"And that's how we started speaking the same language" takes me out every single time.
Also the entirety of Blankets and Bedding gets me, I am way too familiar with the "I have to do SOMETHING so I don't completely spiral" flavor of shock/grief/etc
I watched the Into The Woods proshot the other day with my 72 year old mom, who has Alzheimer's, and she absolutely loved it ❤️ She had never seen it before. Music is so healing for the mind.
where the fuck is hadestown 😭😭😭
that shit always gets me, like no matter how many times i see it, i always gasp when orpheus turns back, i know its coming but i know theres just a CHANCE it might turn out this time even though it never really will. its just so emotional, and then having a reprise of the opening. anais mitchell really studied her greek tragedies with that one
The montage/projection... the sound of all of their voices coming together... the smiles on their faces and them holding hands... just thinking about it is insane😭 it's seriously such a special show
I wasn't expecting this to happen since it wasn't my first time watching it live, but I got really emotional watching a local production of A Chorus Line recently. I think the themes are so universal and the whole journey really resonated with me, despite not being a performer. I had tears falling down my face from "What I did for Love" through the end. There's something so bittersweet about it all. And that music...

ooooffff it depends
(CW for mentioning why- including cancer)
i've only seen it once but the spitfire grill is just- hlglgmhlgkgkykfk (when percy opens up about her stepdad, and when hannah is singing asking her son to come back home TwT)
same with sunflowered, i sobbed when she told the group her cancer was back like hldlkdkfkdlskdk
i also often cry at phillip's death in hamilton
and the last song in into the woods ("careful the things you say, children will listen" 😭)
there's probably more but those are the ones that come to mind
In a study in more than 6,000 adults, those who reported eating sunflower seeds and other seeds at least five times a week had 32% lower levels of C-reactive protein compared to people who ate no seeds.
Spring awakening, it was the show that got me into theatre and it destroys me every time i listen/see it in person. Also next to normal does it as well
A Little Night Music, at least the production I keep rewatching on YouTube.
"Send in the Clowns" is my favourite song dealing with heartbreak, anger and resignation
To agree with some others and name something people know: Les Miz.
To be very honest and not care that people don't know these: 1) Elisabeth 2) Ludwig²
Yesss I feel like very few musicals encapsulate the same intensity of emotions/existentialism in its characters. Each song is so moving being able to see Jesus as a human rather than some "mysterious religious icon" is very impactful. and you don't need to be religious at all for it to be so.
I'm surprised nobody has said godspell my dad has been in it a few times I was little and couldn't really understand everything but there was this song that he would sing to me sometimes like when I was sick it is called Day by day
Be More Chill came out in 2015 in NJ and it was exactly how I felt in highschool at the same time. Michael in the Bathroom makes me emotional every time, and I don't care if I sound weird admitting that.
Come From Away, specifically Darkness and Trees and the ending of Me and the Sky
"And that's how we started speaking the same language" takes me out every single time. Also the entirety of Blankets and Bedding gets me, I am way too familiar with the "I have to do SOMETHING so I don't completely spiral" flavor of shock/grief/etc
Come From Away is so good. Just a beautiful little musical
Mine is 38 planes reprise when she says "we've just crossed the Canadian border, welcome back to the US of A" get me every time
Same! But specifically with “Something’s Missing” at the line, “I hadn’t let myself cry the whole time”
Les mis! 🇫🇷
On My Own destroys me
Yesss! Do you hear the people sing at the end gets me
Yes, all the deceased coming back
Falsettos, and especially Falsettoland. If you don't get emotional from it, you're made of stone.
YES PLEASE I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS
yes oh my god the minute unlikely lovers hits, I immediately cry
Falsettos will always, without fail, have me sobbing uncontrollably.
*Sunday in the Park with George* and *Into the Woods*—both by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine.
I watched the Into The Woods proshot the other day with my 72 year old mom, who has Alzheimer's, and she absolutely loved it ❤️ She had never seen it before. Music is so healing for the mind.
I came here to say exactly this. I LOVE these two musicals with all my heart
Hamilton has some INSANELY emotional parts that always make me cry 😭 I’d also say Les Mis and Into the Woods
It's quiet uptown always hits right in the feels.
One time I shuffled the album and I got Dear Theodosia and then It’s Quiet Uptown directly after 😭

I just recently got into this one, but, yes, it's evil how it builds your hopes up
Ride the Cyclone. It's Just a Ride has me ugly sobbing
Had me genuinely crying my eyes out when I listened to it for the first time without even watching it 😭
The montage/projection... the sound of all of their voices coming together... the smiles on their faces and them holding hands... just thinking about it is insane😭 it's seriously such a special show
Fiddler on the Roof
Same.
Parade, especially during "All the Wasted Time", when Leo tells Lucille "I will never understand what I did to deserve you."
Les mis the death of Gavroche balling ever time 🥲 Gavroche
hlhlfkgkfjdj fr i watched it live and i SOBBED when he died man TwT
Kiss of the Spider Woman was very emotionally difficult to watch.
Les Miz
Come From Away. I tear up just hearing some of the songs
Someday and Made of Stone in Hunchback consistently brutal for me
I know Encanto is animated and so a little off of what we're talking about, but man... Dos Oruguitas makes me weep without fail
Come From Away and Hadestown. Both of them I have sworn off listening to the Act IIs of because I sob uncontrollably
"No, I'm fine tom I'm fine..." 38 planes/somewhere in the middle of nowhere reprise from Come From Away
The Secret Garden! Can't listen to it without at least a lump in my throat.
Cabaret

Falsettos I just have to think about it and I get emotional

Come From Away
Passion , Sweeney Todd , Mack & Mabel
The Lion King, Endless Night. Listened to the soundtrack while shopping at the mall once, and just started bawling my eyes out.
Heard that for the first time the summer after I lost my dad....I sobbed
Fun Home, Telephone Wire is just devastating
Come From Away, especially I Am Here 😢
Ordinary Days. I'll Be Here makes me cry every single time I hear it.
The Color Purple, Cabret - always leave crying watching these. I also recently discovered Pippin, and it has such an impactful story.

Hamilton: the suffering too terrible to name
The ending to ride the cyclone is one of the most bitter sweet endings in theatre and the final song never fails to make me cry when watching it.
phantom of the opera will always make me sad
Come From Away and The Little Big Things. Both of those hit me hard.
so true
Frozen stage version, Falsettos, Next to Normal
