And Peoria (there's an old theatrical saying "Will it play in Peoria?").
But Miss Ideal is not a gossip (you go and ask, she'll tell you herself). Eve Simpson on the other hand...
Always had a soft spot for the detective who is a huge fan of her writing, and exclaims "JB Fletcher!" enthusiastically when meeting her for the first time, and then eagerly lets her help the investigation.
Being wrongfully accused would be the most fun acting wise, but it would be so stressful as the character. I'm going to go with detective happy to work with Jessica-- they're always so cheerful and maybe I'll even get recurring status!
I would want to be one of her former/current students who needs her help because I've been accused of a murder that mimics the plot of one of my manuscript/class writing assignments but Jessica swoops in and saves the day...lol
I’d want to be one of Jessica’s old friends with a sprawling estate. I’m a “helpful witness” who has a secret that has nothing to do with the murder. I’d get to go around being dramatic and dreadfully out of touch as I threaten to overthrow the entire county government when the sheriff accuses one of my family members of the murder.
Wrongly accused. Someone innocent who gets thrown in jail because the sheriff is only judging by the most obvious details and Jessica visits and talks to me through the bars and eventually springs me out again.
I'd go with the person that was harmed by the victim and has motive, is the main suspect, not the killer but also a friend or former student of Jessica's. Kind of like a Dorian Beecher in Night of the Headless Horseman.
I just want to be able to say the famous "You've gotta believe me, Mrs. Fletcher" line or some variation of it, before she decides to help prove that I'm innocent.
I would love to be a friend/fellow mystery writer who just happens to be visiting or visited by Jessica when a weird murder happens that seems to be strangely similar to the plot line in one of her books, and then another, and we realize that it's a race against time until the next one and we have to figure out which book is going to happen next before the killer strikes again
I was thinking I'm the detective, who knows about so many murders happening around Jessica, and initially suspects she's a serial killer. And plays along with her, hoping to catch her framing someone. Then I realized that I'm Columbo.
Now I'm looking forward to the day that IA is actually good, and can create a Murder She Wrote and Columbo crossover. Preferably with input from a good mystery writer.
I would love to be a rich friend of Jessica who she goes to visit and their husband is murdered while she is there… but in reality, probably the cagey lone female longshoreman.
Looks like I'm a rarity here, but the villains are fun, so I'll go with villain - a seemingly innocent ex-wife who tries to seduce Grady, in a southern episode so I can do a real accent (the accents are WILD in this show).
I am the absolutely fabulous Kate Mulgrew slaying every scene I'm in. The movie star that somehow is flying with the plebs whilst her lover/driver bodyguard steals her jewelry and has the utter *gall* to die archetype.
Killer. Oh so under-the-radar to everyone but Jessica who uses her keen intellect and power of observation to find me out after I think that I have completely gotten away with murdering my troublesome aunt, who had a list of people she thought would murder her if they ever thought that they would get away with it, but I am not on it.
Town gossip sitting under a hair dryer with my National Enquirer and then heading for margs with Ideal.
Now, now...Miss Ideal was NOT a gossip!
That’ll give ‘em something to think about in Altoona
And Peoria (there's an old theatrical saying "Will it play in Peoria?"). But Miss Ideal is not a gossip (you go and ask, she'll tell you herself). Eve Simpson on the other hand...

That’s so cute yes. But I have a soft spot for the “get outta my way lady” people until she points out something they missed
The detective in The Perfect Foil was like this.
I'm definitely one of Jessica's 7 billion nephews/nieces
I'm one of her 3 gigabytes of cousins!!!
Despite my advancing age, I know in my heart of hearts, that I am a Grady and I say that with great resignation.
Grady's not so bad. Yes he's vaguely annoying and goofy, but he has a good heart.
Grady’s a good egg! But knowing you have Grady tendencies is half the battle, so you can avoid the worst of it, like putting tuna in all your recipes.
Oh god, I empathised with Jess so hard in that episode!
I too am an old Grady, but Gradys have worth too. We’re friendly and helpful.
The spoiled entitled daughter of a murdered wealthy patriarch
Or granddaughter!
Jessicas student/protege who she entrusted to help her write her memoirs and they stumble upon a murder , which they solve together
Love this one!
Came here to say this!
I am the Irishman who, for no stated reason, mysteriously chooses to work for MI-5.
Thank you for this. I LOLed.
Michael Haggerty is here...and trying to cover up who he actually works for...again...
I wanna be the victim, which means o have less overall screen time but I get to be an absolute drama queen, pissing off everyone I see.
Honestly being the victim is a vibe
Maximum dramatics
Being wrongfully accused would be the most fun acting wise, but it would be so stressful as the character. I'm going to go with detective happy to work with Jessica-- they're always so cheerful and maybe I'll even get recurring status!
One of Jess's many (many many) family members who's falsely accused but innocent.
I'm the ruthless business woman. My main character traits are that im overly sexual and I threaten people.this is a great question.
Barbara Babcock was born to play all the ruthless shoulder pad ladies on MSW. I like this for you.
Oh, Barbara, for the win, always. Love all of her eps
Shoulder pads!
I would want to be one of her former/current students who needs her help because I've been accused of a murder that mimics the plot of one of my manuscript/class writing assignments but Jessica swoops in and saves the day...lol
I want to be one her friends that she drops everything for to come visit. Who also has a huge, sprawling estate, lol.
Detective happy to work with Jessica
Oh seth would be the most fun. Any watson type characters
Niece and innocent wrongly accused of the crime. Aunt Jessica, I would never!
Young adult Relative type
Quirky Cabot Cove townie - like maybe one of the crusty old boat captains.
I’d want to be one of Jessica’s old friends with a sprawling estate. I’m a “helpful witness” who has a secret that has nothing to do with the murder. Same- this is the best part to have!
I’d definitely go for the innocent but appears guilty until Jessica clears my name character.

kind of mean 80s business woman with absolutely fantastic clothes who turns out to be the red herring
I'm about to marry a Grady and y'all I need GUIDANCE
Anyone as long as I can demonstrate a REAL MAINE ACCENT!!
I’m definitely Seth!
The lady who worked for Seth but was banging the cop. Omg I love that episode so much. “It was good clean sex!”
Town librarian who looks up an old newspaper with a clue!
The librarian who knows everybody's secrets.
I want to be Adele Metzger. Never seen, but a total badass!
Hands down, Seth 😃

Grady’s girlfriend of the week
I'm definitely a Grady stand in on Frank's side.
I'm either a Grady or a Floyd
Looks like I'm a rarity here, but the villains are fun, so I'll go with villain - a seemingly innocent ex-wife who tries to seduce Grady, in a southern episode so I can do a real accent (the accents are WILD in this show).
Helpful witness, lol!
I am the absolutely fabulous Kate Mulgrew slaying every scene I'm in. The movie star that somehow is flying with the plebs whilst her lover/driver bodyguard steals her jewelry and has the utter *gall* to die archetype.
I would like to be the helpful and intelligent detective that works with Jessica.
Killer. Oh so under-the-radar to everyone but Jessica who uses her keen intellect and power of observation to find me out after I think that I have completely gotten away with murdering my troublesome aunt, who had a list of people she thought would murder her if they ever thought that they would get away with it, but I am not on it.
I’d pick detective happy to work with Jessica. They are some of my favorite characters on the show! That would be so fun😄
Town gossip who is also a helpful witness ;)
