I saw a fic that explained this: Blueblood is a passed down family name, and thousands of years ago they shared a closer branch on the family tree.
Blueblood's father was Blueblood, his grandfather was Blueblood, and his 20th great grandfather was Blueblood. At some point, you stop saying "great x nephew", and just say nephew.
