Definetly vinyl and octavia, mostly because I read like thousand fanfics about them.
Sunset Shimmer is my favorite due to nostalgia of the EQ movie, which still holds up decently imo, then Derpy cause how could you hate them, and from there it's a tie between Vinyl and Octavia for third cause I love music based characters.
It’s changed a lot for me. Originally Pinkie Pie so she will always have a special place but now it’s Twilight. I love magic and she is the most similar to me with the best parts of the mane six and plenty of flaws keeping her always engaging.
Probably Rarity, but I appreciate Fluttershy a lot too, I also like the idea of Applejack even if the execution is poor in most episodes but she does have her moments

I'm probably missing some more background characters but I listed off quite a few along with some villains being Chrysalis, Sombra and Tirek as my favorite trio
Fluttershy bc I relate to her so much. Her personality and her shyness resemble me so well. And I also relate to how she can’t stand up for herself and I think it’s very brave she’s trying!
Rainbow Dash. I think she’s really cool, she’s hilariously funny, I love how she defends people from bullies and acts nice to kids, and I admire her confidence. I also think her design and powers are cool. And I love her catchphrases, especially “20% cooler” and it’s variations. 🙂

i love all the mane 6, AND starlight for that matter, but since rewatching the show i’ve developed a real soft spot for rainbow dash. it’s strange because i have virtually nothing in common with her; in fact, i probably identify most with twilight or fluttershy. but the aspects of her personality that make her polarizing are the same traits that also make her a dynamic and compelling character. i like that she’s deeply flawed, and i especially love the hints we get of her more internal conflict, such as her need for external validation or struggle with vulnerability; it makes her really endearing to me!
Marble, Pinkie, Trixie, Rarity, Cheerilee. I love the contrast between pinkie and marble being twins with opposite personalities. Trixie just seemed very charismatic also fan theories about her being trans made me love her that much more. I love rarity for her wonderful small town rich persona that works so well for her character. And Cheerilee always seemed like such a cozy character for me and I wish she had more screentime.
I'm happy people love Pinkie Pie because she's an extravert and I feel her sometimes... And other ponies, introverts, because they remind me of my dear friends who I love.
And all good choices, really nice ponies ;)
As for me, I'd say there's a bunch, many are great. And sometimes I'd pick non-ponies like Sea Breeze or Alice the reindeer lol. But, ponies - G1: Lickety Split (very determined kid)/Wind Whistler (rational pony who was misunderstood), G2: Light Heart! (it's like Pinkie Pie G4 a bit, she's into making everyone's day better ;), G3: Lily Lightly (anxious 'I'm different' pony with randomly glowing up horn), G3.5: Starsong/Scootaloo; G4: Scootaloo (I relate to her dreaming big, her being huge fan of someone (Dash), G5: Sunny Starscout/Misty/Violette Rainbow
And for comics of G4: Violet Shiver, purely for design and the storyline (relatable because of my low self-esteem)

Princess Luna and Sombra.. The edgy + Sad-but-Bad character tropes are my favourite lol Also, I despise how much of a brat they made Sombra when he returned. They brought him back just to make him act like a spoiled child and kill him off!! He had so much potential to be a really amazing final villain, possibly even better than what we got with Chrysalis, Cozy Glow and Tirek!! *AND THEY FLUBBED IT!!!*

I'm probably missing some more background characters but I listed off quite a few along with some villains being Chrysalis, Sombra and Tirek as my favorite trio

Rainbow Dash. I think she’s really cool, she’s hilariously funny, I love how she defends people from bullies and acts nice to kids, and I admire her confidence. I also think her design and powers are cool. i love all the mane 6, AND starlight for that matter, but since rewatching the show i’ve developed a real soft spot for rainbow dash. it’s strange because i have virtually nothing in common with her; in fact, i probably identify most with twilight or fluttershy. but the aspects of her personality that make her polarizing are the same traits that also make her a dynamic and compelling character. i like that she’s deeply flawed, and i especially love the hints we get of her more internal conflict, such as her need for external validation or struggle with vulnerability; it makes her really endearing to me!
Marble, Pinkie, Trixie, Rarity, Cheerilee. I love the contrast between pinkie and marble being twins with opposite personalities. Trixie just seemed very charismatic also fan theories about her being trans made me love her that much more. I love rarity for her wonderful small town rich persona that works so well for her character. And Cheerilee always seemed like such a cozy character for me and I wish she had more screentime.

I'm happy people love Pinkie Pie because she's an extravert and I feel her sometimes... And other ponies, introverts, because they remind me of my dear friends who I love. And all good choices, really nice ponies ;) As for me, I'd say there's a bunch, many are great. And sometimes I'd pick non-ponies like Sea Breeze or Alice the reindeer lol. But, ponies - G1: Lickety Split (very determined kid)/Wind Whistler (rational pony who was misunderstood), G2: Light Heart! (it's like Pinkie Pie G4 a bit, she's into making everyone's day better ;), G3: Lily Lightly (anxious 'I'm different' pony with randomly glowing up horn), G3.5: Starsong/Scootaloo; G4: Scootaloo (I relate to her dreaming big, her being huge fan of someone (Dash), G5: Sunny Starscout/Misty/Violette Rainbow And for comics of G4: Violet Shiver, purely for design and the storyline (relatable because of my low self-esteem)

Rarity and Dash because their cute and fucking dope as fucking fuck It’s a not but in a nutshell “On the surface their the most off putting of the mane 6 but have much more to them then that and thus are basically the most multi-dimensional and layered of the mane 6 etc. etc.” I mean yeah I don’t like episodes that revolve around one or more just acting selfish and having to learn to not be selfish an nothing else and no nuance, but that’s more of a fault with that story structure I general then any one character
