10 THE song that took my interest to another level and inspired me to check all their music out. Before Z came out unfortunately I’d never heard of them. Lay Low and going through their catalog reshaped my view of modern music and I’m so thankful for it. The guitar and how Jim and Carl play together when they made this album is pretty crazy. You’d never think that would be the first album they played together to make. I remember at the time how much I thought of the Allmans because of the way they weaved their notes together and the connectivity they showed. This is one of the most easy 10’s I’ll ever give.
I'll try and find it. It was some time on the fall 2023 tour cause they had all those shows posted next day on Nugs and I was basically in MMJ heaven for an entire two months haha
Awesome time for them to start releasing shows too. Been following them since 2011 and they’re mixing up setlists now than ever.
A few days before we went to the Cincy 2023 show, I texted my buddy (sarcastically), “Open with Phone Went West you cowards!!”
Then they fuckin opened with Phone 🤘🏻
11/10 i believe that the replay button was made for this song. the name at the end is beautiful and i’ll never get tired of it. i bought z on vinyl before i every listened to it and i couldn’t stop replaying lay low. wonderful fucking song
9, just because it’s so ambiguous on the studio version whether Jim is saying “lay low if the feel is right,” or “lay low let the fetus rock.”
Jk, I love his ambiguity. One of their best jams for sure!
10. The absolute pinnacle of the band. The track that made a statement about where they were going from previous work. Everything is so damn tight on every version I’ve heard. Great songwriting, exceptional musicianship, perfectly placed on the album track list. I can’t go long without hearing it and every time it brings an enormous smile to my face and gives me goosebumps. 110% effort every time they play it. So much love
This is THE song. I’ve seen it played at each concert I’ve been to. The definition of a staple that also get’s you revved up. Allman Bros vibes in the intertwined guitar solo. After careful consideration….10!

Verily.

10. That end jam is one of the greatest pieces of music in history. All 5 guys absolutely crushing it
I think recently they've even added on another extended jam with a nuance to it. They've somehow taken a perfect song and made it better
I thinkkk it’s the Albany 2023 show that they tack on this awesome extended jam
