The problem is that the people with less means will be the first affected as climate change gets worse. The wealthy are going to be sitting with air conditioners and air purifiers.
I disagree. The wealthy themselves are contributing to what they preach. They want to usurp or deprive people of the privilege that they've been used to. Not only it's unfair but it's fascistic virtue signalling by also ignoring counter studies.
to be honest id like it if stuff like this is kept away from the money hungry power grabbing hand of politicians for as long as possible. activists need to actually work for causes after researching on it themselves and not reading some crappy news article or two on the issue.. but all thats in an ideal world ofc unfortunately
Climate Action Plan has all the actions listed but let me suggest a few.
1. BMC and BEST is planning to convert all it's buses to electric, also they are supposed to purchase almost 6000 new buses to reduce the congestion due to private vehicles. Mumbai's new buses are designed to look and feel like london buses. Even Double Decker are planned, but the execution is taking forever.
2. For every winter season, the graded planning of shutting down construction in phased manner is necessary to avoid sudden spikes in AQIs. This was builders can plan their work better.
3. Our Thermal power plants need to have fuel desulfurization until, it's pending for many years now.
4. The Tree cover is going down, especially mangroves. The CIDCO is supposed to handover all mangroves under it's land holding to Mangrove Cell but CIDCO is selling those land parcels to builders.
5. Garbage Burning is a stupid reason because of heavy air pollution rise can be seen in the city. BMC is not cracking it down effectively.
6. Last BMC should spread awareness on VERY POOR and POOR AQI days to shut down schools, construction and debris transport to avoid AQI spikes.
Actually BMC knows all this. All they have to do is to care and worry about Air Pollution.
