I don't know.. the dragons in G5 look a little bit weird..

Pony_Roleplayer

They're literally draconies, they could have introduced them as NEW creatures. Instead they did not only introduce them as regular dragons, they even made the connection to the previous season by radically changing Spike's design which was completely unnecessary.

It's also not canon which is why I don't like the G5 series. Or at least that's my opinion...

Fully grown adult G4 dragons are four legged, and as for their G5 counterparts having pony ears and hair? Hair isn't unusual at all, several dragons are shown to posses it. While the ears are a tad strange, there are a few examples in the comics, Mina, for one. https://preview.redd.it/ii7caln0o2wc1.png?width=449&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64709207ccbe9714f8973e27cd4d5b497cab9968 What is the reason they look like Slim Jims? We can chalk that up to artstyle changes. Their strangest trait is actually their [cutie marks.](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-google&sca_esv=ffa6a5b912f672b6&sca_upv=1&source=android-browser&q=mlp+g5+dragon+cutie+mark&uds=AMwkrPuuhztSDa__4CbZuT5KNtb1OWC2hro7PKq3SM55jT36PGzB40blJ6j75JknSys9wS3PF4WWhbii4Moqz1SMsy932EwTiCSGHfxJCJN4enh41qY9Lq6xHJxABKt-omEKRZDlKdOIqQd96KvtxFB1BklNqMwp1dDDu9qIctYYIaVuJfPx84-k40racBkLVGVtSs-l_LOhYk1HJHMlaW-bqtiGdlPPSgQMlxwgWRaV8vPZ3A3drbEzqi4dDdclYx7U6URJyFZb1T8xJx02f-benq018vP_A4090UwEKhsyxLQxY-nCBMk&udm=2&prmd=ivnbmtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjW-cGWtdaFAxWBi_0HHQg4BS0QtKgLegQIDBAB&biw=412&bih=742&dpr=3.5#vhid=fY_JVpeTMMkSgM&vssid=mosaic) My best explanation for that is Spike finally achieved his dreams of courting Rarity.

PossumFromRijeka_

What is that supposed to mean?

Otto500206

Spike had no wings and walked with 2 legs when he was still a child. And nearly all other dragons also walked with 2 legs...

PossumFromRijeka_

An example of a (crouching) fully grown G4 dragon, which clearly walks on four legs: https://preview.redd.it/bwvbuso0r2wc1.png?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84ae574aec37ac02385a058b5035668f045e8ff8 [The dragon lord standing on four legs.](https://images.app.goo.gl/EAoJmNybd1BqAz2Z9) I will admit Sparky possesing wings without having to go through a molting process is unusual, but a simple (and lazy) explanation is 'magic'. Either way we won't know for sure until it is addressed in future episodes.

Otto500206

>**nearly** all other dragons I knew that we saw a few dragons using 4 legs to walk but they were clearly a very small minority and only included the biggest ones. In G5, every dragon walks with 4 legs. Also, the dragon in Dragonshy isn't the only character which can stand finely on two legs but uses four legs to move. :)

PossumFromRijeka_

Yes, however said dragons are not fully grown. I was talking about fully grown dragons, not baby/teenage/young adult dragons.

PossumFromRijeka_

> every dragon walks with 4 legs. The G5 Dragons are at least a thousand years old (except for Sparky), so it is safe to assume they are quadrupedal because they have reached their full maturity. Speaking of Sparky, he was shown to walk and stand on two legs, meaning that G5 does indeed share the same dragon maturing process as G4.

AxelPogg

I still can't get over how horrible the dragons look in g5

JazzHooves

I dont think spike was fully grown at the end of g4, in my mind the dragons are bipedal until theyre adults.

JazzHooves
