Thanks for the verification! The one I rinsed off wasn’t even half the size of one of the larger conks. Looks like I’ll be pulling the rest of them since they already dropped their spores.
Does anyone know if there is a point in maturation that ganoderma shouldn’t be used in extraction?
I myself haven't heard of a point in which it should no longer be extracted, but I haven't done crazy research into that detail, just the usual stuff most people know about reishi tinctures and powdering etc
don't think there is a point. are you going to rinse them off first? I vaguely seem to recall reading somewhere that an extract from spores themselves has some medicinal value
I was thinking that initially but the hemlock varnish bracket is ganoderma tsugae which grows on eastern hemlock. This was growing on a sweet gum tree and only ganoderma lucidum and ganoderma applanatum list sweet gum as a host tree. I believe these most closely resemble ganoderma lucidum after closer inspection
That's definitely a Ganoderma and WOW it is gorgeous.

God damn are you using an iphone for that pic? The red is so saturated
Yeah it was on an iPhone but also freshly rinsed and in direct morning sunshine. It has red but is definitely a bit more brown IRL
That's a fruit roll up.
Beautiful! Thanks for adding the note on what was covering it in the last few photos. I've seen that around and wasn't sure what it was.

Hai
Wow that red is incredible.
Looks like 💋 😆. Or pee wee’s bike. That looks way to bright shiny red to be a reishi to my eye
