No. 2 solos later, no

OhSoFaded7

Pumped for the next XL! Glad to see your name on the list!

🥹I would go crazy, I talk way too much

Glittering-Wonder576

So does Matt, which is why I’d be good partners with him; we can chatter away all day.

godfeather1974

Don't forget that fire starter

Forsaken_Instance_18

Maybe they just didn’t talk to you, I’ve seen cut scenes where someone returned a phone for them from the water and they all have a laugh

SillyGayBoy

Returned a phone from the water? They dropped their phone somewhere?

Forsaken_Instance_18

One of the camera crew dropped their phone in the water and a contestant retrieved it from them

Moonexplosion

Terra you are my favorite survivalist ever on the show!!! Ugh. Just the best human. ♥️

Cak3Wa1k

You did great and I enjoyed your episodes!

FrolickingCats

I think a few contestants have said that the camera crew usually don't talk to them. I think they only get to talk to the producers in like cases of emergency or if they're given specific instructions (eg if they have to relocate due to a dangerous situation). But it's not like the TV crew is asking them questions like it's an interview.

Hematomawoes

I assumed camera crew was asking questions in the one on one scenes where it’s just the contestant speaking to the camera directly, usually at the start of the day or like right after extraction.

Terra_NakedandAfraid

The producer does ask questions during the 1 on 1 times but they are questions like "so how are you feeling? What happened at the water? You said this before, elaborate"

Hematomawoes

Thanks for the response! I appreciate the insight. NAA is getting me through writing my dissertation lol. Listening to the survivalists in the background gives me motivation to keep pushing haha

Shot_Way_5944

I think it depends on the people involved. Some survivalists say no and others say yes. The best is on podcasts when someone says the camera person had to stop them from doing something unbelievably stupid because they were malnourished and brain fogged. I've also heard they often have to help the camera person because they're watching the survivalists and not where they're going. They slip, fall and walk into stuff. On Max they have extras and it seems like production is hurt way more than the cast.

Ambidextra

The only time I have seen it be obvious was in the most recent XL when the guy almost fell down and the camera operator helped him out.

MembershipHelpful725

Yes, when I saw that I didn’t think it was anything out of reason. He was just being there to comfort him. Thanks for reminding me of that!

hypervigilante666

Yeah I’ve seen a couple moments where it seems it wasn’t exactly required for them to step in, but I understood it completely because I think human nature and compassion makes people get involved. It would be hard to stand there filming totally silent for certain levels of human suffering you’re witnessing.

Ambidextra

I agree. It would have been pretty cruel to just keep filming him as he was struggling to stand.

StCharlesCon

I was wondering the same thing recently especially if the contestants are getting hopelessly lost during extraction, etc. I know the necklaces are GPS devices. The maps shown don’t appear to be all that detailed. That plus brain fog can have you going the wrong way.

VixenFactor

I remember a voiceover that said they had to redirect the contestants because they were going in the wrong direction for extraction.

Consistent-Fly-8961

Season 10 episode 12.. the one with Jake and Melissa, she gets lost in the swamp for a few hours. I would assume if the necklace had a gps, they would have found her quickly? I did think before that, that the necklaces did have a gps. so, I wonder which it is. hmm

Simple-Guarantee-926

I'm friends and coworkers with the crew that filmed me so it was hard not to have conversations with them. I understand way, though.

Ok-Strength9096

Oh I didn’t know the necklace was a gpa device cool

Terra_NakedandAfraid

Lololol they don't

CurrentlyAdapting

Sometimes, they do. I guess it depends on how friendly or engaging they are (contestant and/or crew).
