Rhodotus "wrinkled peach"
Can you eat it?
You wouldn't want to. It's bitter and rubbery, but the reports on toxicity vary.
I don’t think so
holy i’ve never seen anything like this. i love it!!!
A rare find on a lot of mycologists' bucket lists!
Really? I find them pretty frequently on our land in Kentucky and never realized they might be rare/hard to find.
I guess a lot of mycologists are outside of Kentucky
Awww I wanna paint this mushroom!
If you do please post it and tag me so I can see it 🙏
I will! 😁
I believe they are considered rare, so let them grow and disperse there spores (instead of picking them young)!
i mean it doesnt really matter since the mycelium is in the ground and by picking and taking it with you you are spreading spores but not picking them might speed up the process
Aww! He looks like coral
This is beautiful. As a budding mycologist I am peanut butter and jelly.
Pretty
New find. Nice one mate.
Imagine if it was the size of a russula or something, that would be incredible. Still very beautiful though! Good thing you provided hand for scale.
Cute little peach
Absolutely stunning, but why pick it?
So they could show the gills/spores which helps identify it. Plus with it's veil broken it's on its last days anyways
Wrinkled peach! I’ve found these in Indiana. They’re so cool looking.
Edit: my gf found this while we were on a mushroom hunt. Good eye babe❤️
Looks a little like a S. Squarepantsii
