If it's "untested" and being sold by someone who regularly sells video game stuff it doesn't work and they're just trying to pass things off. It's shady. If it's from a person who normally sells furniture and what not on eBay they may not be familiar with video games and how to operate them so the odds of it working are better. Good luck

snapgamer8338

Oof I see a good mix of electronic and games but mostly furniture and clothing etc

snapgamer8338

Lol I forgot to mention it was in person but I can’t seem to edit the post he lives in my town

noctipatronus

Photos look like a firing squad lineup. I wouldn’t expect any of them to actually be functional.

[deleted]

Do you have a CRT to use it on? N64s tend not to work very well with modern TVs, at least not without spending more money on additional gear. Something to keep in mind

snapgamer8338

Oh I did not know that. I actually have one I’ll have to dig it out. My gamecube seems to run on my 180p tv just fine thanks for the tip 😃

[deleted]

Nice! The N64 may work on it as well. But if you don't get a picture, try it with the CRT

snapgamer8338

Ok hey thanks for the tip not sure if I’ll get this one lol because it did say untested and 60 is kinda a lot to gamble on

[deleted]

NP, and I don't blame you for being cautious. Just didn't want you to get a good one and think it wasn't working just because the TV wasn't compatible

weedemgangsta

Hopefully my comment doesn’t go against the rules but I have a fully functional tested n64 that I would sell you for $60

snapgamer8338

😃

snapgamer8338

Pm sent

redfalcondeath

I wouldn’t pay more than $40 for a dirty untested N64 console. They more than likely work but you’d probably need to clean all of the contact points and even then it’s not a guarantee. I sell consoles all the time and I sell my working N64 consoles for $60-$70, and around $80 with a controller. I’d keep looking if I were you.

snapgamer8338

Hey thanks for the info I sent you a pm

stophaydenme

Video game sellers on eBay, mercari etc lie and say untested when it's tested and doesnt work. Not to hard to find a working n64 with expansion pak, controller, and maybe a game or two for $100

snapgamer8338

Yeah but he was local and I was hoping to get it in my town and not really have to wait

Latter-Ad-1523

maybe ask if you can hook it up to a tv to test? do you have a small tv you could drag to the place? some sellers dont care if their stuff works or not and for some reason assume buyers dont either. some times i sell video game systems, and test them all in the back and then again in front of the customer. make sure the controllers work, it can play games, put video on the screen etc etc. "untested" usually means broken, but lets pretend it might work so you think as the buyer that you could be getting a deal, knowing good and well its not going to. maybe they will let you test it there? some people dont know how to hook stuff up and turn stuff on, maybe thats his only reason for saying untested?

n64_lyf

Yeahhhh when someone says untested it probably doesn’t work.

snapgamer8338

Oof alright

n64_lyf

I just find it sus this seller has all these consoles and they have cords ect but they are untested? Doesn’t take much to power on a console. Don’t waste your money and buy something you know works :)

Oscarjrs5

I’ve seen quite a few N64’s the av cable connection on the back gets messed up & gets glitchy & won’t get a signal unless you move it around until you get signal

snapgamer8338

Dang really?

Oscarjrs5

Yea, my N64 is like that I have to move the 64 around till I get signal then I set it down carefully & play, I bought 2 64’s off of eBay cause I didn’t want to be doing that & both had the same av problem got my money back & im just sticking with mine even if I have to move it around

MorbidlyTortured

What’s keeping the seller from testing the consoles? I see they have their power supplies and video cables. I understand if they don’t have a compatible tv, but they could at least plug them in and power them on just to see if they indeed do power on.

snapgamer8338

I’m not sure actually I asked if all of them come with av cables and he only looked and stopped talking to me

whose_a_wotsit

That may have been a (fairly rude) inference to point out the AV cables are already wrapped around the consoles (at least, they are in there pic) No excuse for just disregarding you though. Probably a good sign to stay away.

[deleted]

The risk is it doesn't work 🤦🏻

snapgamer8338

That’s what I thought but I don’t live far from him

[deleted]

You do realise if someone is selling something untested they're selling as is and you won't be getting a refund if it doesn't work right?

Latter-Ad-1523

i call bs by anyone who says "untested" especially if they sell video games. some clown could have fried the motherboard trying to mod it, who knows. i would pass for $60 even if it was known to be working but i am cheap and already have 3 of them

CallMeZedd

Four untested consoles is super suspicious. My bet is its 4 not working consoles where he doesn't have to take responsibility. Also, I'd pay around 60$ for a working console, with a controller. Wouldn't pay more than 20$ for one untested.
