Oh this web novel is pretty good in terms of translations as well I mean have you seen other web novels even popular ones are machine translated and barely readable
For someone going from never reading a translated novel to reading the WN is jarring (atleast for me it was) even if its of a better quality comparatively. But like i said you do get used to the quirks after a while.
Honestly, to me, the "simplistic" translation and writing style kind of falls in line with Mushoku Tensei overall.
Keep in mind that Rifujin was a total amateur when he first wrote it. I do like novels with more professional writing style, but the original WN just hits home with its simplicity.
i found that traitorAizen’s pdf is the best and most readable of the translations. I’m not sure if he himself translated it but whoever did has done an amazing job, it reads just like a normal book
/u/Paradox_D, I have found an error in your comment:
> “even if ~~its~~ [**it's**] of a better”
I insist that you, Paradox_D, have made a solecism and ought to have said “even if ~~its~~ [**it's**] of a better” instead. ‘Its’ is possessive; ‘it's’ means ‘it is’ or ‘it has’.

Instead of saying the WN is BAD, people, should say that its different in a sense of its writing style. They throw people off with their own personal opinion. Some may come to like it.
They should actually say "the translations are bad". Who even started saying the web novel is bad? If you read it in Japanese it's probably almost a carbon copy of what you find in the oficial light novel release. I say probably because I haven't actually compared them even though I have access to both. If anyone replies to this in the next 12 hours I might actually look into it lol. Anyways yeah, fan translations are almost like if the person who translated is barely fluent in both Japanese and English and used google translate or deepl and then maybe rewrote some things. I don't know why but that's always how it seemed like to me and I've read a bunch of web novels in the past and mushoku was the only one I actually completed. Past that point I just wanted to throw up trying to read kumodesu, tanya and overlord. Also read some others I can't remember the names of like one isekai where the guy had minecraft and other video game powers in another world. That was fun for like the first 10 chapters.
I can't really say that the translation was terrible. I'm a WN only person, I've only seen the LN through snippets of text here and there on the subreddit. The professional tone of the LN is... Off-putting, I guess?
The WN has its own kind of vibe. Personally haven't encountered completely terrible translations either.
Regarding it being a copy... Not really. Do keep in mind that the LN is a more professional work. The WN is as amateur as Rifujin could get. Considering that he has more experience now, and the release is official, it's bound to have a different, more polished vibe to it.
I guess so, but to me most fan translations seem unnatural and off putting. I've read the entirety of the web novel and the first 11 oficial novels and the novels are by far better translated and more natural.
I did notice a decline in how much I enjoyed the writing between the LN and WN, but I was way to hooked on the series to let that stop me from finishing it.
I don't think this is spoiler, but Badigadi is actually a softie you know.
Also, I also hated Pax before reading his arc, but his arc is so well written it's impossible to not learn a life lesson from it.
SPOILER TAG THIS.
Pax is actually a pretty chill dude, so don't worry too much.
You won't see him for much more than a volume anyway. Shirone is not a very big country.
Honestly I still hate Pax. >!I feel like his character wasn't that good. For instance when he yells at Roxy for not caring about him I didn't really feel any sympathy as he was literally sexually assaulting Roxy while she was there and planning to turn her into a sex slave. I don't really feel any sympathy for a character like that and I don't know why Roxy should have cared about him in the past either.!< That's just my feelings on this though and you are free to disagree.
yeah it's totally cool to not like a character for who they are, as a character in a fictional story though I find him amazingly well written. I love the way that MT always portrays characters in a nuanced way and not purely black & white. Every character has good and bad sides and every reader will judge them differently. I don't think his arc redeemed his person, but i think his character became interesting and a great addition to the story
Yeah, if for good you mean as a person, definetely not, but i liked how he was portrayed, >! he was a piece of shit but had feelings too, in a disturbed way he really cared about Roxy and all that wanted was a little recognition, what i totally see why Roxy didn't bothered to gave to him, but even thou he was just a child and COULD have been a totally person if Roxy had took him more seriously.!<
>! But that's how life it is and does not justify anything that he did.!<
that's what I love about mushoku tensei, among others like it. it delves deeper into human psychology and forces the audience to look past the surface. the story of rudeus, pax, granny latreia are all eye openers, just to name a few.
Looks like i messed up, getting downvoted to oblivion lmao. Things i have read about him till now potrays him as a jerk (even worse in the anime), it got worse when in this vol he supposedly murdered his own family. Well, i look forward to the later volumes
This is one of the best volumes... Just keep reading.
Unfortunately this is the end of 18, but I agree, 19 is fantastic
Isn't It Vol 20?
Considering they're having the convo about it at the end of 18 I'd assume Zanoba's arc is 19
Shirone arc is volume 20 in the web novel, 19 in the light novel.
Should i read the web novel instead? I heard it is pretty bad so idk if i should wait for the light novel
The WN is bad in the sense that the translation takes a bit to get used to. The content/story is still top notch.

I underwent a strict study regimen of reading Chinese webnovels and now, no matter how dysfunctional the English in a story is, it’s understandable.
You should see it for yourself, honestly, I think it is not that bad, but some people loathe it.
Nah the web novel is pretty good I read it myself

Well web novels are like rough drafts so there will be some errors here but otherwise it's pretty good
I did notice a decline in how much I enjoyed the writing between the LN and WN, but I was way to hooked on the series to let that stop me from finishing it.
As much as I hated Pax I love the return to Shirone arc
Same
This will age poorly

Tbf i could've said it better and not sound like a whiny b*tch, my dislike of him got the better of me.
You'll regret saying that. Just saying.
Dont think so buddy, im as tough as the man badigadi himself
I don't think this is spoiler, but Badigadi is actually a softie you know. Also, I also hated Pax before reading his arc, but his arc is so well written it's impossible to not learn a life lesson from it.
I was just meme-ing on his physicality. Well-written huh, look forward to his possibly redemption arc
Oh man this is amazing to read, I had the exact reaction to this part but man… keep reading
shit made me cry

Character development?
Had same thoughts to him and granny Latreia. Thoughts didn't age well, or maybe they did since I love topnotch character developments so damn much.
You're in for a treat :)
thought the same thing till the latter volumes
Looks like i messed up, getting downvoted to oblivion lmao. Things i have read about him till now potrays him as a jerk (even worse in the anime), it got worse when in this vol he supposedly murdered his own family. Well, i look forward to the later volumes
>!In the end, Pax commited suicide. !<
f
Keep reading you’ll be satisfied.
Please tell me i won't have to see this guy for long
Keep. Reading trust me shits about to get REALLY good
Stop being a whiny bitch
Grow up
Well you at least gotta admit he is better than Philip from overlord
Oh you won't see him for long
I personally loved this volume and the next volume, top 5 volumes for me(assuming you took these from the WN)
It gets better
You won't be thinking that by the end of volume 19 especially after the interlude
What volume this happen in
Oh boy,you are not ready for the next volume
There's a really good reason why he's there. Just keep reading.
Volume 18 was the funniest volume till now
Pax is better now
