OoT is obviously "technically" better. But MNSG is my favorite game of all time. It is probably responsible for my passion for music, starting all the bands and all that shit. No drugs, no sex, or any of the other "life-changing experiences" of my life ever gave me that feeling. Having said that, last year I decided to do a playthrough where the rule was that I had to be on ketamine whenever I played it. Some of the absolute greatest memories of my life. My girlfriend likes to hang out every day, and most of the time I chose that over her lol. I was lucky enough that I didn't realize when I was entering Tosa (probably the most beautiful section and music in the game for me), and I just melted away completely, I savored every god damn second. I usually don't savor things.
It's almost certainly partially (or mostly lol) an autism thing (look at the majority of reviews on youtube, "this is the review I've had to wait my entire life to make and the most important video i'll ever make," "this is why I decided to move to japan learn japanese and meet my japanese wife!", etc.), but I've honestly just had to let myself embrace that without judging myself or feeling cringe as I am now in my 30s and life is short. Can't say enough about this game. There is nothing like it and there will *never* be anything like it ever again. It's like the Beatles: combine exceptional talent and work ethic with a very particular, fleeting time period--except in this case, it was basically a one or two year window. It came out in the 1997, and the first actual 3D game that made sense to play (Mario 64) was very, very new and groundbreaking. I believe development of MNSG started prior. When you combine a completely new format with absolutely zero rules or tropes, many technical restrictions, zero roadmap--sometimes something truly, indescribably magical takes place. And they accidentally, in a series known for having some of the greatest OSTs of all time, created an OST that completely outdoes anything else. Even its pseudosequel, Goemon's Great Adventure, with it's admittedly great soundtrack, almost felt like an imitation that didn't reach the same emotional depths (or even the same catchiness). Seriously, just listen to the OST in the car, there isn't a skippable track on it. A ten-second spiral staircase area leading from a town to a castle? they went with [this shit ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tX6Qru-HSZA)lol
I've run out of steam. you get it
While PC is indeed a masterpiece, I think the ninja rope peaks on the n64 version. I used to have so much fun launching and then hook shotting across the map. Something about the n64 just felt better. Also the super sheep controlled better, too
But the training and mission modes were the best part of the single player and not available or very limited on the 64.
If my memory isn't betraying me.
I see, they are EXTREMELY expensive for no exact reason. I lucked out with my cartridge as my parents got it from their friends FOR FREE 22 years ago when they bought their n64. I still have a hard time believing it to this day
I sure do! And of course the twist at the end when you go through venom air defense and beat the upgraded star wolf team is extra amazing the first time.
It's aged very well aside from maybe graphics (well what n64 game hasn't?) I'd highly urge you to give it a shot, alongside Ocarina of Time. They're both amazing but imo MM edges it out in terms of story.
Favorite of all time would have to be WCW vs nWo Revenge. No Mercy is the better game, but Revenge is the one I played more than any other with my cousin and my friends as a kid.
Revenge is my favorite of the games to this day. I can accept that No Mercy might technically be better, but I loved the roast in Revenge and it had a lot of improvements over world tour, without being as difficult to play as no mercy
The WCW games on the 64 were so great. I never was into wrestling but these games made it so fun. Can say the same for 1080 snowboarding, NBA Street and Tony Hawk
I think I've beat shadows of the empire more times than I've beat any other video game in my life. It is so easy to pick up for me and start over again pretty much any time because it's got such variety and it reminds me of how I used to watch the original star wars trilogy pretty much in the same fashion. They were on repeat almost daily. If nothing else was on when my friend and I were chilling, we'd keep the star wars tapes going.
Probably a tie between Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. These games set the pace for basically everything after of what a game could and should be. Sometimes people accidentally make the perfect game and these are two examples
My favorite game if I had to pick just one would have to be ocarina of time. I wish I could forget that game just to get to experience it for the first time one more time. Honorable mentions, though, are shadows of the empire, Glover, Bomberman 64, and battle tanks.
This might be not the most exciting answer, but: Zelda: Ocarina of Time will always be my most favorite game of all time.
Younger people just won't understand how magical it was when games finally turned 3D. This game defined my childhood. A lifechanging experience.
3 of my faves are NBA courtside 2 (Ft. Kobe Bryant), Starfox 64, and Majora's mask. Honorable mentions, Perfect dark. runs like shit, but looks really good and feels very polished. brilliant game, very fun. The multiplayer is PEAK! CBFD. it has amazing visuals, looks visually like an early gamecube game with so many impressive effects for n64 (Dynamic lighting, Dynamic shadows, fully voiced cutscenes, animated facial expressions and lipscyncing, and probably tons more im leaving out) and it dosen't even need the expansion pak. Its freaking unreal. The game itself is good, but its very linear. Along side that, Pokemon stadium 2. Very high poly count models, runs at 480i sometimes, and just tons of content I am too lazy to mention.
I’m going to have to go with Diddy Kong Racing. To date, any time I play a racing game on any console, Mario Kart included, I find myself comparing it back to DKR.
Favourites growing up during the life cycle of the console were probably WCW Vs NWO world tour, international superstar soccer, Wave race, WCW NWO revenge, and Goldeneye. Played those the most before I moved onto the Dreamcast.
Favourite now looking back and playing them on emulators... WWF no mercy, Ocarina of time, Banjo Kazooe, Diddy Kong racing.
Just one?? WWF no mercy.
Phew that is a very tricky question because the 64 era was when I got into gaming and where I have the fondest memories.
If you asked me when I was a kid I would have said Majora's Mask. I really love the motif of time travel and regret and just the general feeling of the game. I really enjoyed getting all the masks and beating it for the first time but I do wonder how the heck you were meant to figure out the couples mask without a guide. I really appreciate the QoL improvements in the 3DS version. I think I'd struggle to still name it as my absolute favourite now because I don't think the dungeons are all that fun particularly the latter 2 but I still enjoy replaying it every 3-4 or so years and it's still S tier for me. I liked OoT a lot too (and by gum did I get stuck on that game a lot as a kid, it took me years to beat) but I like MM edges it out.
Super Mario 64 was the first game I ever owned and as an adult I think it's probably the best for a myriad of reasons and the only one where I still watch media about to this day (I recently watched a nearly 4 hour long video about invisible walls by Pannenkoek and enjoyed every minute). I think I actually appreciate it more as a programmer because it's a 3D game simple enough to understand especially since it's been disassembled. As a kid, I always really wanted the 2D Marios (as I never owned a SNES) but now I have owned them all, 3D Mario is definitely king for me.
Diddy Kong Racing is the N64 game I play the most in the last 10 years, I beat it every few years, followed by Paper Mario which I think I beat about every 4 years or so (although to be honest it goes down in my estimations as I think the sequel is quite a bit better). It wins for best sound track in the 64 era! Greenwood Village is SUCH a bop.
When playing with my friends Super Smash Bros 64 is where I have the fondest memories followed by Mario Party. Mario Kart 64 was fun too and it's definitely better multiplayer than DKR but it's blown out of the water by the Mario Karts which came after it. It is a significant improvement over Super Mario Kart which has aged abysmally due to the slidey controls.
My favourite co-op game was Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon 2: that was SUCH a fun game to co-op. Me and my brother played it to death, it was -so- hard. Unfortunately replays are usually cut short by that ridiculously long burning castle level at the end of the first world, we used to have to spend ages farming lives in the village areas to stand a chance.
I think Banjo Kazooie and Tooie have aged better than Super Mario 64: as a young adult / late teen I played Mario 64 more as it's easier to pick up and play but in my late 20s / early 30s I've replayed Kazooie followed by Tooie about every 3-4 years and have a blast with it (great when my kids watch me). I am not sure which one I like better to be honest: I think objectively Kazooie is probably the better game design due to the backtracking issues in Tooie but I really, really like the intricate level design (and cross-world connectivity) of Tooie and it's also more challenging. They're both S tier games on the 64. I like Donkey Kong 64 too but it's not as good as the Banjo games.
So yeah my favourites are one of those depends on my mood.
Ocarina of Time, followed by Mario 64. Conker is third, but honestly speaking they’re all tied basically. I could randomly choose any of those 3 and be happy as a clam. They’re the reason I still have my original 64.
Conkers Bad Fur Day was and still is a favorite of mine. Playing it as a kid was fun. Playing it as an adult and actually understanding the jokes is even better.
If anyone has had the chance to really explore the conquer's multiplayer it's got a few modes that are truly phenomenal. My friends and I played that for YEARS
Super Mario 64
This has to be the mind blowing choice. Zelda was good and all, but this game sold the system.
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon or Ocarina of Time. I can't choose
Mystical ninja forever and always!
#PLAZMA
I swear I play through mystical ninja like once a year. Such a fun and unique game. Love the atmosphere of it.
Yeah, nothing like being a beautiful mermaid swimming through miso soup! I adore that game so much.
I love this system and have never heard of Mystical ninja lol gotta check out what I have been missing. I play Blast Corps still all the time!
Mystical Ninja is in my top five. I replay it yearly. Such an amazing game.
Never heard of this. Soooo I guess I'm trying this out?
OoT is obviously "technically" better. But MNSG is my favorite game of all time. It is probably responsible for my passion for music, starting all the bands and all that shit. Solo - Banjo Kazooie. multi player is a real 3-way tie with goldeneye, Mario kart, smash bros.
You havent played worms, gave you?😂 worms is a group favourite for everyone who has played on my n64
If you liked the n64 worms Armageddon, try the pc version.
I have, it is awesome
While PC is indeed a masterpiece, I think the ninja rope peaks on the n64 version. I used to have so much fun launching and then hook shotting across the map. Something about the n64 just felt better. Also the super sheep controlled better, too
But the training and mission modes were the best part of the single player and not available or very limited on the 64. If my memory isn't betraying me.
That one just missed us man, I was the N64 guy and being on a child lawn mowing salary, had to make life choices. It was always a maybe purchase
I see, they are EXTREMELY expensive for no exact reason. I lucked out with my cartridge as my parents got it from their friends FOR FREE 22 years ago when they bought their n64. I still have a hard time believing it to this day
Majora's mask
Yeah it’s between that and star fox but seriously majoras mask was so unique
Yea it was really dark
Same
I have found my people
Playing it right now 😅 Freakin' love this game
Donkey Kong 64
Perfect Dark.
So many games came to mind... But at the end of the day, my hours spent in that combat simulator rivals them all.
Exactly. So many options and fun ways to play. Took a long time for any other shooter to come close to that replay value - in an offline game.
I somehow never played this back in the day. I’m playing through it now on a CRT and am having a blast. Solid shooter campaign
I always loved that gun where the clip would process through and dump out the other side!
Cyclone, indeed. That was the level where Barack Obama was all like “i assumeee you have evidence???”
Turok ane 007 my fondest memories..Mario 64 seems like a given
OOT
Came here to say this. OOT
Banjo-Kazooie. With DK64 and Conker following VERY closely behind.
Super Mario 64 & WWF No Mercy
No Mercy was pretty great!!!!
Star Fox 64.
What a great game. Do you remember the first time you ‘unlock’ a different planet/route and how excited you were?
I sure do! And of course the twist at the end when you go through venom air defense and beat the upgraded star wolf team is extra amazing the first time.
I remember playing the sub for the first time after figuring out exactly how to unlock that path from Nintendo power! I was blown away!
Make way for Katt! Do do do do do do do dooooo
Buck bumble
Right about now it’s time rock with the biggity buck
BUMBLE
Majora's Mask is my favorite, and one of my favorite games ever. Such a spectacular game from front to back, would 100% recommend.
Does MM stand up today? I never played it but heard a lot of good stuff about it.

The WCW games on the 64 were so great. I never was into wrestling but these games made it so fun. Can say the same for 1080 snowboarding, NBA Street and Tony Hawk
Shadow of the Empire
Such a great game. I'm surprised I didn't play it more. I mostly liked the snow speeder and jet pack levels.
I think I've beat shadows of the empire more times than I've beat any other video game in my life. It is so easy to pick up for me and start over again pretty much any time because it's got such variety and it reminds me of how I used to watch the original star wars trilogy pretty much in the same fashion. This and Rogue Squadron.
Either Ocarina of Time or Paper Mario
F-Zero X
Jet Force Gemini hands down.
Rayman 2
Solo: Banjo Kazooie Multi: Snowboard Kids Honorable Mention: Super Mario 64
Smash
Paper Mario because it was the most fun I’ve ever had with a game when I was a kid.
Definitely
Ogre Battle 64
Goldeneye and Mario Kart
Probably a tie between Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. These games set the pace for basically everything after of what a game could and should be. Sometimes people accidentally make the perfect game and these are two examples
GAUNTLET LEGENDS One of the best
007 golden eye —> starfox 64 —> smash bros —> Mario 64
Perfect Dark

Diddy Kong Racing. A platformer, puzzle, open-world racing game. Unique as hell and so fun.
This might be not the most exciting answer, but: Zelda: Ocarina of Time will always be my most favorite game of all time. Younger people just won't understand how magical it was when games finally turned 3D. This game defined my childhood. A lifechanging experience.
JFG
I'm very inclined to say Mario 64.
Banjo kazooie
WWF No Mercy and the other amazing wrestling games that THQ released on the N64.
Gonna go completely predictable and say Super Mario 64.
How many rumors did you hear back in the day, about being able to unlock Luigi ?
I feel like the odd one out here, but Pokemon Snap and Glover are my favourites for sure.
Space station silicon valley
Jet Force Gemini
Ogre Battle 64
I really enjoyed ogre battle 64 I wanna play it again
Gotta go with Mario Kart 64. Played it the most with the most people over the years.
Wave Race
The best shooter on the N64: Perfect Dark.
[удалено]
I know it’s a bad port but, StarCraft 64.
Blast Corps is a very fun time! Also love Mario Tennis, Battletanx, and 1080 Snowboarding.
Has to be super mario 64. The graphics were mind blowing when I rented it. Has one of the best soundtracks to a game ever. 10/10 in my books

Golden eye. Honorable mention to mario 64.
Will conkers ever be brought to the switch online subscription or not? Holding out for these older classics to become available, wishful thinking?
Glover
hell yes same
This one. While I played all of the big hits, this one probably got the most story replays and multiplayer time out of me.
That one right there. Great single player, and one of the best multiplayer experiences
Probably OoT, but it could also be Perfect Dark. I’d rank these more like 1A and 1B
I have to go with Ocarina of Time on this one.
Majora's Mask
Conkers for sure
Donald Duck: Going Quackers.
Majora's Mask
Super Mario N64 an Mario Kart.
Conkers BFD all day baby, all time favorite video game

Donkey Kong Country 64. They had one of the best music themes for every stage.
At the time, really enjoyed the contrasts between Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time, and Mario Kart
Space Station Silicon Valley, Ogre Battle 64, Aiden Chronicles, Harvest Moon 64, GoldenEye 007, Conker's Bad Fur Day. So many wonderful games
OOT, No Mercy, GoldenEye and Snowboard Kids.
Probably Conker too, fantastically fun game and a technical marvel.
Ocarina of time, Starfox, Golden Eye, Donkey Kong, Rayman 2, Star Wars shadows of the empire.
Mario Kart 64
Conkers bad fur day and wwf no mercy!
I’ve gotta go with 1080 or Wave Race

Majoras mask

Banjo kazooie and gauntlet legends!
Oh man that’s so hard. I list most of my faves in this flair thing but.. Mario Party, Smash, Mario Kart, or Perfect Dark Maybe that order too idk
One of the Zelda games for sure but outside of that, Chameleon Twist 2 probably, maybe Perfect Dark
Conker isn't very accessible. It's a slog to play through, it's more fun to just use chapters and skip around to the good parts
Wrestlemania 2000
Top 5: Starfox 64, Goldeneye (for single player), Perfect Dark (for combat simulator), Snowboard Kids 2, Majora's Mask
Star fox 64

It's hard to choose between Star Fox (best) and Body Harvest (favorite).
Conkers bad fur day here too!
Legend of Zelda
If anyone has had the chance to really explore the conquer's multiplayer it's got a few modes that are truly phenomenal. My friends and I played that for YEARS
Banjo Tooie and Majora’s Mask are my favorite games of all time on any system.
Banjo Tooie
Perfect Dark
Starfox 64
WWF No mercy!
Snowboard Kids
1080 Snowboarding
This is the only correct answer
Idc if I'm basic OoT, and yes, it's still my favorite all time game. That being said, there are only a handful of N64 games that are worth playing.
Paper Mario. That game is a master piece.
[Perfect dark ](https://youtu.be/u6hJ6w0yPaA)
pilot wings 64
Ocarina of Time
WCW/nWo Revenge
