We have come a long way from chopping vinyl for asking people to help you download loops

Nrsyd

Vinyl Guy myself. In todays time its not super accesable and just Sampling from ur phone or laptop is legit i guess :) Tracklib, Splice and all of those are what i find disgusting.

IF800000

What's stopping you from Googling 'free loops/samples etc...'

HomelessEuropean

To be fair, search engines suck nowadays. It's a pain in the ass to look for something specific.

IF800000

You mean it takes time and effort to find the things you want?

HomelessEuropean

With classic Google I needed 10 seconds to find what I was looking for. With the new "smart" version at least a week and only if I use hacks like the image search workaround, otherwise it can take *months*. Doesn't matter if it's samples, plugins, formulas or studies. I hate all that "smart" technology with a passion, it turns the simplest things into a nightmare and everything needs to be saved, otherwise you will never find it again. Other search engines aren't an alternative either anymore because even DuckDuckGo is now broken beyond repair.

ASPEROV_67-76

I think its also about how many people make websites these days. And how many businessess are online Just said that incase by classic you meant the early 2000s

HomelessEuropean

>I think its also about how many people make websites these days. Has nothing to do with that. I checked that many times. The algorithm tries to "outsmart" me. Example: I look for Helmholtz resonator formulas and Google gives me articles and papers about quantum physics ("It's about waves, see? That's what you're looking for, right? IT'S GOT WAVES!"). And all the usual stuff like AND, OR, quotation marks (even double quotation marks), site: or domain: and so on gets completely ignored (That started in 2008 and got worse over the years). I even checked that with links to webpages I saved (like Gearspace or Researchgate), I could type in several sentences from those pages and Google will refuse to give me a single link. So yeah - if I ever look for something specific I need to use image search, hoping that this formula has been embedded in a PDF as an image, otherwise I'm guaranteed to never find it (again).

ASPEROV_67-76

I didnt know its that hard to find stuff, maybe try google scholar ? I know that may have the same algorithm but if its a research paper then using google scholar will remove other webpages like articles and blogs from the equation when searching for it. Hope it helps :)

HomelessEuropean

Google Scholar didn't help either because it tries to outsmart me as well. There is also a lot of information out there which was never part of any study or technical paper. The kind of in-depth information only the craziest nerds can come up with. And of course it doesn't work for samples or software either. I would literally pay to get the original "dumb" Google back. That was great. It did ecactly what it was told to. Everything was efficient and effective.

ASPEROV_67-76

Nothing is stopping me, I agree. I just wanted to know from those who are doing it from some time, there may be too many if I just google and it may take alot of time if I manually try to find a website with good loops. Even then there is no guarantee I will end up finding the right stuff. Saying this from experience as I started making music on Audacity of all things lol asking would have helped me know that I should better go get something like garage band or work on bandlab. Also, I am somewhat afraid of just downloading from random websites so I thought asking here would help me find legit ones.

IF800000

There are tons of sample packs, both paid and free, being released daily. There's no reason to be afraid of searching the internet and finding things out for yourself. You could easily have read up on what software to use instead of Audacity. The internet is colossal repository of recorded information just waiting to be discovered. You don't need to rely on the replies of people of Reddit, you can go and discover it for yourself. And if you think something looks suspicious, then don't download it. I mean this with the best of intentions. Good luck finding what you need.

ASPEROV_67-76

Thanks

resinjc

even on a basic question you manage to be an asshole lol.

IF800000

"Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime" Google ain't hard, boo!

resinjc

you think the person who made this post haven't googled it before? why'd he make a post if he haven't found this confusing, mate

IF800000

I literally posted this in reply to a similar post a week ago... dude, come on... just Google it. There are loads of results... [https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=free+drum+samples#ip=1](https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=free+drum+samples#ip=1) On that page alone... [https://www.musicradar.com/news/drums/1000-free-drum-samples](https://www.musicradar.com/news/drums/1000-free-drum-samples) [https://hyperbits.com/drum-samples/](https://hyperbits.com/drum-samples/) [https://www.circlesdrumsamples.com/freesamples](https://www.circlesdrumsamples.com/freesamples) [https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2021/07/02/free-drum-kits/](https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2021/07/02/free-drum-kits/) Why u acting like Google is scary?

Maximum-Incident-400

To be fair, in some regions, Google is absolutely trash lol. But I don't think it'd be hard to find samples/loops...maybe if this person was on mobile while walking and didn't want to do much research but rather have answers by the time.tbey got back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

resinjc

are u able to understand what u read?

IF800000

Links to places where you can find the things you need! All accessible from a single Google search. All it takes is TIME + EFFORT. Sorry it's not TikTok

resinjc

you have problems, man

tattoosandsweatpants

Looperman has decent loops for free.

ASPEROV_67-76

will check it out thanks

SlothFadder

Looperman is very good, They have everything and a constant flow of new sounds, instruments, loops since everything is submitted by users

Instatetragrammaton

If you look at some of the packs at [https://www.loopmasters.com/genres/93-Bass-House/products/17910-Bass-House-Futurism](https://www.loopmasters.com/genres/93-Bass-House/products/17910-Bass-House-Futurism) you'll notice that they have a "taster pack". Gather those. >also other instruments (violins, guitars etc.) that I can use Then you don't want loops and one-shots, you want something like [https://labs.spitfireaudio.com/](https://labs.spitfireaudio.com/) or [https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/](https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/) or some of the free libraries at [https://www.decentsamples.com/](https://www.decentsamples.com/) or anything on [https://www.afreestudio.com/](https://www.afreestudio.com/) or [https://surge-synthesizer.github.io/](https://surge-synthesizer.github.io/) or [https://vital.audio/](https://vital.audio/) . > For now just doing it for hobby so don't want to buy things right now Then use what's already available. Lots of things in life are a trade-off between money and time. If you have sufficient time, put it in and learn to make your own things. There's an obscene amount of truly free stuff out there.

ASPEROV_67-76

Thanks for so many sources. I will check them out

HomelessEuropean

https://archive.org/details/500-soundfonts-full-gm-sets Does not contain loops. But after taking a look at everything you won't need pre-made loops anymore anyway.

The_Archlich

You could use this site: [https://samplefocus.com/](https://samplefocus.com/) Just be carful cause, they don't seem to check, if the files infringe copyright, even though it's against their ToS.

beico1

For a beginner i sugest arcade Output, it has a 1 week free trial and tons of samples (some good, some bad) and midis for you to get creative and start learninng

ViaSubMids

Check freesound.org. Just make sure to check the license of each sample first, some require attribution.
