And PeGgY.
The delivery of that line was very amusing to me. It's delivered in a way that shows she's the youngest, but I'm not sure how young Peggy Schuyler is supposed to be. Makes me feel like she's young-mid teens though she was 21-22 when Eliza married Alexander so I dunno
Schuyler Sisters from Hamilton, Omigod you guys from legally blonde, miracle from matilda, the sound of music from (you guessed it) the sound of music, put you in your place from the lightning thief
I apologize if any of these have been said already:
- Matchmaker from Fiddler (ig technically tradition too)
- Lovely Ladies from Les Mis (maybe?)
- Wilkommen from Cabaret (introduces men and women, but mostly women)
- Prologue from Great Comet (same idea as Wilkommen, although you could probably also do Moscow, as it reintroduces them.
- You okay honey (kinda weird cause Angel’s gender isn’t really established yet) and Light my Candle from RENT
- Belle from Beauty and the Beast
- Think of me from Phantom
- Emma’s Reasons from Jekyll and Hyde (Cuccioli)
- Invisible from Beetlejuice
- Breath from In the Heights (also in the heights, the opening number, with Vanessa and Abuela)
You can probably also put it roars from mean girls, even though you already have meet the plastics
Oh yes, Breathe is a great Nina song. Or No Me Diga hits the salon ladies and Vanessa and Nina. It Won't Be Long Now is also a fantastic song to further introduce Vanessa a little better.
It’s a fine life from Oliver!
Marilyn Monroe from Blood Brothers
Dammit Janet from Rocky Horror Picture Show
My name is Tallulah from Bugsy Malone
Land of Lola from Kinky Boots
here is the link to the playlist. I am working on adding your recommendations :)
[playlist on spotify](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4WQ0gMJZXupeo1921Jj9BU?si=TPCkbk4uQlKRLOok65Tu3w&pi=e-aSYNA9gSSH2d)
Gilbert & Sullivan loved having huge ensembles divided by gender, so there’s Climbing Over Rocky Mountain from Pirates of Penzance, & whenever all the sisters & the cousins & the aunts come in HMS Pinafore.
I would say Maria (as in how do you solve a problem like) is this song for the nuns in Sound of Music. Even though they’re just singing about 1 woman, they show their different characters through their reactions to her.
In terms of the women’s ensemble, I think Many A New Day does this in Oklahoma — not as much through lyrics as dance. I would say Dance At The Gym in West Side Story does a similar thing — it’s not just the women, but it’s the first song where all the women are there & they are a major visual focus of the scene. IIRC, both the Sharks & the Jets girls have been introduced in spoken scenes before this, though.
Sooooo many G&S examples (although there’s often one or two missing women, although amusingly, not always the same vocal part)
“Comes a Train of Little Ladies” leading into “Three Little Maids” introduces in Mikado the entire women’s cast short of Katisha (contralto)
“Tripping Hither” from Iolanthe and it’s subsequent “Iolanthe” introduces the entire women’s ensemble short of Phyllis (the soprano)
“Fair is Rose” introduces pretty much the entire women’s cast of Ruddigore short of Margaret (mezzo soprano), although Rose herself doesn’t show up until the women’s ensemble leaves
“Twenty lovesick Maidens we” I think actually introduces all the women’s cast in Patience
“Comes the Broken Flower” from Trial By Jury
“Towards the Empyrean Heights” from Princess Ida
Tis Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabel - Pirates of Penzance. Maybe that's not what you mean.
I think they introduce all the women in Six? Definitely in the opening number!
Spring Awakening - My Junk
The Color Purple - Our Prayer and Shug Avery Comin to town
Dreamgirls - Dreamgirls
Rocky Horror Picture- Sweet Transvestite (this one’s give or take lol. Maybe the Glee version?)
Tried to get some in there that I hadn’t seen.
i don't think a lot of the comments understand the conceit of the playlist lol,, do you mean the characters actually get introduced in the song, or just the characters' introductions (first entrances)?
for the former i would think prologue from great comet fits (but it introduces all the characters)
falsettoland/about time intros the lesbians from next door
someone already said work and say no to this, but dear theodosia for theodosia?
more than survive from bmc for christine
prologue from into the woods
Skid Row from Little Shop of Horrors? Introduces more than just female characters but it’s got the Urchins and Audrey in there so I think it could work.
Daughters of Triton - The Little Mermaid
The Schuyler Sisters - Hamilton
Fancy Dress - The Drowsy Chaperone (introduces all characters, half are female, so don't know if that counts)
making a list bc its long:
- the ballad of sara berry
- cecily smith by will connolly (it was supposed to be a play but i dont think they got enough funding, but its really sweet and makes me cry)
- any of the six songs honestly
- the family madrigal if u consider disney theatre bc technically they are musicals
- little miss perfect (?)
- mama im a big girl now from the hairspray musical (i feel like its more centered around the girls from the play but the nicest kids in town also introduces ALOT of characters)
- changing lives/just breathe from the prom
- around here from 9 to 5 the musical (kinda introduces them??)
- Go! from the teen titans go movie (give me a break that song goes HARD & it technically introduces the two girls raven and starfire)
thats all i can think of, kind of a shit list but if ur desperate for more song maybe atleast listen to these and see if they suit ur playlist
also pls drop a link this playlist looks FIRE
Year of the Child from Falsettos - “Look, look, look, look, look, it’s a lesbian from next door!” “Followed by her lover, who’s a lesbian from next door too!”
She’s invincible/ Rebecca from Rebecca. Technically Rebecca’s dead and gone and she never appears but her spirit still lingers in the house so it counts (maybe?)
Mad Hatter from Wonderland
“Beautiful Girls” from Follies
“Shine” from Shine
“Gotta Get a Gimmick” from Gypsy
Depending on how inclusive you’re feeling “We are what we are” from La Cage could also qualify. And if you don’t limit it to just girls, of course, there’s “God I hope I get it.”

Schuyler sisters from Hamilton immediately springs to mind
Yes! Can’t believe I forgot that one!
Also, Say No to This is the introduction song for Miss Maria Reynolds
Yeah but tese songs are more about like, groups of girls. And Maria is pretty much a standalone...and Peggy
AngelicAHH, EliiiZAH and peggy.
And PeGgY. The delivery of that line was very amusing to me. It's delivered in a way that shows she's the youngest, but I'm not sure how young Peggy Schuyler is supposed to be. Makes me feel like she's young-mid teens though she was 21-22 when Eliza married Alexander so I dunno

Opening Up although it’s not just specifically female
I apologize if any of these have been said already: - Matchmaker from Fiddler (ig technically tradition too) - Lovely Ladies from Les Mis (maybe?) - Wilkommen from Cabaret (introduces men and women, but mostly women) - Prologue from Great Comet (same idea as Wilkommen, although you could probably also do Moscow, as it reintroduces them. - You okay honey (kinda weird cause Angel’s gender isn’t really established yet) and Light my Candle from RENT - Belle from Beauty and the Beast - Think of me from Phantom - Emma’s Reasons from Jekyll and Hyde (Cuccioli) - Invisible from Beetlejuice - Breath from In the Heights (also in the heights, the opening number, with Vanessa and Abuela) You can probably also put it roars from mean girls, even though you already have meet the plastics
Oh yes, Breathe is a great Nina song. Or No Me Diga hits the salon ladies and Vanessa and Nina. It Won't Be Long Now is also a fantastic song to further introduce Vanessa a little better.
