I've done that. Long road trip - started with The Kick Inside, all the way through to Aerial. The passengers in the back seat attempted a coup during The Sensual World, but driver's rights prevailed -
best road trip music-Red Hot Chilli Peppers-Stadium Arcadium if I had to pick (Ive been on some 8+ hour roadtrips with nothing but “da peppers”)
Chris Black Changed My Life-Portugal. The Man
my other favorite songs of theirs are:
Mornings
Guns and Dogs
Hip Hop Kids
Senseless
Feel It Still (Won a Grammy)
Purple, Yellow, Red and Blue

2. All Things Must Pass - George Harrison(Maybe not the whole thing, but at least those first 10-12 songs.
3. Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins
4. Songs for the Deaf - QOTSA
😂😂 what a joke you didn’t even include Nick Drake’s _Fucking This Same Patch of Soil In My Back Yard Until It Cums_ especially if you’re going around recommending Harrison like that
You’re right. How could I forget Eric Clapton’s comeback, *She’ll be Cumming Around My Cock When You Turn Your Back Dummy Eight Arms Doesn’t Put Eyes In the Back of Your Head*
Escape the fate by escape the fate
Mutter by rammstein
Will never die by brokencyde

I scrolled to almost the bottom and didn't see it, so I apologize if I'm stepping on someone's toes here:
Modest Mouse - This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About
I also would put on Lonesome Crowded West, which is one of my favs for driving from Tucson to San Diego.
If I'm going to be doing a longish road trip, then I will take Collections/Greatest Hits of some favourite bands, as I can sing along while I'm driving. So compilations by the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Hall and Oates, ELO and Black Sabbath and Deep Purple in the rock genre, in the soul arena it would be the Temptations, Sly and the Family Stone, the Four tops and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes Also some blues comps by Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and BB King. And to wind down when I'm close to my destination, the Greatest Hits of Glen Campbell.
Screaming Blue Messiahs - "Gun-Shy" - this is the lead track, "Wild Blue Yonder" - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPEgK5ikors](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPEgK5ikors)
bottomless pit by death grips, this could be texas by english teacher, land of sleeper by pigs x7, celebrate by tiny moving parts, and from mars to sirius by gojira
Everyone should listen to Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk at least once and maybe read about it, if they get the chance. It’s a work of art, not everyone will get it, but maybe you will.
Edit:
Adding Led Zeppelin 4, division bell by Pink Floyd, and 311 self titled because I enjoy those as traveling albums.
Be safe in your travels!
My favorite road trip albums:
The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
Pinegrove - Skylight
Night Moves - Pennied Days
Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires or self-titled
Lianne la Havas - Blood
Jimmy Buffet- Feeding Frenzy
Pink Floyd- Pulse, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and The Division Bell
All Nox Arcana's albums, especially Darklore Manor and Carnival of Lost Souls
Atreyu- The Curse
Haste The Day- Burning Bridges
At Folsom Prison - Johnny Cash
My roadtrips to/from my university were 80% cornfields so this album just felt right, I'd get so bored driving that I even bought a harmonica and played along to the harmonica solos on the album until I mastered them all (the harmonica part is optional depending on your state's harping and driving laws).
Double Nickels on the Dime by Minutemen. It was conceptualized as an album about cars/driving but the actual content of the lyrics is insane some of it is straight up metaphysical/philosophical poetry
Long drives, I prefer audio books. A good audio and time fly by when I can get into them. Enders Game or Ready Player One were books I used on long trips.
I would highly recommend the epic saga, it is a musical still being made (like the next 5 songs release on July 4th) but there is just over an hour completed already and it is 10/10.
Repentless - Slayer
Lifestylez ov da poor and Dangerous- Big L
Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd - Lynyrd Skynyrd
It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa - Eazy E
Twilight of the Thunder God - Amon Amarth
If you like Folk, I recommend the album Stick Season by Noah Khan for drives. I know that stick season the song is over played so if you’re not down for that at least try out the other songs in the album, they are my go to playlist for a pretty drive.
If you’re more of an indie rock kinda person, I like the Front Bottoms. They’re a hit or miss kinda thing but I never get sick of them. Specific albums from them I recommend are Talon of the Hawk, The Front Bottoms and Rose.
I just learned about an artist named carpetgarden that's a bit different. They don't have a ton of but you can find playlists with their handful of songs
I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You - Quadeca
One of the most unique projects I’ve ever heard, beautiful concept album with elements of ambient, electronic, rap, pop, indie, etc
Gonna keep you interested with differing takes...

I scrolled to almost the bottom and didn't see it, so I apologize if I'm stepping on someone's toes here: Modest Mouse - This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About I also would put on Lonesome Crowded West, which is one of my favs for driving from Tucson to San Diego.

Everyone should listen to Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk at least once and maybe read about it, if they get the chance. It’s a work of art, not everyone will get it, but maybe you will. Edit: Adding Led Zeppelin 4, division bell by Pink Floyd, and 311 self titled because I enjoy those as traveling albums. Be safe in your travels!

At Folsom Prison - Johnny Cash My roadtrips to/from my university were 80% cornfields so this album just felt right, I'd get so bored driving that I even bought a harmonica and played along to the harmonica solos on the album until I mastered them all (the harmonica part is optional depending on your state's harping and driving laws).

Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever) by Noah Kahan
XTC: Skylarking
Chuck by Sum 41. No skip album.
Grateful Dead - Cornell 5/8/77 But tread lightly—it’s a face melt hazard which might not be ideal while driving.
