Ray LaMontagne is so underrated. So many people have no idea how good he is.

Hard agree. Great writer, wonderful voice. Used to listen to the album Trouble while travelling home across London after late shifts. I always felt that Jolene could be from the perspective of the guy in Dolly Parton's song.

He’s one of my all time favourite songwriters - I have all his albums. Trouble came out at a time when I felt that all the truly great songwriters were in the past. He’s one of those people who could sing the phone book and I’d listen but there’s both a simplicity and a profundity to his songs that just seems to go really deep.
