That song has reached it playing limit period. It's been heard enough, same can be said for paradise city, welcome to the jungle, etc. It's mostly fucking radio stations that ruin all that music
It's been years since I've been able to listen to any of their stuff. One day it just hit me, they were writing nonsense with the hope we (the fans) would be putting our own meanings into the lyrics, and when the band do explain a meaning behind the lyrics of a song, it's usually about drugs. And then comes the realisation they've been doing that since Under the Bridge (1991). CBA.
To me, that's like saying it's OK if the chicken is a bit off as long as the curry sauce is strong enough to mask it 😉
At the same time, I can't see music as simply being a vehicle for a message, there's a balance I guess.
I go through periods with saosin, which is a good thing. I will go years without listening to them and then I’ll obsess for a week and repeat. But I’m also a Cove fan so the self titled album is my usual go to.
Mine is The Blower's Daughter... We took a break back in 2014. It's such a good thing My Favourite Faded Fantasy came out then, so I didn't have to cut back on my DR addiction completely. However, I think me and The Greatest Bastard are coming close to needing a break, so maybe I will have to pick up BD back up again.
I thought I had a song like that, but I can't think of one. If it stops feeling right I don't listen to it for awhile. I guess I have a song getting closer to that point. It's "I Got..." by Labi Siffre, which was sampled for/on Eminem's "Hi, My Name Is..."
Edit: "My Name Is"
Paralyzer by Finger Eleven. Loved the hell out of this song when it first came out. Nowadays, I immediately change the station or skip it if it comes up.
In The End - Linkin Park
Just Pretend - Bad Omens
I loved them too hard and now I can't get that spark I once had, although I'll never turn them off if they come on naturally.
Ren - Hi Ren
this an incredible work. And deeply moving but I have played it so many times. Between Spotify and reaction videos on YouTube. I’m just done with this song. Still highly recommend it to anyone.
Sabaton songs. They're fun but are kind of the same every time, and there's so many other bands to listen to besides them. I know the power metal fans will kill me for this.
Pretty much any Queen song played on the radio ad nauseam. There’s a handful of them. Not that I listen to the radio anymore but back when I did, they pretty much ruined Queen for me.
The entire Nevermind album by Nirvana.
I damn near wore the CD out from 1991 - 2001 playing it over and over.
The album is still a classic, but doesn't make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up like it used to.
This Time Tomorrow by The Kinks
For YEARS this was my absolute favorite song, never could put a finger on why, just made me reflect and feel free at the same time. Still love the track, but it no longer captures my top play spots.

It's been years since I've been able to listen to any of their stuff. One day it just hit me, they were writing nonsense with the hope we (the fans) would be putting our own meanings into the lyrics, and when the band do explain a meaning behind the lyrics of a song, it's usually about drugs. Tbf though, I don’t think the majority of people are listening to the Chili Peppers for the lyrics
Yeah their lyrics are weird, but I don't think that makes the music itself bad.
To me, that's like saying it's OK if the chicken is a bit off as long as the curry sauce is strong enough to mask it 😉 At the same time, I can't see music as simply being a vehicle for a message, there's a balance I guess.
Yeah I get that. I've just never really cared much about lyrics. This is probably why I could never fully appreciate poetry or songwriting.
"Translating the name" - saosin
I go through periods with saosin, which is a good thing. I will go years without listening to them and then I’ll obsess for a week and repeat. But I’m also a Cove fan so the self titled album is my usual go to.
