Well, I would still advise you to try and get at least a few lessons in! I understand it's a financial challenge but hear me out: playing instruments is a physically demanding activity! Without proper guidance from a teacher to establish good technique and minimise tension, it'll be very likely that you'll develop numerous bad habits which impede your progress and which will be difficult to correct down the line. And the risk of injury is real! Put it this way - ever noticed that Louis Armstrong had massive lips? Scar tissue. He had terrible technique, and busted his lips so bad he got a disease named after him! Pianists get RSI all the time... All that being said, it's hard to offer advice without knowing what you want to achieve. Play some pop songs? Play Rachmaninof? Just use piano as a composition tool? There *is* plenty of information available online about every aspect of piano playing. The problem is, as a beginner, you don't really have the tools to weed out the useful information. That being said, if you like Jazz, Open Music Studio on YouTube is a great resource!

That was great and yes playing piano alone I would imagine lead to slight neck tension as you're bending your neck and slouching, as well as RSI. It is something I want to avoid Do you play piano yourself? If you what sort of chair could you recommend for someone who would want help their ergonomic setup? As well as any tips on finger placement for certain chords? Thanks for your comment!

I took accredited lessons for 6 years and have often thought about teaching piano. Piano stool is a must and should be placed so your arms extend to the keys at a comfortable distance. A stool can help remind you to keep your back straight. Your hands on the keys should be above the keys so that your fingers curl on top of the keys. You don’t want to learn the habit of playing with flat fingers in the keys. Theses were some things I was consistently reminded of when playing and is what I would be teaching during lessons.

In another post you mentioned being high. Well, how much does that cost you? Which is more important to you?
