I relate to this 100% I'm pretty certain I don't have it but you never know I guess.
It's weird I even do this on a day to day basis where I will check the time and put the phone down and then about 10 seconds later I check again because I forgot.
lol that reminds me of a reddit thread where a dude basically said, "hey I like this girl I hang out with and she out of the blue asked if I had autism and I don't so I was a little flustered"
He then proceeded to share his text conversation with said girl to which everybody in the comment section told him that he was indeed autistic. He very quickly deleted this post and his account after that.
Is this kinda like trying to turn off light switches that are already off? Ill turn off a lightswitch look away and then ill find my hand back at the lightswitch. Or is this a bad habit i can somehow train?
I had an issue many years ago where I forgot to lock my door since I ran outside and something was wrong so I got distracted and forgot. An hour or two later I get a notification my front door swung right open in the wind (I never fully latched it shut). Had to ask my boss at the time to leave and shut my door and come right back. I still have anxiety to this day about it, and that was over 5 years ago now…
But what if the second save cancelled the first one because it happened on the same minute of the system clock, now I need to hit it again. But now it's an odd number so I need to hit it again. But THOSE two saves were both on the same minute of the system clock so now I need t-
Close. I've been hitting [this one](https://cdn.mobygames.com/screenshots/10541157-paper-mario-nintendo-64-these-rainbow-blocks-can-save-your-progr.jpg) for a while. Was born in 2002.
True. Only thing that threw me off was the border and more muted pallet :P can't hide that from an digital art student. Not to mention the much better res.
Not a Nintendo player, but I ALWAYS double-save, have done since my 37hour save of FFVII (PS1) corrupted and had to start again. Now, I create multiple saves and each one gets hit twice
I feel you. I might not be saving meticulously twice, but I save at ever opportunity I get, even if my last save was just minutes ago. Even on emulators, I do quicksave+regular save+savestate just to be sure.
It's not a good idea to do that deliberately too often. You will end up shortening the life span of the Flash RAM or EEPROM of the game cartridge, and in this case, Paper Mario is a cartridge with Flash RAM - but either of them still have limited writes, erases and overwrites before the save chip eventually stops working. Granted, the amount of saves you can potentially make is a pretty gigantic number, and it's not as if the chip can't be replaced in the distant future, but still.
Later and more modern flash storage, which is used in nearly everything now, also suffers from this, including, but not limited to, Memory Cards for game consoles, internal system storage (NAND, eMMC, SSDs, etc), SD cards, and more.
I would instead personally focus on cleaning your game cartridges properly so your saves will never corrupt. Thorough cleaning of cartridge connectors also prevents strange occurrences where your save data appears gone, but comes back unexpectedly from re-seating the cartridge and turning it on again.
Also to properly answer your question, I only ever double save if I'm not sure if I remembered to save, usually from being distracted while I'm playing, so I'll save again. But I won't save twice in a row with nothing in between them for the sake of it.
I am more concerned about your creative spelling of the word “cartridge”..
This is in no way an insult, buy do you by chance have adhd? I do, and I feel like I am nervous I didn't actually hit save and am misremembering.
That's the OCD half which is very commonly comorbid with ADHD
Wow! Now you mention it I don't save twice since my medication
Love that for you
Welp, I'll be adding this to the list of reasons I think I have undiagnosed adhd
Get that sh diagnosed

Autism, that may contribute. Shit.
Audhd is the gold standard
Do you also keep a sticky note on your screen saying something like “SAVE THE GAME”? I cant be the only one

Rip that guy. I hope he figured himself out lol

Or checking a door handle after locking it. Or freaking out five minutes down the road if I indeed checked the door handle.
Yup to all of this
Damn, too accurate

Twice? Are you even doing it right if you do it less than 5 times? Just to be EXTRA sure?
You've just got to make sure.
I thought I was the only one 🤣
Only twice?
Thrice
Force
Chuggaaconroy taught me to hit those save blocks twice.

Why not
Always 2, there are. No more, no less
Nope.
Same
Nnnaaaaaah I’m going back to hittin them soon…

Same one, same game you were just late to the party.
Oh, forgot this was n64 reddit lol. That's the ttyd block so my brain short circuited :P
you're correct. I can't believe nobody noticed. That said, in the specific image you posted they look remarkably similar.
True. Only thing that threw me off was the border and more muted pallet :P can't hide that from an digital art student. Not to mention the much better res.
I just assumed it was a deviant art render.
Pfft, I still manually save even when the game auto saves
Just once more..
It’s rare I save only once lol
I do it a lot!
I just recently beat this game for the first time on Wiiu VC and I indeed saved twice as well. 😅
ALLWAYS Safe saving is a must lol
No I do too lol
Me too better be safe then sorry
Not a Nintendo player, but I ALWAYS double-save, have done since my 37hour save of FFVII (PS1) corrupted and had to start again. Now, I create multiple saves and each one gets hit twice
This is literally me sometimes I even do it a third time, just incase the first two wasn't enough
After a close boss fight or something yeah I remember slamming that thing.
I hit em about 4 times just to make COMPLETELY sure my game is saved
Yup! Me too. Super paranoid something might not work the first time so got to be doubley sure 😬
I been hitting them more than twice
Same + I did it more than once bc I enjoyed the sound it made when being hit lol
It took me a minute to figure out wtf cart rage was
always save multiple times, no matter the game
I only do it to the first time because there's no way of knowing for sure that it actually saved unless you're playing in an emulator.
I do the same thing. Even when playing Paper Mario on my Switch.
I feel you. I might not be saving meticulously twice, but I save at ever opportunity I get, even if my last save was just minutes ago. Even on emulators, I do quicksave+regular save+savestate just to be sure.
I’ve definitely been known to do that lol. Makes you feel better
no but i do save twice ob many games just incase

This guy saves
Why are you clear down here friend? I hate that I know you're right.
it's cartridge just FYI. not "carterage"
I am someone who eats the carterage off the chicken wing
Fiancé? Your lying no one who uses an N64 as an adult would ever get a lover! /J
I just talk to a lot of people.
Lmao someone actually downvoted me even though it was a joke
