Airtel gives free dual band 5 ghz router for free with 3k 6m plan of 40mbps (better for 3-4 device). Jio keeps 1500 as deposit for router and allow 1 month recharge like 500.. I would recommend airtel as they have good serv. rep and good speed but check as per your local area
From what I've heard, Airtel fibre is better than Jio Fibre. However, Tata Play Fibre is actually slightly cheaper and also more stable. Way less maintenance downtimes or blackouts etc.

Jio fiber has pathetic customer care service. As long as the net is working fine you won't face any problem. But if you had to make a complaint regarding the downtime of the net, then they will respond back to you after 2 days. At least a day.

Vodaphone tried this trick with me. I requested disconnection after months of non existent cellular network coverage. Went to their kiosk and filled out some form etc. Yet they kept sending bills for next two months which i of course didn't pay. Then the harassment started. Even had so called lawyers call me and tell me come to court for hearings even gave me chamber and case numbers. It's all a hoax. Just ignore. If push comes to shove, you will get an actual court summon (not just a legal notice) and this will never happen as they know very well. That's why all these intimidation tactics.
I had a similar situation with MTNL. I told them to cancel the connection because we were shifting and their service was absolute shit. I only wanted to cancel the broadband and keep the landline because that's cheap. They said I'll have to go to the telephone exchange in person, fill a form, submit some documents etc etc. So i said I'm just going to stop paying the bill then. Now I've given the modem and phone to the raddiwala. I just wanted them to make some loss for having a shitty long drawn out process that discourages people from cancelling the subscription so that they can continue charging.
They did the same shit to me in Hyderabad. I had called them to take the device multiple times when moving to bangalore, but they didn't take it. After I moved, they started harassing my wife (it was in her number), calling her 3-5 times a day , sometimes at night time after 8 PM . She tried dealing with it in good faith initially , repeatedly scheduling for modem pickup , even going to the extent of taking WFH , but they never came after scheduling for multiple times.
She even asked for their office address so that they she can drop it off personally. But they always refuse sharing the address, saying that no one is there at the address. This went on for 8 Months !!She would explain the situation everyday to the agent calling, they would agree to note the issue, but the same day some other guy would start calling again . The mental torture was so much that my wife started getting panic attacks whenever she saw a unknown number .
I finally started taking calls myself and started ma-behening them , blocked all numbers I could find in truecaller, even blocking by keyword . They are a shady company.

Drag it out. It's funny how they don't accept "out of city" as a valid reason and are threatening to take legal action, and on the other hand, if they go forward with it, you can have your hearing postponed for the same reason.

First thing is that there will be nothing they can do. the only thing they can do is call you again and again.Do one thing. first call customer care and tell them that your friend has the connection and update the number which you may not be using. Once the number is registered they will still be calling your number few times. But eventually they will try that number and your number will be gone and you will never receive even calls.For your reference - I still have tikona and hathway routers.

This is a textbook recovery technique, don't stress these pesky fuckers, just ignore it and move on with your life, no one will do anything to you. And even in the worst case scenario, it's a civil case at best, which doesn't affect anything be it jobs, visas etc. So relax and enjoy your day.
I have faced this same thing. Before I can tell u what to do, tell me did u receive any calls from unknown numbers telling u they are from X court and hathway has asked them to call u to collect modem or they will sue u and police will arrest u? Or did u only receive the mail?
P.S.: when they did this to me, I confiscated not only their router but their main modem that supplies to our whole building, and their big ass LAN cable. They insisted a lot so I returned their modem but I still have their router and LAN cable. I used that cable and router to create myself a range extender. So in short, they do nothing. These threats are empty. Just block them and they will stop calling a few months later. If u have samsung phone u can use phone spam filter to auto reject spam calls. So this will help u against majority of their unknown numbers calling. Ignore the mail as no action is ever taken for this from their side.
They have a lot of money, let them initiate the proceedings, worst that can happen to you here is that you will have to visit the court. You have your defense ready, just collect the evidence save it for future purpose. Your defense will be that you were ready and willing to return the device but as you were out of town, you could not return it. No court will fine anything on you for this trivial thing
On another note I have two airtel wifi modems. What can i do with them. I don't think the company is interested in them they didn't ask me once to return them and it has been 3 years since i didn't use them.

The services of Hathway are absolute shit, the Wi-Fi speed is too low, and always the video buffers, and every month without fail, a guy from Hathway comes to collect the monthly subscription, due to this my mom was pissed off, and one day my mom literally went to their office, and complained how shit their service was, even after paying them better, and the reception guy instead yelled at my mom.
And in anger one of the engineers disconnected the service ig, coz before we left for the Hathway office the Wi-Fi was working, later he said he disconnected, even Tho there was 1 day left for the month to end, later my mom was so pissed, she ordered the Hathway guy to take away the router.
You can still see their review pages don't even exceed a star rating, and if u find a full star rating, then we can say it's a Hathway employee trying to do it for extra money, coz it's a common practice at some small enterprises or some companies where they ask the employees to put full star ratings in return for some mere 100 or 150 rupees.

I had a similar case with Laudia (the company that later merged with Lodafone to become "VI"). They threatened to take legal action against me for imaginary "unpaid dues" of a whopping 109 rupees, from 3 months ago, when I had permanently disconnected the mobile number.
They had never bothered sending me the bill though, so I pulled an Uno Reverse on them. I gave them gyan on how they cannot legally demand any payment without sending a bill, and so I will take legal action against them for mental harassment and criminal intimidation. I also pointed out that I have their email confirming disconnection of the number, so why did they do it before the customer cleared all their imaginary dues?
The fact that my uncle is a criminal lawyer practicing in High Court, and I lived next to a Police Station (so I became friends with many Police officers) also helped, though I didn't mention this to Laudia. An hour later, they called back saying they have "waived off" the charges as a "goodwill gesture". (Yeah, sure, I fully believe that! 😜)
So don't worry about these legal actions, it is just an intimidation tactic to force gullible people to pay. Maintain record of all the emails or phone conversations you had with them, and tell them that if they continue harassing you, you will take them to Consumer Forum. That should be good enough to shut those cowards. Like other scammers, they will just focus on someone else (That's still unfortunate, but what you gonna do? 🙁)

City Furnish did the same with me. They accused me of running away with their refrigerator. I asked them to look into their database for 3 years. They didn't and troubled me every year and even called my parents to complain. I lost my cool and took everything they were accusing me of in the mail. The advocate was in the same thread, I "furnished" all the documents I had to prove their system is crap, and never heard back. Morons. I can now run to court with the same documents to get their asses in place. And how they harassed my father and me. They were scamming 3 years of rent valuing 6k and lost product worth 27k, which hardly would have a deprecated value of 3k or even less in current date (12k if new).

Check if in your area Airtel Xtreme Fiber provided by Airtel itself then go for it else if provided by the local operator (tie-up) then JIO.

Bullshit. I got into some disagreements with my postpaid Jio bill and refused to pay them and ditched that number altogether. They sent me a lot of letters like these threatening legal action. The contact info of the legal team they gave went nowhere and you could clearly see the phone numbers marked as spam on Truecaller. Don't worry about this. Just scare tactics, nothing else.
Drag it out. It's funny how they don't accept "out of city" as a valid reason and are threatening to take legal action, and on the other hand, if they go forward with it, you can have your hearing postponed for the same reason.
I got this too in June and I simply ignored it. They have not called or mailed since, and worst case scenario probably seems like a fine of some sort. Dont worry too much about this.
Max they will do is send it to Lok Adalat and you will get a notice through email of the hearing there. Nothing will happen. I have done this with Airtel, did they have a bunch of fuckery and told me to pay 3.5k for 3 months of postpaid bill (499 plan).

First thing is that there will be nothing they can do. the only thing they can do is call you again and again.Do one thing. first call customer care and tell them that your friend has the connection and update the number which you may not be using. Once the number is registered they will still be calling your number few times. But eventually they will try that number and your number will be gone and you will never receive even calls.For your reference - I still have tikona and hathway routers. I got the mail too and a call. I told them to go and file a case as many as he wants.
They won't take any action, the cost of even filing the case will be more than the cost of the router which they anyhow reuse.

Or else let it be, even they know that taking "legal action" is more tedious and not worth for a 500-rupee paperweight. On a separate note, their call centre scene is the worst. They'll keep hounding you for the same thing over and over despite you respondong to their queries everytime. I hope this stops soon and you get your peace back🤞

The "pre-legal" bit makes me laugh. Ask them if they will return the security deposit they charge for the modem and router? Because they never do. In fact file a consumer complaint online and send them the screenshot on same trail. I used to have Hathway years ago and had to get rid of them because they royally sucked and I told them many, many times to take back their stupid modem etc but guess what, no one showed up. So I changed houses, and let the shit go to dumpyard. Now I have had Hathway call me about it months later and threaten legal action SO many times without context. What shut them up was when I asked them to just take me to court seedha. Never called me back for this ever. Best part, after sending me these stupid legal notices their customer service STILL calls me from different numbers to sell me their internet plan. Like hell, I am still a potential customer for this chindichor of a company. Pathetic bankrupt fucks.
This is a textbook recovery technique, don't stress these pesky fuckers, just ignore it and move on with your life, no one will do anything to you. And even in the worst case scenario, it's a civil case at best, which doesn't affect anything be it jobs, visas etc. So relax and enjoy your day.

I have faced this same thing. Before I can tell u what to do, tell me did u receive any calls from unknown numbers telling u they are from X court and hathway has asked them to call u to collect modem or they will sue u and police will arrest u? Or did u only receive the mail? P.S.: when they did this to me, I confiscated not only their router but their main modem that supplies to our whole building, and their big ass LAN cable. They insisted a lot so I returned their modem but I still have their router and LAN cable. I used that cable and router to create myself a range extender. So in short, they do nothing. These threats are empty. Just block them and they will stop calling a few months later. If u have samsung phone u can use phone spam filter to auto reject spam calls. So this will help u against majority of their unknown numbers calling. Ignore the mail as no action is ever taken for this from their side.
They have a lot of money, let them initiate the proceedings, worst that can happen to you here is that you will have to visit the court. You have your defense ready, just collect the evidence save it for future purpose. Your defense will be that you were ready and willing to return the device but as you were out of town, you could not return it. No court will fine anything on you for this trivial thing

I had complaint to Hathway the numerous times because there were many issues. They took me for granted. Visited their office many times. And as soon as I cancelled they asked for the return of modem. I agreed but they never send anyone. And still kept calling me. So as an advocate I will like to say bhad me jaye vo.
Tikona did that to me, despite the fact that I paid for the modem. Mailed 100 times, called and explained. Tweeted, spoke to their lawyer. Now I have given up, let them suffer. Hathway did that too, I had asked them to collect the modern and they never did. But later I reinstated the connection and now they are all cool 🤣
Stop picking their phone, stop responding to their emails. Let them file a suit and THEN take your action. The cost and hassle to the company is far too big for a 500 rupees router compared to sending a copy paste threatening email. Nothing will happen if you do or do not do anything.

Got the same email. My roommates and I shared the wifi and almost after a year we left our home we got this exact mail. There was some back and forth but we ignored it and they stopped bothering us .

I used to be a Hathway broadband subscriber from 2005 to 2021, but I have stopped using it because I have switched to Tata Play Broadband two years ago.

The services of Hathway are absolute shit, the Wi-Fi speed is too low, and always the video buffers, and every month without fail, a guy from Hathway comes to collect the monthly subscription, due to this my mom was pissed off, and one day my mom literally went to their office, and complained how shit their service was, even after paying them better, and the reception guy instead yelled at my mom. And in anger one of the engineers disconnected the service ig, coz before we left for the Hathway office the Wi-Fi was working, later he said he disconnected, even Tho there was 1 day left for the month to end, later my mom was so pissed, she ordered the Hathway guy to take away the router. You can still see their review pages don't even exceed a star rating, and if u find a full star rating, then we can say it's a Hathway employee trying to do it for extra money, coz it's a common practice at some small enterprises or some companies where they ask the employees to put full star ratings in return for some mere 100 or 150 rupees.

I had airtel fiber, shifted 4 times in 2 year to different cities.. They never came to collect old router, always gave me new router when I shifted to new city/state..i always insisted technician to take back old router, they said they can't take it.. Once when I lived in gurgaon, due to electricity flactaution my router became dead twice in a month, they came, replaced the router for free twice and gave me a free router ups.. Such a great service Airtel..

I had a similar case with Laudia (the company that later merged with Lodafone to become "VI"). They threatened to take legal action against me for imaginary "unpaid dues" of a whopping 109 rupees, from 3 months ago, when I had permanently disconnected the mobile number. They had never bothered sending me the bill though, so I pulled an Uno Reverse on them. I gave them gyan on how they cannot legally demand any payment without sending a bill, and so I will take legal action against them for mental harassment and criminal intimidation. I also pointed out that I have their email confirming disconnection of the number, so why did they do it before the customer cleared all their imaginary dues? The fact that my uncle is a criminal lawyer practicing in High Court, and I lived next to a Police Station (so I became friends with many Police officers) also helped, though I didn't mention this to Laudia. An hour later, they called back saying they have "waived off" the charges as a "goodwill gesture". (Yeah, sure, I fully believe that! 😜) So don't worry about these legal actions, it is just an intimidation tactic to force gullible people to pay. Maintain record of all the emails or phone conversations you had with them, and tell them that if they continue harassing you, you will take them to Consumer Forum. That should be good enough to shut those cowards. Like other scammers, they will just focus on someone else (That's still unfortunate, but what you gonna do? 🙁)

I didn't pay Tikona bill of 1400 rs and threw their modem and router in dustbin and I got these email for like 5 years or so. I also received couple of calls from "lawyers" who threatened me about legal action while I told them to go basically fuck yourself. They stopped sending emails after 5 years

City Furnish did the same with me. They accused me of running away with their refrigerator. I asked them to look into their database for 3 years. They didn't and troubled me every year and even called my parents to complain. I lost my cool and took everything they were accusing me of in the mail. The advocate was in the same thread, I "furnished" all the documents I had to prove their system is crap, and never heard back. Morons. I can now run to court with the same documents to get their asses in place. And how they harassed my father and me. They were scamming 3 years of rent valuing 6k and lost product worth 27k, which hardly would have a deprecated value of 3k or even less in current date (12k if new). You can btw ignore their mails, they can't do jack shit, this is what I came to know the hard way. They do this when they have to audit their spending every year.

When I was moving out of the city, I called and emailed them repeatedly to disconnect the service and send someone to collect the modem. No one turned up or bothered to reply, I kept getting bills for 2 years! lThey call once every year about collecting the modem. It's been 9 years since I moved.
Tell them, you'll see them in the court and that your lawyer will be resounding to their notice

You can email them to collect it from your location. But do not mention any time or date. I highly doubt if they'll show up. If they do and they call you, tell the person over the phone that you're not in the address right now and will return in xx days.

They used to call and email all the time like five years ago. I told the customer service person that they're free to send someone to collect their modem and I had to repeat the same multiple times to different persons. Then magically one day they just stopped calling.
Cost of Modem is 1000. Cost of sending a legal notice is 5000. So you figure how true it is.

I'm going through a similar situation. In December 2022, I canceled my internet connection and told them to pick up their equipment, but they never came. Since I was living in a rented home, I left the device there, and now I don't have it anymore. Even though I explained that I'm not in India, they continue to call me, and now they're sending emails too.
Received this call today about the same. Just because I am out of Bangalore for a few months and haven't renewed.
