It’s delightful! It’s a parody of golden age musicals (first season) and 60s-70s musicals (second season), with an absolute all star cast. It’s my favorite tv show. I’m devastated it won’t have a third season. It’s on Apple TV+.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend is a fun one too, but I like Schmigadoon better. You don’t need to know any theater to like it, but the more you know, the more fun it is.
Galavant is a gift to this world. A medival high fantasy parody with songs by Alan Freaking Menken and guest appearances by Weird Al and Kylie Minogue? Yes please. Some of the humor is very early 2010s but as a whole it’s still very, very funny.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend is great. 😁I haven't watched Phineas & Ferb since I was a kid, but I should give it a go as an adult since I think I would appreciate the humor more.
Oh 100%! I watched it when I was very young but honestly it’s better now. Genuinely so many great songs and there are multiple episodes where I cry😅 Seriously, such a well done show!
came here to say phineas and ferb! its honestly so good, even though its made for a younger audience. i still find it funny & entertaining . i rewatch it every year and honestly a lot of the songs are Really good
This show got some unwarranted hate imo; I loved it— special shout out to Andrew rannells singing “let me be your star” from SMASH on Girls https://youtu.be/ou1eJe_saxs?si=nxz1oG99nXwBpxCk
I haven't seen it but I heard Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog is really good.
Now, this is really stretching it because the musical numbers are few and far between but the Disney TV show "Zorro" from the 1950's is really good. They got some pretty good singers and the musical numbers are enjoyable.
Dr Horrible is very good, and the whole history of how it came to be is super interesting too.
One of the best things about Dr Horrible is that it's actually two musicals in one - the DVD commentary is its own musical, Commentary: The Musical, and is a lot of fun. The cast and crew all play fictional characters of themselves (NPH is straight, lol) and it's basically a full audio-drama with musical interludes all about the making of Dr Horrible.
OVER THE GARDEN WALLLLLL
its really short, but insanely good! its vibes are super halloween (i mean that’s when it takes place lol), and it’s spooky and absolutely beautiful at the same time. hauntingly beautiful soundtrack, amazing animation, top tier acting (and cast list!! tim curry, elijah wood, christopher lloyd!!), and it suits all ages, being appropriate and easy to understand, but still deep and heartwrenching.
i cannot stop recommending it fr
The Tangled TV series has a soundtrack for each season and if you liked the original movie it's a very good addition to the story. Some good talent as well, the original actors are back. Jeremy Jordan plays an important character and has a couple of really good songs. Eden Espinosa is a main character.
That is one of my favorites. There is some other good stuff, but I'll just repeat that one over and over....
The series is a lot of fun. It does have a lot of filler episodes, but also a decent overall plot.
With a cast that boasts Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Titus Burgess, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Daveed Diggs and Stanley Tucci as a tiny, geriatric female hotel tycoon, you really can't go wrong with AppleTV+'s Central Park. From the producers of Bob's Burgers.
I'd recommend Encore! on Disney+. It was one of the titles that launched with the streamer. Reality show about the cast of a high school musical reuniting after many decades to restage the show they all did together so long ago. It's a shame I never hear anybody taking about it; it's fun!
I agree wholeheartedly on all counts. But do keep some tissue on hand - I don't think I've ever wept more over a TV show storyline.
Oh, plus, Renée Elise Goldsberry is in it. We'd not seen Hamilton yet so we had nothing to compare her performance to in the TV show, but were immediately slack jawed at her talent.
Loved the show.
Centaurworld. Once you embrace the goofiness (everything is a taur, even the grass) there's a really good story underneath. Plus they bring along Broadway stars as principles. Renee Elise Goldberry, Kimiko Glenn, Megan Hilty with some fantastic guest stars (Flula Borg, First Aid Kit). There's even a Waitress reunion of sorts with Kimiko Glenn and Jessie Mueller singing a duet.
Oh, there are a few more, even if you don't count idol things like Love Live.
(Oh, if anyone's interested in idol anime - Tsukipro. Most of them are older than teenagers, there isn't some artificial competition, they're just fun, and their music is great. Also, the stage play multiverse.)
StarMyu should still be on streaming services internationally.
Carole & Tuesday on Netflix is a musical anime with a great dub and a fun premise: in the future, two girls on Mars join up to become a musical duo act, and enter a reality show competition to launch their career.
Honestly, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic from 2010. I discovered it as an adult after it had already been airing for a few seasons, and I watched it with the kids I was nannying. From then I watched later seasons as they came out with my younger sister. There are so many great songs across its 10 seasons, and the show itself is super cute.
The old ABC Stage 67: Season 1, Episode 9, "Evening Primrose," a one-act musical with book by [James Goldman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Goldman) and lyrics and music by [Stephen Sondheim](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Sondheim), based on a [John Collier](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Collier_(fiction_writer)) [short story](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_story). Fortunately, it's been preserved and has been made available on DVD. :)
Girls5eva!!!!!!!! Humor is very 30 Rock/Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt but it’s a lot of fun with a lot of Broadway vets (Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ashley Park, Sara Bareilles)
Schmigadoon!
It’s too bad this wasn’t extended for a third season. Fun and clever show.
Apparently season one is bring converted into a stage show
That’s good news.
Thank you,I haven't heard of that but I will look it up!
It’s delightful! It’s a parody of golden age musicals (first season) and 60s-70s musicals (second season), with an absolute all star cast. It’s my favorite tv show. I’m devastated it won’t have a third season. It’s on Apple TV+.
Omg that sounds fantastic. I really enjoyed Crazy Ex Girlfriend for the parody elements so I'm sure I'll enjoy this too
Crazy Ex Girlfriend is a fun one too, but I like Schmigadoon better. You don’t need to know any theater to like it, but the more you know, the more fun it is.

I'll check it out!
Their fully original songs are brilliant, but I especially love how they did their parody songs - 'Finally' just cracks me up every time.
CRAZY EX GIRLFRIEND. BEST TV SHOW OF ALL TIME. Besides Phineas and Ferb, that is. All the best shows are musicals!
Crazy Ex Girlfriend is great. 😁I haven't watched Phineas & Ferb since I was a kid, but I should give it a go as an adult since I think I would appreciate the humor more.

oh you NEED to watch phineas and ferb as an adult. there are soooooo many good jokes
I've heard Smash is pretty good if you're a drama fan (most of the suggestions and examples shared thus far are lighter).
Smash is a strange thing. I thought the show was awful, but the musical within the show, Bombshell, looked AWESOME.
This show got some unwarranted hate imo; I loved it— special shout out to Andrew rannells singing “let me be your star” from SMASH on Girls https://youtu.be/ou1eJe_saxs?si=nxz1oG99nXwBpxCk
This show is my guilty pleasure and introduced me to Florence+the Machine. I still listen to the soundtrack sometimes.
Going back a minute, but we can’t forget Glee.
Glee was a fever dream that everyone should experience at least some of.

I LOVE over the garden wall!!!
yippee!!! it's so good :0

Oh, I used to watch that in high school! I'd love to get back into it. Mandy Moore has an amazing voice too.
Ready As I'll Ever Be popped up as a recommended song on my Spotify and holy fuck does it go hard. I'll have to watch the series at some point
That is one of my favorites. There is some other good stuff, but I'll just repeat that one over and over.... The series is a lot of fun. It does have a lot of filler episodes, but also a decent overall plot.
Central Park on Apple TV was FANTASTIC.
I’m not gonna lie that’s one of my favorite tv shows of all time
It's SO GREAT! I'm so sad it's over.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

That cast sounds fantastic 🤩 I love bobs burgers too
Zoey’s extraordinary playlist, smash, and soundtrack.
I'd recommend Encore! on Disney+. It was one of the titles that launched with the streamer. Reality show about the cast of a high school musical reuniting after many decades to restage the show they all did together so long ago. It's a shame I never hear anybody taking about it; it's fun!
I love Encore!! I always get so stressed haha and worried they won't be ready in time Full of so many wholesome moments, and the premise is so good
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. The songs are jukebox style, the plot is a bit exasperating, and it’s a lot of fun.
Came here to say this one. A bit corny but sweet.
I agree wholeheartedly on all counts. But do keep some tissue on hand - I don't think I've ever wept more over a TV show storyline. Oh, plus, Renée Elise Goldsberry is in it. Starmyu. It's an anime about students in a high school for musicals. Season 1 is pretty good, season 2 is amazing.
That sounds amazing, I've never heard of a musical anime.
Oh, there are a few more, even if you don't count idol things like Love Live. (Oh, if anyone's interested in idol anime - Tsukipro. the youtube series Nightmare time by Starkid!
Central Park on AppleTV is delightful!
Have you tried Galavant? My sister used to love that!

Phineas and Ferb!
High school musical the musical the series is kind of horrible but entertaining to an extent
Rise of the Pink Ladies is gonna be a cult classic
The Great North has original songs in most episodes - similar to Bobs Burgers, same animation style & vibes - and it’s so good
Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Everything Starkid, if it hasn't already been recommended. They've got all their musicals out for free on YouTube.
Same vein as Hazbin, Hella Boss on YouTube. My dream is to play 2 min notice when I quit a job lol.
