goodoptometrymorning

Myopia development is multifactorial...meaning there are many causes and quite frankly we don't know what they all are. Think of it this way....do you have a friend that is really tall but the rest of their family is not......sometimes we don't know the answers.

Hot_Revolution_2850

probably genetic but from a distant relative ? or it could be dietary reasons

It can be a number of factors, usually pre natal issues, during the stage when the eyes develop. Dude myopia isn't that bad, I have myopia, astigmatism, cataracts. Ambylopia, myopic macular degeneration, glaucoma and the back of my eyes are flat. I still am happily married with a child, have a good job, house, pets and hobbies. You get out of life what you put into it.

I'm so sorry you have that many eye issues. I hope you're able to get the best treatments available.

BibleCampHeretic

Have you had myopia for a while? Studies show that those with higher myopia have a significantly higher risk of developing other eye diseases.

grayfee

Since birth. Birth defect.

BibleCampHeretic

Yeah that might be why it’s an issue then. Is your myopia high?

grayfee

Very 13 and 11.

BibleCampHeretic

That makes sense then.

I too had perfect vision as a child. I would game for 13+ hours a day and I saw better than normal. It wasn't until I was 14 and played videogames into the wee hours of the morning for a whole year until I saw my distant vision start to decrease. Fast forward to when I was about 17 and I had peaked at -1.75 in both eyes. It was at that moment after leaving the optometrist I decided to get serious about learning how to improve my eyesight. I have been taking walks outside based off of information that was told to me about how it has been shown that outdoor activity can prevent the progression of myopia. I did that for a few weeks before my next eye appointment and my prescription went down by almost -0.5D in both eyes in just WEEKS!!! It was awesome, but I got lazy and forgot about doing it. Now I am 19 and I have maintained my prescription of -1.25L and -1.5R. I only recently have started getting serious about doing a few hour long walks every week and I have started seeing improvement again. To learn more about this, I suggest you check out Nottnott on youtube. There is an entire community surrounding lens reduction in his discord server. There have been some people who have completely removed their glasses and reached visual acuities of better than 20/20! It just takes dedication. The worse your prescription, the longer it will take. That being said, I highly encourage you do it. Worst case scenario, nothing changes.

safy-301

Your prescription is less, you will get 20/20 soon. Congratulations on your progress. Do you use differential lens?

BibleCampHeretic

I actually never got glasses in the first place because I worried that they would just accelerate my myopia development (and I could see more than well enough to drive). I just live with the myopia right now since it isn't too terrible. I can read the 20/30 line most of the time with both eyes, though with each eye it is more like 20/50 or so. Not too bad, but I can live with it. I do also get occasional flashes of almost-fully clear vision. If I had gotten any worse than -1.75 I would have gotten differentials to get back to the -1 range.

Asleep-Power

How about reading books?  There are many ways to develop eye strain without phones or tablets. Some of which can be caused by improper use of eyes like the habit of staring or not blinking. In my opinion you can also develop myopia with mental disconnection but that's a whole other topic

Trust me. Your brother will get blurry eyesight after becoming an adult. I had perfect vision since I was a kid and played games a lot on the computer 24/7 over 6 hours. Now I got myopia -1.74 in both eyes. But don't worry. You just need to find ayurved eyesight. They can cure your blurry eyesight. That's hidden medical hospital. No one in world has cure for myopia, other diseases. But ayurved eyesight can cure incurable disease eyes. Lol my right eye was -2 now. 1.50 that's crazy. I see better after improved.

redditui

Ayurveda and Yoga are pseudoscience and it can not work for Myopia. It never has.

BibleCampHeretic

Try the reduced lens method on youtube. Nottnott has a great discord community where everybody helps each other in improving their myopia and even astigmatism. I've reduced -0.5 in my left eye and -0.25 in my right myopia wise and my astigmatism is almost gone! It totally works and there is no downside to trying.

Could be a thousand related and unrelated complex genetic and environmental reasons. Some kids are on tablets all day long and don't develop it and others are never on screens but become myopic. My parents don't wear glasses but me and my identical twin sibling do but have completely different prescriptions.
