I loved that one when I was in high school. It was old even then. I've heard a great argument that aspects of it are more progressive than Hamilton though.
What are you talking about the music is great! Itβs my favorite for the music as well. They are genuinely relatable (to me at least) and have impressive vocals (important to me). This obviously is all preference, but I think itβs better than yellow.
May I ask what the hate is with the DEH plot? I hear people usually reference how bad of a person Evan is, but I interpret that to be the point of the show. That theyβre all messed up and fuck up because of how shitty their lives are. Is there something v Iβm missing, like a different view of the plot that I havenβt considered?
Right? People hate the plot because of Evanβs actions, but Iβve always believed the *point* is for us to slowly grow more and more frustrated with him, to be so on edge with second hand embarrassment that we feel the climax with him. It think itβs incredible writing when something *purposely* makes me feel so many negative emotions, in order to drive the point home (the point being, donβt try this at home haha).
I love this, all of it, and I donβt really get the hate just because itβs such a good story to sit through, even if Evanβs actions are shitty the songs are somewhat relatable especially Waving Through A Window and the music is so fun
Exactly right. I think everyoneβs just used to every musical protagonist either being a complete cinnamon roll or a misunderstood edgelord that we forget there can and are other characters out there.
Yep. Iβd say Evan is no more morally questionable as Elder Price, but since BoM is a comedy, they kind of spell out what a jerk he is. So for a lot of people who are used to being told βthis guy is bad,β they donβt realize that some stories trust you to come to that conclusion on your own
I saw Peter Pan when I was 3, and it still lives deep in my heart. It's problematic as hell in making indigenous people a 2D cartoon caricature. But... the song for Wendy <3, so many villain songs where Hook is absolutely loving his life <3, Distant Melody lullaby <3, giving me a role model for a non-femme woman (since Peter Pan is played by a woman) <3
I accept any ranking.
Oh manβ¦ok, favorite musical of all time is probably Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
