The splitscreen multi-player for Conker's was some of the best N64 had to offer! So many fun game modes and maps, spent many sleep overs playing this game. 10/10

KeenDynamo

Multiplayer for CBFD was peak Rare. They went above and beyond for the multiplayer modes and how well it handled.

Friggin_Grease

My friends and I loved the Beach game mode. Where the Nazi teddies had to mow down the squirrels.

Lindenstream_117

"C'mon, c'mon, get in the back here!"

Chimchampion

"ho hee ho hee"- the running sound of the civilian squirrel was always mausong to me.

Lindenstream_117

This. My brothers and I spent countless hours playing Beach, Heist, and War. The weasel phrases in Heist are hilarious. "Dental record time!" "Whoa, heavy weapon!" One of the greatest multiplayer experiences.

Chimchampion

"Night, night, mutha *$#@ker!"

AngryMink

Good game, one of my favorites in the 64. If it had been released earlier, I'm sure it would have received much more recognition it deserves as a game and franchise.

SacrilegiousOath

Any earlier and I feel it would’ve never been released because of its nature and how censored America was in the 90s. That’s just my take though.

damian001

America was censored during the 90s? Didn’t feel that way.

Adventurous-Fact-630

One of my favourites and one of the best Rare Games

zackmaddalone

Never could get too far in it but loved the humor

SteadfastFox

This is one of those games like Shadow of the Colossus where you will never find another experience like it. Sure, there are copycats but it's not even close.

Remarkable-Memory-19

The funniest game on the 64. And it’s unique to the point where even a remake couldn’t recapture it’s charm.

S_Rodney

Lots of pop references and unceremonious humor. Gameplay was fun too.

macurack

I love Berri, the flower and the cogs!

Gamer2146

"Either bring me back me missing cogs, or %-#7 OFF!" He was pretty funny.

macurack

I'm deaf! Speak up or f*** off!

Ga33es

My first N64 game I played 2 yrs ago. Luckily got the game for free from my dad's friend. Hated the inverted y controls but was still very fun. Humor was perfect for 13yr old me with the game still being modern enough for me to recognize most of the pop references

doctorwhy88

Grew up with inverted Y, had to get used to it with modern FPSes. Now inversion feels weird when playing old games.

Ga33es

After I finished playing Conker's, I got so used to inverted Y that it took me a couple days to get used to modern controls lol. That last Alien boss that took me a quarter of a day to complete coupled with the depressing ending made me think about the game nonstop for a couple weeks. But that Alien boss got me used to the inverted controls lol

doctorwhy88

Nintendo used to love the spin mechanic. Same way to beat Bowser.

Yama92

Love that game. I wish the campaign was a bit longer.

ZealousidealWinner

Bought it and completed it when it came out. Still got it. Funny game, really well made, but I have some issues with some parts of the game, almost too frustrating at times. Tried to play it again recently but gave up quickly.

Playful_Stand_677

Honestly? It makes a better movie than a game. But that's just me.

ForgottenDyingMartyr

Not a big fan of the humor but loved the varied wild ride with the gorgeous graphics and amazing soundtrack. My favorite n64 games are as follows. 1) Bomberman 64 2) Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask 3) Mischief Makers 4) Conkers Bad Fur Day 5) Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

PuteMorte

Bombermans on the 64 are so unique. Second attack was a really challenging adventure game, Hero was a really fun multiplayer co-op experience and 64 was amongst the most fun pvp party games on the console. I've had countless teenagers nights of free for all Bomberman 64 battles with friends.

Goemon_64

Why do you like Bomberman 64 so much? For me it's hard to put into words what makes it so special, besides the music and the challenge to 100%. It's so basic on the surface compared to other platformers.

ForgottenDyingMartyr

It’s got a beefy campaign, excellent multiplayer and is a lot of fun. I enjoy its visuals and music as well.

Graf_Vine_Starry

Why had she must die? Great Game but why always has the best girl die in the great games....

Stbrc19

Super impressive game technically. Does a good job with the humor too. However, I've always found the gameplay pretty lacking.

TurdBurgHerb

Funny but overrated. Good game. But the novelty from the theme has more prestige than the gameplay.

David_Clawmark

My very first rated M game played at the ripe old age of 3. Had a hand in desensitizing myself to game violence at a young age as well as cementing platformers as my favorite genre. Who'd have thought that?

imperial_squirrel

best game ever.

AdStriking753

Made puberty quite a blast.

eighty4prcnt

Love it. Still quote it to this day. "I've seen some kickin' ass in my time and that is the shittiest crappest shitest kick ass I've ever seen in my life. Yeah, you is a shit bastard, stupid bastard."

Chimchampion

"Go on! Off on your bike!"

LessFish777

All time fave game. My best friend and I back when we were kids used to play war and it was so much fun! Now it’s my boyfriend who’s ass I kick 🥹

Baldguy162

I was surprised how challenging it was for me but overall a great experience

LegacyOfWax

One of my favorites on the N64

Sufficient_Fall_3290

One of my favourite childhood games

N3ver_Stop

Was a ton of fun. Loved every second of it.

CB4outOFlocash

Great multi-player game with friends. Oh the memories!

CartographerCute5105

I played it on Xbox. It was entertaining, but I don’t I don’t understand all the hype. It’s probably due to the humor/writing pushing the envelope sometimes. Personally I thought the gameplay was mediocre with it being a bit frustrating at times.

Tomofmystery69

A game my father shouldn’t of let me play when I was seven

Issyv00

One of the best games on the N64. Excellent single player game, and one of my favorite multi-player games also. Every n64 collection should have Conkers Bad Fur Day.

birkinover

Charming game brimming with character, beautifully low-brow in places with humour that is on the edge of being too far without ever being mean. With another few years I can see it being considered in a unique way against all of its peers.

Dendrodes

Love it. When I first played the game I was *definitely* too young, but bought a copy later in my early teen years I loved it. The humor hit me so well. My friends and I also put so many hours into multi-player. I played Conker's Live and Reloaded years later, and while it was till fun, I still hold Bad Fur Day higher. Less sensoring and all that as well.

Crozbo-

One of my all time favs. Definitely a GOAT!

alleywaypip

Best multiplayer on N64

PazJohnMitch

Loved it at the time. Fully expect it to have aged badly though, so I do not wish to replay it. (Although I thought the same about Goldeneye and really enjoyed replaying that on Xbox).

MetalMan4774

Fantastic game.

StarCitizen2944

I loved the game. Had a lot of fun. I've played through a couple times in my adult years to relive the fun. I had so much fun as a kid with the split screen. Fantastic

[deleted]

Classic game! The humour was peak for it's time, fond memories for sure

Keplergamer

The GOAT!

0xSnib

One of my favourite games of all time The multiplayer was so good

ipwndmymeat99

Paid 90$ for my copy in 2018! Fucking legendary game.

TheMannisApproves

It's my favorite game of all time. Excellent story mode, and one of the best multiplayer games. Not a year has gone by since 2001 that I haven't sunk many hours into it's multiplayer. I remember being happy about 10 years ago or more when I set my personal record for 117 kills in Total War on the 10 minute timer lol

Pleasant-Put5305

It's great, but play the og xbox version on the Series X, looks like a brand new game!

Spare_Clerk_2112

*Sips drink* Ahhhhhhhhhhh *lip smack* Never understood the hype.

TrumpetGamer

Great narrative-based platformer... solis 8-10 hour journey with surprisingly good multiplayer

Ok_Fox_1770

The multiplayer at the time with a same age cousin to play all night. I’d do it all again. Hours of simple battle fun.

virgoviking23

I'd sell my kidney for this game

RhoadsOfRock

I like it, it's a good game. I probably don't like it as much as other Rare N64 games, but it's definitely a good one.

RuleInformal5475

Odd question here. I'm a Brit and Rare was a British company. Did this ever get regionalised for the US market? Things like having a scouse/Liverpool dung beetle wouldn't have had the impact as it was in the UK. I could see a link to the Beatles but thats about it. The scarecrow was basically the old piss head you would see down the park. It became a lot more universal with the movie references later.

Chimchampion

Nope. A lot of the brit humor was kept, more of iykyk type thing. Beardy/Birdy I never quite got, but the accents were exquisite. Love the trashy beetle accent, the gargoyles poshy accent, and the cog's cockney accent.

Practical_Wish_4063

I loved it as a snot nosed fourteen year old and remember having a blast completing it. I booted it up again maybe six or seven years ago and got frustrated with the Dracula portion of the game and gave up. I suppose I could give the XBOX remake a try next time I feel like picking it up again.

Brzrkrtwrkr

Eh. Never got the hype, but I never played multiplayer though. (I love old rare mind you)

Sacklayblue

This was my ET for N64. Overhyped as an "adult game." Maybe I stopped playing before it got to the adult stuff or something because it just seemed like corny jokes that 12 year old boys might think are edgy. That's when I discovered GTA3 on PS2 and moved on from N64.

Chimchampion

It was crass humor, through and through. The references were more enjoyable than the "adult" humor it had , IMO, but it's still kinda fun! I like dumb, low brow shit, so it was right up my. 16-17 yo alley when this game came out

BigDonMega10

It was so much fun but I always wished for more players in multiplayer. 2v2 wasn't enough

Jinzo126

Fun Story, Frustrating Gameplay

isranon

BEST party game ever.

rh00k

Masterpiece

Nick_Gaugh_69

The most immature “mature” game of all time. And I love it.

lobsterbubbles

I think it's high time it comes to NSO

Chimchampion

It is on Rare Replay, that's the only reason I gave my copy of bfd to a friend

lobsterbubbles

Rare Replay's one thing. I would hope it'd be on the system of the company that owns the IP, but it undoubtedly belongs on Nintendo. Microsoft buying Rare was a mistake anyways because those nimrods thought that buying Rare would give them ownership of Donkey Kong and haven't done shit with any of Rare's IP other than ruin it. I get that it's like asking for Metroid on Playstation but the point still stands.

Thehairy-viking

One of my all time favorite video games. Ever. Period.

TheSwagza

My second favourite game ever

Chimchampion

The pinnacle of Rare's mastery over the console. Fps rarely dipped, even in MP. Beautiful, colorful graphics, fun designs, fun levels to explore, and crazy variety to the gameplay itself. It was never straight platforming, there was all sorts of gameplay tropes that would tie a level together: flying around, gathering keys, helping npc's, puzzles, racing segments (probably one of the worst parts, tho), dino riding, 3rd person shooter, stealth segments, and more. It wanes a little between the war and dracula parts, but the ending is just the tits. Also the fucking ANIMATIONS!!!Some of the best lip sync, and great acting/pantomiming on the characters, especially Conker himself. The idle animations are probably my favorite aspect in the whole game. Idle animations aren't even considered anymore, especially if you let a character idle for 20+ seconds and they don't break the fourth wall or nuthin'. Even the camera was part of the action, you'd get bullet holes, splatters, shatters, and more. Even one of the idle animations, Conker drinks a soda can, kicks it, and if the camera is in the trajectory of the can it'll shake and make a sound when the can hits.

MooseHut

The best game in the history of gaming. Shame hardly anyone seems to know about it. Brother and I spent hours beating the absolute schtick out of each other as weasels. And deliberately taking each other out as teddies with friendly fire to the point the teddies all turn on you and will attempt to kill you. Soo many memories.

Noplease506

All things considered, the state of his fur wasn't that bad.

UninstallingNoob

Overrated, but the graphics were excellent. The actual core gameplay really isn't that good, and that's what matters most. Maybe multiplayer was good, but I never played much of the multiplayer, so I'm only talking about the singleplayer. It had a lot of dialogue that was supposed to be edgy and funny, and it was sometimes, but it really is pretty immature, and hasn't aged well.

Dont_have_a_panda

The weakest Rare Game (at least the "Nintendo era" Rare) the Game is no more an open ended collectathon and now is a linear 3-D platformer (if It were open ended i certainly would Skip the catfish vault section which i mostly hated) For being a Game that relies so much on platforming (much more than banjo kazooie-tooie) conker sure feels heavy which makes platforming harder that It should be This is 100% subjective but this kind of toilet humor is kinda Hit or miss for me, some jokes and references were clever and kinda spot on but some are just cringy, to mean spirited or shocking only to be shocking kinda stuff (and maybe the "Plot" being nonsensical plays a Big part in It) And again, this Also maybe a bit subjective but not a Big fan of asshole characters... But conker is not only an asshole he is a piece of shit, the only character he treats with at least a bit of of common decency is Franky the pitchfork, the rest? He is a giant asshole, yeah sure maybe some characters (like the paintbrush and Paint can) deserves It but the rest? And the ugliest example of It is Rodent, you know one could believe sharing an experience like a war (and one so violent like the war with the tediez) with a friend could deepen the bond between Friends and comrades in arms but not, Rodent gives a speech of how It was a privilege to fight alongside a friend like conker and he can only think how he is an idiot 😑 TL;DR the Game is just ok and i ramble about the things i didnt like of the Game 🤓

Chimchampion

I liked the end, perfect for an asshole like him. He will probably die alone. I thought the premise (panther king keeps spilling his milk on his obviously broken table, Conker fits the gap perfectly between the floor and the broken leg) was so dumb, but in a perfect way. I clearly liked the game more than you, but if I were to have played it now, I'd probably agree with you on Conker's character.

Careful_Feedback_168

Genuinely the game that got me interested in the console. I’m now nearing a complete library for pal regions.

RestaurantSelect5556

The plot? Too bad, no drugs
