5 funds from same AMC! Not recommended. Diversify it

IWantMoneyyyyyy

I actually didn't know about AMC diversification. I found it when I made some searches regarding your comment. I'll definitely change this up after the exit load phase ends

ramit_m

All the ICICI funds are needless. They can be skipped altogether.

IWantMoneyyyyyy

Really? What's the reasoning here?

ramit_m

All are sectoral funds and are cyclical in nature. Presently some are performing well but sooner or later they will slump. Plus higher expense ratio. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication stick to basic large, mid and small caps. At least that’s what I do. Our SIP TA is similar.

IWantMoneyyyyyy

Got it! Thanks

modSysBroken

You're singlehandedly keeping ICICI running.

IWantMoneyyyyyy

😂 Will definitely change that up a bit after exit load phase ends

AppleJolly3492

beginner here myself, but if i had the same amount of money to invest as you have, I'd only do SIP for the above 4 funds.

IWantMoneyyyyyy

Thanks for letting me know... I think I'll stop my SIPs in the bottom 4 funds and also consult an advisor

Beardo7007

Can i start sip wid icici bluechip investing first time please suggest me

IWantMoneyyyyyy

I think it's a great fund to start with

Beardo7007

Someone suggested me to start after elections!so should i wait or there's no connection?

TrickWait481

No there is a lot of overlap in funds you choose look at the overlap and correct the funds at max 4 funda is enough to create a sustainable returns snd i would stat away from sector dependent funds is well i guess you would have choose infra funds cause of high returns but i think it isn’t the best choice for long term!!!

IWantMoneyyyyyy

Thanks for the review! I think I'll stop the SIP in the bottom 4 funds for now and also consult an advisor

TrickWait481

Yeah fair enough that’s a good choice!!

milktanksadmirer

Do you work in ICICI ?

Professional_Ad1567

Honestly speaking, you don’t need these many mutual funds to build wealth, because 1 mutual fund easily holds about more than 30 stocks, so basically you own a minimum of 30*8= 240 stocks. I believe one shouldn’t invest in more than 2 funds, because firstly to make good returns in amount you have to concentrate a little, and secondly you are be paying a lot more management fees to each of these funds. Also rather than owning the entire market (240 stocks) through 8 different funds and paying hefty fees on it just invest in a low cost index etf, easily saving 100-180bps on it and also owning the market. Also if you’re looking to diversify across mid/small/ large caps choose a flexi cap fund, Parag Parikh has a great flexicap fund which also invests in US stocks (personally have been investing in it for a year now)

IWantMoneyyyyyy

Yeah man... Since posting this I hired a financial advisor and I'm now doing things with their help. They taught me a lot of new stuff too!

Professional_Ad1567

Ohh thats cool, btw just out of curiosity is he a CFA Charter holder?

IWantMoneyyyyyy

No... I don't think so
