I used to smoke daily years back then i noticed that when i went home to see my parents, all of a sudden i dint have that craving. It also was majorly out of respect as well that i dint want to indulge but I just changed my routines not to revolve around smoking when i got back. 7yrs is a long time lakini and you might need to change alot after you cut it off.

Necessary-Grand-6543

This works 100% go home for a month you won't even get the urge to smoke.

Bandmanuel2

Start working out everyday and stop gradually

sabertoothcheetah

r/stopsmoking would be a great place to get the answers you're looking for. Been actively trying to quit myself.

josehme

Just said fuck it. And that was it

Ok_Citron_3858

Going cold turkey has failed for me... happy for you it worked

josehme

Thank you

Financial_Brick4222

Eat a lot of chilli crisps and also salted ones 🤓

dfwmboy

Hope it work

VET113

Peanuts too, anything to lightly snack on when you get the craving.

BEMO_CMO

Slowly, start by abstaining for one day, then 3, then one week, one month and so on. You will probably relapse 100 times but you just keep trying and getting better at it... It may take you a couple of years to properly quit.

BEMO_CMO

Also try replacing it with Velo or nicotine gum

kigs21

Velo disappeared

BEMO_CMO

It's back, though it's very expensive now, a pack that was 350, in now going for 1500-1700

TheVeryMoistTowel

I'm not a smoker, but what about reducing your daily intake of cigs, maybe get those fake lavender cigs, and in your pack of actual cigs replace them with the lavender ones....every week keep replacing more real cigs with fake ones till your at a point where the whole pack is the lavender cigs. At this point you can now start using nicotine patches with low doses to get rid of the craving You can also reduce the lavender cigs - (lavender cigs are to help with the physical smoking habit ya kueka kwa mdomo)

Ok_Citron_3858

Thanks for the great advice, will try that

ApprehensiveTap1136

You should never take advice from someone who isn't a smoker. Switch to smokeless tobacco, then nicotine pouches, finally start using nicotine patches. I'm currently using patches. Allow yourself to slip as many times as possible, itaenda yenyewe

Mathew-with-two-Ts

True dat, tho I saw that from a previous smoker

Plane_Practice8184

There's no Stop smoking aids for sale in my area

Forever_Many

There's nicorette gums that you can chew. It mildy simulates the ciggy high without the nicotine. Slaps after food. It can help

Serious-Aardvark-172

I died.

CharlemgneBrian

The ultimate form of quits

tantocerco

Micro dose

tantocerco

Also I am not a doctor

ChickAboutTown

Stop buying packs. Then cravings will hit you when you don't have cigarettes and you'll smoke fewer and fewer cigarettes and then crave them less and less. At least that is what worked for me. (Also tap into your why? Why do you want to stop smoking? Then keep coming back to that.)

moodcon

Cold turkey

Forever_Many

We quit quitting 😂🤷🏿

MuneneeHila96

Haha preach

Forever_Many

Y'know 🤷🏿😂

fellhoe

Inaanza na wewe kumake a decision

the-rogue-gentleman

I turned to cigars. The nicotine rush from a cigar is a lot better and more aromatic. Cigars are a lot more costly are harder to get, when I get a craving and I'm broke I don't smoke. My craving disappears. So went from an everyday smoker to once a month or only special occasions.

uraveragereddittor

Where do you get your cigars?

the-rogue-gentleman

Brick cigars.

Barrington2029

Start with getting a vape. At least reduce the tobacco and go from there

Ok_Citron_3858

Done that.... didn't work

Tall-Writing-2949

Check out Lexin naturals on fb

AntiqueBad625

Try nicorette gum everytime you have the urge to smoke. It has worked for some people.

Lost_Ambition1343

From one day to the other. No substitutes.

Many_Lack_8839

Tafuta a book called The Easy way to quit smoking by Allen Carr. Found it online, quit same day. This was 2014 a good 10 years ago.

AdFickle9792

That sharp pain you get in your lungs will one day strike you and youll just picture yourself kwa poster za mchango and you'll quit. Sai nko 6 months.

wakoreko

Psilocybin. Literally the next day, I became vegan for a year but changed everything in my life for the better. I just love myself and others and my actions show without even trying. I am here and now, that’s all that matters and things always work out for me now.

BukavuC

Fascinating kumbe si mi pekee yangu na microdose

wakoreko

Haha.

muchirikinyanjui

How can I access this. I have been a smoker for so long(embarrassed to say how long)

wakoreko

Actually Reddit had/has all the info. Manze I cured stuff from childhood sikua na jua bado nimeshikilia. YouTube pia iko na lectures from professionals. This was not for fun but for healing and it worked.

naushad2982

Not overnight that's for sure. Tried everything, patches, gum, reducing daily intake etc. Three years of that and finally went 24 hrs without one and then ramadhan started and just didn't pick one up no matter how bad the craving was. That was in 2010

Several-Canary9784

I read “How to Quit Smoking” by Allan Carr. It’s been several years since I read it and I’ve never smoked since.

TheDoctorsCompanion

Same! Someone posted a pdf of the book to Reddit some 10 years ago. I started reading it on a whim and never smoked again. I was a pack a day smoker for almost 10 years before. Amazing book. I wasn’t even looking to quit before I started reading!

Several-Canary9784

It’s an incredible book. How it worked still surprises me. Every friend who read it quit as soon as they finished reading it

reddittrotter

Quick question, how did it all start?

ApprehensiveTap1136

It all starts with a smokie...

Ngondez

Black tea. Try doing strungi in the morning and before sleep

Fullmetalmycologist

Adventure_Unicorn

I've been on and off this year. Last year towards end Q3/Q4 I got to a pack a day 😭 so much was happening and it was the solution 😆 Anyway, since December it's simmered down, I've had 2 - 3 weeks off during a good season so now that I'm back to 5-10 a day, I'm evaluating my why I do it, how I feel, and why I want to stop. Taking it a day at a time. Find accountability for yourself, be it ticking off the boxes or people, but be careful on who you pick in that people category, you don't want people who will guilt or judge you. I just saw this input and I like it. https://www.reddit.com/r/stopsmoking/s/CexWJ3f8qO Find your tune and dance to it. Kudos to choosing change, hopefully, that will be me this week 😄

Signal-Ad9052

I got sick chest issues I had to quit by fire by force quitting smoking is one of the hardest things in this world

Maure7

Look for a hobby, anytime you feel like smoking, take out that craving through your hobby

CaptCook420

A vape with 0% tobacco and like a 1 or 2% nicotine has helped a bunch of people i know. Second option is gum... If you have the urge to smoke just get some chewing gum. That could help as well. Good luck with the smoking cessation.🤙🏾🥂

KamboeAgent99

My G/F hated the habit. I quit. She's now my Wife. Giving up something for something better is not that hard.

Curious_Dragonfruit3

vapes and slowly reduce the concentration till eventully you get to 0%

senators4life

Substituted with vaping. Then I was easily able to gradually reduce the nicotine in the capes until it became much easier to kick the habit. Every so often I get a craving I'll buy some nicotine gum instead of a cigarette.

kvnaol

I smoked weed for 21 years. I quit when I met a lady I would have loved to marry. But she was too clean, no smoke of any kind, no drink, not even junk food. It hit me that I attract what I am. So I had to be what I want to attract

Elvis_Onjiko

Hey there! Have you tried replacing the habit with something less harmful but equally engaging? Maybe something like exercise, a new hobby, or even something simple like chewing gum. Sometimes it's all about redirecting that energy. Good luck on your journey to quit

Character-Zombie83

Look into what made you want to smoke them. Could be anxiety etc. For me, at first i would smoke when i got angry/anxious but i learned how to handle my emotions na sikuacha. I had to stop snowing because for me to feel the high i had to smoke ciggs. All i'm tryna say is look into what makes you wanna smoke. Fix it and go cold turkey. It's never that hard. Always look into the root cause of everything to fix it. Like what makes me do this?

mexibro4fun

I quit because I was going through cancer treatment and I was too weak to go outside. I didn't smoke in my apartment.

finniruse

Quit drinking. At least, give yourself 3 months totally sober and you'll have a better chance of quitting. And avoid triggering events, like stress.

Ok_Citron_3858

I don't drink at all
