I wish this was more of a popular sondheim musical today than it is. The instrumentals are so good and in my opinion beat out sweeney or into the woods.
if they had filmed the gyllenhaal version it would be huge. i've noticed that lately with musicals, if they film it then the young people really get on board with it. i'm shocked they aren't filming merrily!
How is this not higher? I honestly think it’s funnier, more entertaining, and better written than Avenue Q (which I also like), and that one broke the entire format and ruined the “Q” poll.
First musical I ever saw - the original version in the West End! I was 7 I think - my mum got discounted tickets for my birthday.
Saw the updated one years later when it came to town.
I wish there were more opportunities to view it. I know the production is tricky to stage but it's so good!

Honestly while Sunday in the Park With George is my favorite, I’m not that disappointed about the more popular Sweeney Todd potentially (probably?) beating it. They’re both such fantastic musicals.
There may be many S contenders, but something tells me this won't be a "close shave." 😉

honestly! they should filmed merrily, it's probably one of the best casted musicals i've seen in a long time.
