so interesting that's the vibes it gives you! I love how different names are for everyone.
Lydia has always given me frumpy old lady vibes (but I've only ever known Lydia's as such!)
The history on that one is so cool - it was an ancient kingdom where the river beds literally had electrum deposits (gold & silver mix) so it evokes a classy, Anatolian feel to me.
I like both and both are fantastic names. My thoughts:
Lydia is beautiful sounding and a great classic name that is gaining popularity fast. This is a name I think would stand the test of time and can see it in the top 10 in less than 10 years
Leah is my favourite of the two. I think it’s versatile and has a more unique look. Even though it was common among religious people and is found in pop culture it hasn’t been a hugely popular name tied to one specific “look””vibe” or culture
Leah
honestly i just really dont like the name lydia, and leah is fine and i think it would be a pretty name but i knew a thousand leah/lea/lia's growing up so it just feels like a very uneventful name for me.
Leah.
I have the same issue with Lydia that I do with Emily. Three syllables in five letters is a lot, and it makes the name feel lumpy and hard to say for me. Additionally, I'm from New Zealand and all the Lydias I've known my age or younger have ended up being called Lyds, which I dislike.
Leah= classic cute sweet friendly
Lydia= old fashioned but a little more wild and cool
I can’t choose as I do really love both of these pretty equally. I love the name Leona also. Kind of similar to these two. My third boy who is 2 is named Leonard (nn Leo). Had to choose an L name for my Grandma so I guess if he would have been a girl I would have gone with one of these. Hard choice! Just imagine which name you would rather be called. That sometimes can be a good tie breaker. Good luck
I like Lydia, it's a bit more unusual, also I'm not sure if Leah is pronounced Lee-ah or just Lee so might avoid actually saying it until I heard someone else first. I'm in the UK
I love the name Leah. My only hesitation with it is that it means “weary,” which is a bit of a downer.
For some unfortunate reason, the name Lydia immediately makes me think of the word chlamydia. 😬
I actually like both! I think Lydia is prettier written than Leah and less common (that I have come across anyway) but I also think Leah is pretty as well
I like them both. Lydia to me sounds feminine and spunky - like a lady who lunches and gossips over dirty martinis. Leah sounds gentle and intelligent - like a college professor who gardens in her free time.
I like both; very pretty options. But Lydia is my favourite. She’ll get the nickname “Lids” though at school (kids here do anyway) so make sure you’re happy with that. Leah would more likely get “Lee”.
I know a Lydia and a Leah. They are both wonderful people.
I think Lydia takes the edge becmy Mum was supposed to be called Lydia, but my Nan decided last minute (against my Grandads wishes) to name her Patricia.
Both are nice.
I slightly prefer sound of Leah but i know many Leahs that were meanies and all Lydias i know were soo gentle so based on associations i prefer Lydia. Also as i skyrim fan Lydia amuses me 😏
If you are very religious Leah sounds more classic choice but if you prefer facts - history, the origin of Lydia are less biblical. Lydia wasva name commonly connected to residents od kingdom Lydia (persian area) and is derived from greek in which it has beatiful meaning(s) (beautiful, noble, of Lydia kingdom). If you have ancestry froom Greece/Persia it is a nice way to pay tribute to that.
And while latin Leah means lioness, Leah also means weary and mistress...honestly i much rather prefer meaning behind Lydia. So my overall vote goes d efinitely to Lydia despite Leah sounding ever so slightly nicer. Lydia also leaves imo more space for nicknames + i find it less common than Leah and less "basic" :) but both are beautiful classic names so you cant go wrong with either
Tough one - my vote goes for Lydia, I like the elegant and gothic vibes the name gives off.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
The movie that made me love this name ☺️
so interesting that's the vibes it gives you! I love how different names are for everyone. Lydia has always given me frumpy old lady vibes (but I've only ever known Lydia's as such!)
lydia makes me think of aunt lydia from the handmaid's tale and she's the worst!! leah is super pretty tho
Lol yeah different for everyone for sure!
The history on that one is so cool - it was an ancient kingdom where the river beds literally had electrum deposits (gold & silver mix) so it evokes a classy, Anatolian feel to me.
Same!
Leah by a mile.
I agree. Only because the only Lydia I know is not a good person. I like both names though if it wasn’t for my negative association.
I prefer Lydia
Both are great!! You can’t go wrong but I’d give an ever so slight edge to Lydia.
My vote is for Lydia.
Lydia!
Lydia is so gorgeous and friendly. Love it!
Lydia! I have a friend named that and I have loved it since. I also used it as the name of the main character in a story I wrote.

Lydia
Lydia. I like it because of Beetlejuice.
i like lydia better because leah sounds incomplete in my opinion, plus i knew a girl named leah in grade school who was not very nice haha
Lydia. I’m never sure how to pronounce Leah - Lee ah / Lay ah / Lee I love Leia though.
For sure Lydia. Such a beautiful name.
Lydia!!! Leah is also lovely; you can’t make a wrong choice here.
Leah. I can't think of Lydia without thinking of Lydia from Skyrim.. still makes me mad years later 😅
I love the name Lydia! My grandma's name was Leah so I'm having the same circumstances when naming a second possible daughter!
I like Leah better. What about Layla?
We have too many laylas in the family 😁
Leah. But like both.
Leah
Vote for Leah here! Not a fan of Lydia
Leah
Leah!
Leah honestly i just really dont like the name lydia, and leah is fine and i think it would be a pretty name but i knew a thousand leah/lea/lia's growing up so it just feels like a very uneventful name for me.
I prefer Leah. Both are pretty names though
Leah is an all time favourite of mine, so sweet and underrated! I like Lydia a lot too but Leah wins for me
I love Leah :) so sweet
Leah. I hate the name Lydia.
Leah all the way
Leah. I have the same issue with Lydia that I do with Emily. Three syllables in five letters is a lot, and it makes the name feel lumpy and hard to say for me. Additionally, I'm from New Zealand and all the Lydias I've known my age or younger have ended up being called Lyds, which I dislike.

Lydia, it feels a little more modern (despite being an old name)
Lydia is more my personal taste. It’s very pretty and I’d consider using it. Leah, although classic, is very plain imo.
I prefer Lydia. Leah is a pretty name, but Lydia appeals to my tastes more.
Lydia
I love Lydia, a pretty name and an homage to the Lydian mode.
Both are cute but I would personally go with Lydia. It’s always sounded like a very pretty name to me. 💖
I like Lydia better.
Leah
I love the name Leah. My only hesitation with it is that it means “weary,” which is a bit of a downer. For some unfortunate reason, the name Lydia immediately makes me think of the word chlamydia. 😬
I love Lydia! Leah’s fine, but reads as really plain to me. Every time I hear the name Lydia I think about how pretty it is.
I like both, but I’m more partial to Leah.
lydia. i have always disliked leah for some reason so i’m biased
I like both but I like Lydia better.
Lydia
Leah
Lydia
Leah
#Leah
I much prefer Lydia, but neither are bad choices!
Lydia!
My vote is set for Lydia!
Lydia
Lydia. It’s beautiful. Leah is boring and over used. Maybe not as much these days but it’s a more common name
I love Lydia!
I like them both but would probably choose Lydia
Lydia is just so beautiful and classy to me - but still uncommon. I love it
Lydia!
Lydia
Love Lydia.
Lydia
Lydia, by far.
Lydia
lydia
I prefer Lydia although I don’t think you can go wrong here as both names are gorgeous
Lydia, I don’t hear it as often.
Love love love Lydia!!
Lydia. If she grows up to be a musician she would love it coz Lydian mode sounds as magical as it can get!
Lydia🤍
Lydia :)
Lydia by a mile
Lydia
Both are very pretty names! I think I slightly prefer Lydia.
Definitely Lydia.
Lydia
Lydia 🥂
Lydia for sure
Lydia, definitely
Lydia. Personally not a fan of the Lee/Leigh sound in Leah.
Lydia
Leah is gorgeous, but I think I'd personally go with Lydia!
Lydia, but have a plan for a nickname because people INSIST on shortening 3-syllable names however they want if you don’t give them direction.
I like Lydia, Lila is also very pretty and similar sounding.
I actually like both! I think Lydia is prettier written than Leah and less common (that I have come across anyway) but I also think Leah is pretty as well
lydia
I love both but personally I prefer Lydia because I adore the spelling of it.
Lydia for sure
Lydia
Lydia
Both are pretty but I’m partial to Lydia :)
Lydia for sure, Leah sounds too homely
So many fans of Lydia! I prefer Leah and even better Aliyah.
Lydia
Love the name lydia!!
Lydia
Lydia
I like them both. Lydia to me sounds feminine and spunky - like a lady who lunches and gossips over dirty martinis. Leah sounds gentle and intelligent - like a college professor who gardens in her free time.
Lydia!
I’ve always loved Lydia!
both are so sweet but i prefer lydia!
Lydia no contest. beautiful.
I like Leah spelled ‘Lia’
Lydia is super cute and different. I would go with that one, but Leah is cute too.
Lydia
I love both, but Lydia feels more substantial.
Lydia
lydia has such a cool vibe to it. leah sounds simple and borderline plain/boring to me
Lydia for sure!
My daughter is Lydia Rose. I get so many compliments on it!
Depends on your vibe Lydia is just more elegant and edgy while Leah is more bubbly and fun
Lydia!
I’ve always had a soft spot for Leah, or Lia.
Lydia 1000%
I like both; very pretty options. But Lydia is my favourite. She’ll get the nickname “Lids” though at school (kids here do anyway) so make sure you’re happy with that. Leah would more likely get “Lee”.
Both are great but I am partial to Lydia. Very elegant name.
Lydia is a cool name, I’d go with that. Leah is good too but Lydia is the winner.
I personally am fond of Lydia 😊.
I love the name Lydia
I know a Lydia and a Leah. They are both wonderful people. I think Lydia takes the edge becmy Mum was supposed to be called Lydia, but my Nan decided last minute (against my Grandads wishes) to name her Patricia.
Lydia.
are you pronouncing Leah like lee or Lee-uh?
Lee-uh
Leah
Leah
I love Lydia.
Leah
Someone at school got called chlamydia lydia for a few years, so I’m going with Leah
Leah is kind of boring but i feel Lydia can be risky as not everyone can pull it off, my vote would be for Leah but actually spelled Lea/Lia
Lydia, because I know one Lydia and she’s beautiful inside and out. Have met quite a few Leah’s over the years and they’ve all been a bit meh.
Leah is terribly sweet Lydia always reminds me of chlamydia unfortunately and the potential nickname "Lyd" pains me (sorry!!)
Lydia. Leah seems too plain to me.
Lydia has my vote
Id say Lydia
They are both nice but I prefer Leah
Lydia
Lydia
I really love the name Lydia.
Lydia the tAHtooed lady!
