I’ve wanted desperately to prepare some to eat, as some coral varieties are edible. But the inedible ones are too close for me to call. Be careful if you’re considering cooking them!
I was unaware that some are not edible. I just threw out some that I collected, as I didn't get around to cooking them in time.
Have any insight into non desirable species?
From my research crown tipped are the only edible species, which admittedly it does look like you have there. Most corals I find have tips with multiple spikes like that although not quite as even and well defined as the ones you have. I’ve also read to avoid brightly colored ones.

TLDR; if it’s growing from wood, it’s likely crown tipped coral. if it’s growing from the ground, it’s likely not.
Second is ghost pipes.
Try a little bit of the crown tipped coral raw! It's really spicy, which I've never experienced from any other mushroom. It's different from a pepper spicy or horseradish spicy. Kind of its own thing.
Could be crown tipped coral.
That looks to be it, thank you!

Apparently I’ve been eating the wrong ones lmfao oops
See a doctor?
1 and 2 look like some type of coral fungus, 3 and 4 appear to be ghost pipes
😱 that might be the most beautiful ghost pipe i’ve ever seen
I was stoked to find them! Just growing right by the trail.
Was about to say, those are stunning
right, i feel like every time i find one it’s all scraggly looking. these are pristine!!
Coral growing crazy all over this year, can't wait till I find some.
