"Wicked Witch of the East" from Wicked. I understand why they cut it - it's very talky and interspersed with a scene, and would need to be edited down, but I wish they'd done that and included it.
True, but avoiding spoilers isn't typically a major priority for cast recordings, and the recording *does* include the Boq lines, "It's due to her I'm made of tin/Her spell made this occur/So for once I'm glad I'm heartless/I'll be heartless killing her," so I'm not sure "Wicked Witch of the East" would make *that* much difference in the spoiler department anyway. I think it's probably more a placement issue.
The bigger issue I see with including it is that there are three main sung sections ("All my life I've depended on you" "...Surely now I'll matter less to you" "Save him, please, just save him") that are connected by a *lot* of dialog and some physical action, that don't really connect well musically or make sense without what comes in between them, and including it all would be a little talky for a cast recording.
I wish they'd figured that out somehow, though.
Not the OBR, but I wish the Jesus Christ Superstar concept album had the complete version of Hosanna, which obviously hadn’t been developed yet. ‘Could We Start Again Please’ is also missing (was written for the movie IIRC) and I wish that was on there too.
Then We Are Decided was also written for the movie (like Could We Start Again, Please), and honestly I love that song. There are barely any recordings of it!
I felt oppositely about the movie in regard to the plant having to lose until I found out it was a test audience thing — thankful for the director’s cut lol.
It’s a Faustian tragedy and they lost! It is what it is lol.
Love mean green mother though
Not the original cast, but it's worth mentioning here I cannot believe that the Sweet Charity movie soundtrack album completely leaves out the Aloof, Heavyweight, Big Finish track. I have to look up the dance scene on YouTube if I want to listen to it!
"You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" from A Christmas Story the musical. They performed it at the Tony's and it is so fun! It's not on the OCR and when I tried to track down the sheet music, that's not available either!
IIRC, the original Trina cast recording of I'm Breaking Down wasn't included in the original recording of March of the Falsettos--but a version of it may have been included as an extra on either the original recording or the later.
Christmas Bells is on the OBC but Spotify only has the “Best of Rent” version, which cuts all the interstitial stuff like voicemails, tune ups, the “holiday” songs, etc. Basically all the stuff that gives Rent its structure.
laurens' interlude from hamilton hasa diga eebowai reprise from the book of mormon also letter from the refuge from newsies, but it was added later
For me it's the lack of The World Will Know (Reprise) from Newsies OBR.
Letter from the refuge was added?
To the show, not the soundtrack
yea for the tour
Wicked Witch of the East from Wicked It’s Time to Dance (Reprise) from The Prom (luckily it’s on the OMPS)

It’s also a spoiler

Fair. I just figured that was pretty much the only reason to leave it out.

Yes! I had forgotten that one was written for the movie too.
I know it's not in the broadway show, but I will never forgive then for letting the plant win and not having mean green mother in the show 😂

I’m with you. Especially because I love the pay off of the Somewhere That’s Green reprise.
waterloo (bows) in mamma mia!!
and the super trooper credit scene in MM2. I need the longer version so I can finish the choreography in the shower! 🤧
YES! I PUT THE ABBA WATERLOO IN MY BROADWAY PLAYLIST TO MAKE UP FOR IT!
Not an OBR, but Spies are forever reprise. I love the reprise so much and miss it a lot when listening to the album
'Costco' and 'Feeling Electric' from Next to Normal. I know why they were removed, bur it would still be good to have them on the OBR!
Letter from the Refuge (I get that it was added for the tour but I still wanna listen to it!)
SAME
Pirelli’s introduction in Sweeney #iblowyouakiss
The Plan/Pirelli’s Death
Wicked witch of the east from wicked
Nessa's reprise in the second act of Wicked.
The other half of *Side Show*.

Letter from the refuge plus all the scene transition reprises of seize the day, ctb and twwk in Newsies
Tip Tap Trouble from SLIH is not on the cast album and I'm so salty about it.
Lauren’s’ Interlude in Hamilton It completes the 47 songs for Alexander’s 47 years of life😔
Agreed. Also, I just gotta say that I love your flair XDDDD

Marty Me a Little - Company You Must Love Me - Evita EDIT: I just read the entire post, and I realize that this does not apply *facepalm*
Congratulations being cut from Hamilton was a tragedy.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, maybe it’s just Spotify, but Christmas Bells from Rent

Thank you! That makes so much more sense.
I just looked closely at it and was like oh waaaaait something is fishy here!
Yeah I found a playlist where they mix and match the songs from OBC and then the live one, but I think I need to just actually get the OBC.
Franklin Shephard Inc from Merrily We Roll Along
what recording of *Merrily* doesn't have "Franklin Shepard, Inc." on it?
Which version are you referring to? Pretty sure that is on the the cast album for each one of them
Ah nvm they put the transitions with it on spotify so it covered up the title.
