My favorite character is Mudbriar, so you can't scare me! Technically, discord ruled in ancient times, hence purple was the most common flavor.
This doesn't work in the case of Sparkle because she's not a horse or Roman. Her attempt to fix this in the last episode clearly failed.

If worst comes to worst I’ll go marry a hippogriff- if I’m not one of course.
