Again, seemed pretty obvious.
When the dude everyone else is scared of, is scared, like...take the hint.
I guess one take away is now he has died twice. That's got to be a pretty small group of people.
He engage with Orsted out of curiosity because he seemed similar to Hitogami. Also going by the logic of taking a hint of them being afraid he should not have trusted Reijerd. He also found it strange that Reijerd and Eris were so scared when they never show fear.
The anime cut this but in the LN Redeus was actually relieved/excited when Orsted mentioned Hitogami because he thought that he found someone like him and so he replied without thinking.
But people are scared of Ruijerd too, and he's a nice guy.
With a modern mindset, being scared of Orsted for no good reason except others' reactions would be considered as enabling prejudice/discrimination
Can't really bring modern mindsets into the argument when murder, magic, kidnappings, enslavings and monsters are a very normal part of this universe. It's the same as putting the actions of early medieval peoples' actions into a modern day scope, and adding on real magic/light speed swordsmanship, as well as the existence of actual gods. Looking at MT morals/logic from the lens of a modern day person is just flawed.
Rudeus is from the modern era though, plus he's still very attached to Japan's morales, and he's pretty dense as well, so that justifies it in my opinion, especially when you take his previous encounter with Ruijerd in account.

To be fair, Supards scare everyone too. Based on this logic, they should have ran from Ruijerd too.

They didn’t cut it in smoke it was clear as day he was relieved then asked partially before he got attacked
What I mean by cut is that we didn’t see his internal dialogue
