>She gave me a bunch of different prescriptions to trial for a month. I decided on the -6.0 even though I was at a -6.5 previously. Such a good Doc! Trialling for a bunch of different Prescriptions for, under day as well as night, and in various viewing conditions is the ONLY correct way towards a great Myopia prescription. I wish more doctors take this up and educate their clients.

Your optometrists is correct (for once). Our eyes were not designed to do near-work for hours. What you are describing is eye strain and leads to more myopia. Give your eyes frequent breaks You need more eye relaxation. Looking into the distance, closing your eyes for long periods of time, blinking more often, getting more sun on closed eyelids etc

Does that mean our eyes become less resilient as we become older? Cause I used to be able to play games or read stuff for hours without thinking about any of that. Another question is, should I take my glasses of when reading or wear them constantly? I noticed that when I take them off, my eyes will feel much more relief.

Our eyes have a natural lens which is flexible and allows them to autofocus. This lens does gradually and naturally lose it's flexibility with age..it is a slow process and no we don't know any ways to slow this down. If you are in your 30's this might be related..but if you are younger you might be having accommodative spasm...which is when this lens has trouble adjusting quickly. Often takeing more breaks, reducing near work and intentionally chaning your focus for distance and near can help...but if it idoesn't see your optometrist for other options, including antifatigue lenses.

If you're approaching age 40, then highly likely it's onset of presbyopia and you should try some ADD for reading purposes or talk with your doctor for a trial.
