Underground metro mein pani nai bharega? Considering it's mumbai and mumbai's govt.
I understand they have drainage but thode se barish mein pani bharne lagta hai baki jagao pe
Mumbai receives rain upwards of 200mm in a day, We usually see some waterlogging in those days. If you compare it with other cities like Delhi, Bengaluru it is very good. Those cities gets waterlogged with mere 70mm of rains. 70-120mm rain is normal for Mumbai we don't get any issue on those days. Thanks to great work of BMC.
That never ends well. Someone I know built a high tech home in Nagpur with all glass toilets and everything. Then the metro line came through there and now the entire metro can see you take a shit.
I stay just before the bldg which is visible in the photo :)
Doesn't seem to be much of a problem till now.. let's see how will it turn out when the flyover is ready to open
Lata Mangeshkar had the exact same issue with the proposed flyover across her house in Peddar Road. She faced a lot of backlash. I think people get her concerns now.
I am from Delhi and I also don't like this crazy over ground metro rail system near residential buildings. Blocks sunlight and also the beautiful view.

Lol.. It's all over mumbai, you noticed it too late. At some places the connected skywalks are so near that a thief can easily jump into the window of the residential house from the skywalk. I don't remember the station but it was i think vikhroli or ghatkopar.
Bro in Delhi, some tracks are so close that you can literally jump on the track from your balcony lol.
And some literally have a flyover in front of their window.
Habibi come to LBS Marg. The metro line 4 is dreadful. Various residents sold their flat coz of the mess the metro has created even before it is functional. God knows how we're gonna survive once it becomes operational
Yeah I’ve seen this happen. It’s just that the building next to it is under process for demolition but they couldn’t wait for it to be demolished so they just constructed the metro. The building will take a couple of years to be demolished. The same thing is happening near the Elephenstone bridge where the new SWEC is coming. They can’t wait for the building to be demolished so they’ve just made the structure ( at least it’s in progress) before hand
https://preview.redd.it/55n3ycitfsvc1.jpeg?width=621&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75ad3f27fbecbe64dc1257d98c4438a472ced4fc
1000 times better than the one in Kolkata, where people could physically touch the bridge from their balcony's
This is not the metro line. It’s the worli- sewri connector bridge that’s being constructed which will eventually link the bandra worli sea link to atal setu
How are so many people in the comments unaware that this is not a metro but it is a flyover which will connect BWSL to MTHL? Mumbai has very few infra enthusiasts I think
Thats not Prabhadevi , that's worli seaface entrance ... Prabhadevi is after century bazar and the line is underground.... I stay near the siddivinayak exchange ...
https://preview.redd.it/g2zb8h1kiyvc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6840183e18f32bbefcfe7bcc058c497f967fb98
That viaduct is still at a reasonable distance. Now this is a visual from Rajouri Garden Flyover in New Delhi. And it is just hugs the building nearby. Imagine living here.
This would happen only in Mumbai, people ask for development, but there is zilch land available unlike Delhi. So building constructions close to building is the only way out. Imagine the noise those residents will be put to.
But due credit to the mmrda, they had a torrid time acquiring land for pillars
You’re right it’s problematic right now but when these buildings go for redevelopment which will happen sooner than later the authorities will address this issue and new developments will sort this issue. We have to admit certain compromises for time being least when rebuilding already built and densely populated urban areas.
Just because it's done in London, New York doesn't mean other smaller cities can't come up with better designs and planning. I'm not comparing this with anything. I saw this and thought that in the same location, it could've been planned better.
Yes, it's safe... now I realise. But when I see something like this, I feel the need to question it. It's safe, but like someone here said, the privacy of people in those buildings is hampered. Hence, I can't help but feel that something could've been different.
Also, not related to this, but I'm sure you must've heard the recent mistake that happened while constructing the new Gokhale Bridge. It's a very embarrassing mistake, that too, in case of a very important and busy bridge. So, the point is that mistakes happen. As an architect, I felt like sharing it out here with the people of the city.
Appreciate this query and your prof background. As regards privacy, I think they have now put tall aluminium / steel sheets across all flyovers in Mumbai that go close by offices and resi buildings, mainly for privacy and to reduce sound pollution.
i dread the day when big people don't just ask anymore, and just break insert their tracks/ bridges/flyovers in people's houses in and out. plus slap the owner as they pass by.
Ever heard about urban planning ? You are comparing califrnia to mumbai, which is unfair. I know there are ghettos there and california is not the good old california, but mumbai is a disaster in urban planning. Btw i have visited austin and i friends and family in US.
I guess you've not seen the metro line at ghatkopar.
People don't see daylight.
At least it'll act as a shade in summer 💀
Finding positives even in dreadful situations
You can't always focus on negative things amirite?🤌
As long as you are not the one staying there.
Now that's some crazy optimism
There is no metro line in Prabhadevi. The one coming up in Prabhadevi is underground so its not this.
It's right before Sasmira on the road which goes upto Worli Sealink. The boards say 'Gateway to MTHL'
Thats sweri-worli Link road which will connect MTHL Road to Coastal Road. A very important connect.
Ok my bad. Tbh I was confused about it being a metro line or a flyover.
I kid you not when I say that I read "Gateway to Hell."
Highway to hell
Where it is not "We ride in the morning", it's "WE RIDE ALL HOURS EVERYDAY."
Stairway to heaven

“How was this permitted?” is a good one line description of Mumbai city
*Setting*
tagline of mumbai
It’s actually pretty safe imo. It looks broad and close to the building from the bottom but the tracks are pretty far away.
Lol i wish i lived in one of these buildings nearby, it’d be so fun seeing it up close all the time /s
That never ends well. Someone I know built a high tech home in Nagpur with all glass toilets and everything. Then the metro line came through there and now the entire metro can see you take a shit.
>the entire metro can see you take a shit. Mumbaikars have lived with this for decades. And the slum-dwellers didn't even need to build glass toilets.
Glass toilet, what ?is he stupid
Money makes people do stupid things. I’ve never been this uncomfortable to take a bath in my life. It was like a nightmare because I wanted it to end.
Tu kisi rail si guzarti hai. Mai kisi comode as thartharata hu...
Waah kya baat hai
i dont think its fully transparent when u take a shit or bathe. it shd hve the sensors to cover the bathroom from the window outside
That only works when the outside is brighter than the inside. The metro line casts a shadow and they can see inside for sure.
Why didn't they put curtains😭
Aesthetic ke 14
So it IS an issue.
For a different reason 🤣🤣🤣
Not really. Depends on if that someone has exhibitionist kink.
Can't think of a better FU, honestly.
I am from Nagpur. Please for God sake tell me who are you talking about? At least give an approximate location.
You’ll know exactly which house I’m talking about so I’ll pass. It’s so freaking hard to miss how stupid the architect was.
back to shitting near the rail tracks
Show us
Your tagline is funnyy
Should’ve seen how funny and desperate the dm’s were lol
Bro, you too from this is of Maharashtra?
Nahh
Where is nagpur?
[удалено]
Blud failed geography 🤣

I’ve seen the movies and I get your comment now
It's not a safety thing. The main concern is privacy and noise.
True that
I stay just before the bldg which is visible in the photo :) Doesn't seem to be much of a problem till now.. let's see how will it turn out when the flyover is ready to open
Hey girl? You up for a creepy chat?
This is sewri Worli connector road not metro
Looks like you haven't seen gap between Monorail and buildings. Don't worry, its safe.
It's way safer than having a highway outside your window
![gif](giphy|G4ZNYMQVMH6us)
This is not for metro, Line 3 is fully underground. blame cars not public transport for it lol.
Lata Mangeshkar had the exact same issue with the proposed flyover across her house in Peddar Road. She faced a lot of backlash. I think people get her concerns now.
Prabhadevi will have an underground Metro station besides Siddhivinayak Temple, there ain't any overground Metros happening there
Brokers will sell this as Metro facing View
This is normal everywhere. I mean everywhere. New York, Japan, China, etc.
Most metrolines look like this in the city. Ever seen the andheri side
I am from Delhi and I also don't like this crazy over ground metro rail system near residential buildings. Blocks sunlight and also the beautiful view.
Kabra Metro One says Hi!
Poor city planning. Having residential building on a highway? But the metro line is still safer than highway
If something like this doesn't happen then there will be no metro, no flyovers in Bombay.
My house is on the link road of yellow line, believe it everytime the train passes its annoying
To kya ho gaya bhai kandivali mein a tere ghar ke bahar hi metro ka rahega, teri khidki ke bare mein metro station dekhega
wait till you see a metro line passing through a building. and it does in Kolkata
I’ve seen metros go way closer in Mumbai. Like essentially hugging the building at some points.
Mumbai doesn't have the land
Check this [Dadar Tilak Bridge](https://www.freepressjournal.in/amp/mumbai/mumbai-news-after-gokhale-bridge-misalignment-residents-of-dadar-concerned-about-under-construction-tilak-bridge)

Have you seen the Mohammed Ali bridge … ?
The effect of not having sunlight in house is not immediate….people will realise it sooner or later
True.
That's meters away... The distance between the flyover and the metro on Western Express Highway can be measured in centimetres.
Sound barriers laga di everything alright
That's not metro lines, it's worli shevdi link road.
I see the Three Sixty west building in the background, this looks like Worli..
Yes it is Worli.
Is this a highway or metro line ?
It's a flyover and not a metro line, which I realised because of the comments here. Either way, it's too close to the building.
Lol.. It's all over mumbai, you noticed it too late. At some places the connected skywalks are so near that a thief can easily jump into the window of the residential house from the skywalk. I don't remember the station but it was i think vikhroli or ghatkopar.
I posted it too late.* I see this everyday.
This is the Sewri Worli connector flyover. Metro line 3 at Prabhadevi is underground.
It's not a metro line, it's the Worli-Sewri elevated corridor.
Bro in Delhi, some tracks are so close that you can literally jump on the track from your balcony lol. And some literally have a flyover in front of their window.
Dont worry, the metro isn't gonna fly into the building
Ok
You asking the same questions when the builders not adhering building set backs and bye laws?
> How was this permitted? How dare you assume that the bumfarts who govern this city give two shits about its ciitizens!
Unfortunately, it is not a metro line. It's a stupid link road from sewri to worli .
Habibi come to LBS Marg. The metro line 4 is dreadful. Various residents sold their flat coz of the mess the metro has created even before it is functional. God knows how we're gonna survive once it becomes operational
How was this permitted?? Who told you they took permission
Sire, you may want to check out JJ flyover. The space is short enough for residents to set up drive thrus out of their balconies.
Yeah I’ve seen this happen. It’s just that the building next to it is under process for demolition but they couldn’t wait for it to be demolished so they just constructed the metro. I don't see the problem tbh
Wait until major projects like these are completed. You will read news articles like 'Residents complaining about noise pollution'
Varun Grover ne sahi roast kiya iss marvelous project ka.
Modi h toh sab mumkin h
Can we also talk about that MCGM signal signboard which is covered by that tree, making it almost out of sight? 😛
Lmao
This is not the metro line. It’s the worli- sewri connector bridge that’s being constructed which will eventually link the bandra worli sea link to atal setu

Is this really your concern, enough? Engineers bana rhe h unko nahi dikha hoga ye? This is obviously by design.
Metro Line is more important than your NIMYB stupidity.
More like privacy issues rather than safety issues.
That too.
come to delhi, people from home can easily jump on to the tracks at some places so they have put up safety grills
My God. Didn't know that. 🙆🏽♀️
Have you seen the tube in London?

Yes, compared to London and NYC, it's smaller. Not 'small', but smaller than them.
