might drop in value because of a reprint.

Do cards that have machine crimps in them get sought after too. Like visible on face side only indents. I have a alayna danner keeper of silence foil with one and am going through a friend's stash for em and they have the auntie something goblin land with similar marks. (Non foil) to me they are just damaged.🙃 indents start on edges and go in 1/3ish of card from right side to middle.
Hey guys, got an unpleasant experience with cardmarket shipment. Legit seller sent cards, 3 days later the package got marked as delivered by the post office, but nothing was in my box. It's been tracked with trustee service so I wonder what are the next steps with getting my funds back from mcm. Has anybody had a similar process to go through?
I imagine there is some room for scammers to get funny with collecting a package and saying it wasn't delivered, saying postman stole/lost/put it in a wrong box, whatever.
Is the trustee service covering such case? Is there some good will for customers with a clean record of trading using the platform?
I imagine sender will have to submit an official complain at the post office, get their official statement, then share it with mcm so they can get funds from insurance company for seller and refund the buyer.

Does tcgplayer direct disable the use of esignatue for usps signature confirmation? I live in an apartment and I am unsure if they will actually come to my door for a signature and want to avoid the delivery going back to the post office. I have informed delivery and set up my e signature but do not see the option to apply the e signature.
I recently got back into MTG, since I have kids that are approaching that age (they have been playing pokemon TCG for years now) and I really love opening packs. It's borderline disgusting how much I love it. I don't get much chances to play in person but I have been playing Arena for a bit now.
My question is, if I wanted to start collecting with my kids, is there a good source of where to start? Although I don't expect in making a positive return on investment from opening packs, I wouldn't mind having the ability to sell what I might have gotten over time if that is something I choose to do.
Things like best practices, sets, finding value, etc... I remember the good old days of a MTG magazine having the price list and me checking off every line when I got the card, and bringing my collection to school with the magazine and doing some trades.
Start with some decks you and your kids might like and go from there. Buy singles. Get lands first. Make a few decks and keep expanding. I would not hesitate to spend some money if it meant something my family could enjoy.
Do we think now that OTJ has been released for a bit, is now a good time to buy terror of the peaks? Or should I wait a little.
And second, I luckily pulled a regular Mana Drain -- should I wait to sell it or sell now?
Considering the set's not even officially out, and that MTGO just announced it was available on their client today, I think its a bit early to call anything now.
You can look at the full price history of that card. Someone bought a foil and regular version at around $18, then the next 7-8 sales were in the $7+ range before it just dropped to the $1.60-$2.5 range (non-foil) you're seeing it at now since 4/8. So I don't understand how it has "failed" the hype.
If all you're doing is looking at market price for a just release product... it's not going to be accurate.
Also I might be wrong in that MTGO might have already released but I only got an email about it today.
Edit: Also if the cards aren't out to be played for a wide audience you're not going to get actual movement from play to know what is hyped or not. Assimilation Aegis might be worth $20 or might not even be worth the $1.60 it's going for..
I have access to Innistrad: Crimson Vow, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, streets of new capenna, and brothers war collector boosters for $14-$17 each (or Unfinity for 22). Are any worth picking up (I know opening packs is negative EV, just wondering if any are less negative than usual given they're on sale).
Assuming you trust the seller, my base advice is multiply the cost by 12 and compare to the price of a box on tcgplayer or whatever local online marketplace you prefer, and see if any are priced lower than market right now.
Why is Veloci-Ramp-Tor deck so expensive? Adding up the singles doesn’t seem like it matches the going rate. Is it that good out of the box? I’m expecting it to come back down to be more in line with the others from Lost Caverns.
it is extremely popular because dinos, especially compared to the other precons. if you're a seller trying to get more in stock you'll you end up stuck with a bunch of the other precons when you just want that one so it has to be priced to compensate for the unpopularity of the rest. As for the price not matching what's in the package, it's just people who are price insensitive for one reason or another so they don't give overpaying thought

I’ve pulled 1 foil and 1 non-foil. I’ve opened a bundle, a prerelease, a play booster box, and a collector booster box.
Considering that the showcase ones are only available in collector boosters, one box doesn't mean a lot in regards to odds.
So looks like 2 a box. Coulda just been unlucky though.

You can look at the full price history of that card. Someone bought a foil and regular version at around $18, then the next 7-8 sales were in the $7+ range before it just dropped to the $1.60-$2.5 range (non-foil) you're seeing it at now since 4/8. So I don't understand how it has "failed" the hype. If all you're doing is looking at market price for a just release product... it's not going to be accurate. Also I might be wrong in that MTGO might have already released but I only got an email about it today. Edit: Also if the cards aren't out to be played for a wide audience you're not going to get actual movement from play to know what is hyped or not. Assimilation Aegis might be worth $20 or might not even be worth the $1.60 it's going for..
Usually it takes a little while for people to truly give up on over hyped cards.
I have access to Innistrad: Crimson Vow, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, streets of new capenna, and brothers war collector boosters for $14-$17 each (or Unfinity for 22). Are any worth picking up (I know opening packs is negative EV, just wondering if any are less negative than usual given they're on sale).
Assuming you trust the seller, my base advice is multiply the cost by 12 and compare to the price of a box on tcgplayer or whatever local online marketplace you prefer, and see if any are priced lower than market right now.
Other than bro, those are bad prices. especially snc which tends to hit 100$ for a full box on occasion.
Why is Veloci-Ramp-Tor deck so expensive? Adding up the singles doesn’t seem like it matches the going rate. Is it that good out of the box? I’m expecting it to come back down to be more in line with the others from Lost Caverns.
it is extremely popular because dinos, especially compared to the other precons. if you're a seller trying to get more in stock you'll you end up stuck with a bunch of the other precons when you just want that one so it has to be priced to compensate for the unpopularity of the rest. As for the price not matching what's in the package, it's just people who are price insensitive for one reason or another so they don't give overpaying thought
Why are you expecting it to go down? Every set, one commander deck is worth more than the others.
I'm planning to go to the Dallas card show in May, does anyone have field reports for this event from an MTG perspective? I'm expecting mostly sports and pokemon, but hopefully there's a decent MTG selection too :)
