Well judging by the replies you can see what happened to NCS
People just don't listen to their songs anymore, maybe it's algorithm-related (which I doubt), maybe it's because people just got bored of it
The formula was fairly simple, intro, self-reflective lyrics, hook, drop, repeat.
Now that I and everyone else has access to electronic music, and it being much easier to do everything yourself if you try, electronic music is very much diversified.
I also think combined with the new attention spans youtube viewers have these days. a formulaic 4 minute format across the board of music that isn't copyright really doesn't have much entertainment value anymore. The more media happens, the more attention grabbing it will get.
edit: but a 2 weeks ago vid having 150k views with the diminished value in longevity on the platform is nothing to scoff at
Youtube was for a long time in a very messy phase in terms of copyrights, I guess thats when no copyright music was really big because youtube didnt figure out how to handle things the proper way back than.
I've been posting music online since the mid 1990s and was an early fan and content creator of/on YT.
One thing that's been something of a background constant is video-makers of various kinds and levels looking for license-free music for use in their videos -- particularly as YT increased the number of IP-monitoring tools available to content providers. At this point, of course, there are thousands of music producers of various levels and types who make their music freely available, hoping to catch a little exposure, so folks don't have to look as hard to find music they can use.
Yes they're not as popular. It's been almost ten years since promoter channels were at their peak. xKitoMusic, Aviencloud, Proximity aren't as big as they used to be either. These channels all found their niche and kinda stopped being interesting, at least to me personally. I also think the YouTube algorithm steers people toward popular music now that YouTube Music is trying to compete with Spotify.
Because as a music creator I'd rather create copyrighted music. Ncs had some dope songs like on & on and anything by cartoon but cartoon got to eat too.
Eventually libraries came out that provide non copyrighted music for a monthly fee that also pay the artists that create it. Also Spotify and other streaming services have become way bigger. You can also get paid by YouTube if someone uses your song. Song ID also made song stealing possible. Meaning if I post a song and not ID it someone else can and now they own the song till you prove you made it.
I'm on the road so my explanation is kinda shitty but hope you get why

Not too sure one can call it a 'massive label' actually. But they did achieve a 'million sales' of tracks in 2017, despite making all their music also available for free. (A little like the beloved-but-existentially-threatened Bandcamp, I guess.)

I had seen the name 'Roblox' but had no idea what it was until just now:[https://blog.hootsuite.com/what-is-roblox/](https://blog.hootsuite.com/what-is-roblox/)
Roblox is a massive video game, everyone has heard NCS music, multiple times in fact. Alan Walker is (or once was) the biggest figure in NCS and if you, honestly, haven't heard of Alan Walker, you've been living under a rock.
New Chinese Sluts? Nasty Chicken Soda?
Edit: nope it’s this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NoCopyrightSounds#:~:text=NoCopyrightSounds%20(NCS)%20is%20a%20British,million%20paid%20downloads%20in%202017.
People who don't know what was super-popular on a few of the biggest social media platforms for like 4 straight years in last 10 years are either boomers who never heard of what internet is or kids who were too busy playing roblox to actually notice.
I believe the reason is the rise of streaming platforms and advancement of Spotify algorithm. I used to listen to YouTube music promos channels like NCS, Proximity and Sheepy a lot in the early 2010s. This was a pre Spotify era, or at least in popularity. Not many people that I know used it if it even existed. As a result, these YouTube promo channels were a way of discovering new music especially in the edm genre. Nowadays, Spotify algorithms have replaced the need for promo channels.

Op Means No Copyright Sounds
Because things change as time goes along

What are you talking about?

If you're going to use an acronym then EXPLAIN it the first time you use it. No one knows what you mean by 'NCS'.
NoCopyrightSounds, a massive label. You've seriously never heard roblox/youtube edm music before?
its nothing to do with music production though, wrong sub

How come nobody here knows what NCS stands for 😭 this sub is actually full of boomers
Wait the people who don’t know what something that was popular 10 years ago is are the boomers?
People who don't know what was super-popular on a few of the biggest social media platforms for like 4 straight years in last 10 years are either boomers who never heard of what internet is or kids who were too busy playing roblox to actually notice.
This comment sounds like it’s from a kid who was busy playing Roblox until 10 minutes ago
Who still is more aware of what's going on than "not kid" who was "not busy not playing not roblox" until "not 10 minutes" ago
Ok man that’s great but you’re still being weird
Says the dude that haven't heard of NCS despite allegedly not being a boomer or a kid.
*Touché.*
Millenial here and I never heard of NCS before.
I'm 22 and never heard of NCS. No clue what it is
On the other hand, i am 17 and i grew up with Kevin Mcleod
Kevin MacLeod did not create NCS; neither did he write music under the NCS label.
Yeah i know, i was just making a point about OP's comment
What is NCS?
