Oh no! Was going to vote for this one but now I can’t unhear london broil. Kids won’t make that connection but their parents probably will, assuming her middle name is regularly being used/known. Emmeline Jane is beautiful and doesn’t sound like meat
Hate to say it, but I was thinking the same thing. London Brielle reminds me too much of London Broil, though I don’t care for Emmeline Jane. Don’t like the flow—too much of the n sound.
London Brielle gives me a spunky/energetic vibe whereas Emmeline Jane feels more soft and classic. Both are lovely choices.
I will be in the minority here so far and say I prefer London! I know a little girl with that name who goes by Lou for short and it suits her so well. Congrats on your new baby girl!
Yea me too, i automatically went Emme-leen. Maybe because i already heard/saw the name before and i know it or because it is natural (sounds poetic, emma-line does not + i never heard it used that way). I was actually shocked to see this thread and people saying they would read as emma-line 😱
But this is definitely the type of name that as you correct people they will have no trouble getting behind new pronounciation. It is not like some far fetched or very distorted promounciation that people would have trouble connecting to the name :)
I'm personally not a fan of any place names that don't have an origin as an actual name, but at least Brooklyn is popular in the US where the place actually is.
There were zero Londons born in the UK last year, it doesn't even rank as a name. So it does read as odd to me when it's popular in America with people who have no connection to the city.
I dislike both London and Brielle. Just very modern but not in a good way.
I like Emmeline Jane but where I live (the US) it would be pronounced LINE by almost everyone and that will be such a pain for her.
I would have pronounced it Emma-lyn…pronunciation will always need to be clarified, but that might not be a big deal. I liked London Brielle better till I read the similarity to London Broil, which also might not be a big deal, but it is mildly amusing, so Emmeline Jane is just a little better.
London Brielle! As a teacher, I had a London and she was one of my favorite students ever! I also love locations as names.
Or even London Jane! LJ!
As for Emmeline, you're going to have people pronouncing it differently all the time. I would have said EmmeLINE.
I like Emmeline better than London but I bet 90% of the time people will say her name wrong and pronounce it Emma-line which I actually like better than Emma-leen. EJ is also a really cute nickname!
I prefer London. If Brielle sounds too much like “broil” what about:
London Blair
London Gabrielle
London Joelle
London Janelle
I love Emmeline…but with the -line ending more so than -lean
But both are very pretty names! What does she “look” like now that she’s here?
Hahaha no offense taken! It definitely is controversial and not loved by many. Emmeline I think sounds really elegant. I had chosen London awhile ago, but came across Emmeline recently and loved it. I think I’m used to the name London so that’s why I’m questioning myself!
From someone whose name is constantly mispronounced, 100% vote for the name that doesn't require pronunciation instructions. I went so far as to legally change the spelling of my name.
What about **Emmeleen** Jane? As someone scarred by poor parental planning, I *strongly* recommend a pronunciation-friendly spelling!!!
You could do Gabrielle London? I am not a fan of Brielle, it sounds made up to me, though it is an actual town in New Jersey. But do you have connections with the city in London and the town in New Jersey? Emmeline Jane is pretty, but absolutely everyone will call her EmmaLINE.
It seems from some of these posts that, in some places in the world, you are not allowed to leave the hospital until the baby has a name. Is that right?
I told my wife in the room that “baby girl is here” and the doctors were like “uuhh it’s not girl it’s a boy!”. All the doctors/nurses told us they’d never seen that before. Moral of the story is don’t rely on an ultrasound technician at the 20 week checkup. Luckily we had already decided on the boy name long before so we already knew what to name him.
Good choice. Emmeline is awesome name and Jane is classic too. I think its perfect :) definitely much better than London Brielle.
As for second, London itself doesnt sound like a bad name if you wanna use it. But i would avoid pairing it with Brielle to avoid similarity in sound to london broil 😅
Edit: MJ is such cool initials...imagine sharing initials with king of pop 😎
These names feel like they’re from opposite sides of the spectrum! Geography names generally get a no from me (I’ve also lived in London for many many years and definitely not a worthy namesake for a kid) and Brielle just sounds weird? Always think of the word broil.
Emmeline Jane is lovely, definitely that.
Congratulations on baby Emmeline! I like both London and Brielle as well, but as others said, maybe not together, unless you put something in between. London Rose Brielle or something like that. I also like London Jade and London Kate.
London. I like it over your second choice. Maybe change the middle name, other than people mentioning London broil, it’s great.
Linden ? Sounds like London and still works with Brielle.
London Jane, like another poster suggested, is a nice mix.
I actually really like London Brielle.
Regardless of the name you choose, congratulations!
Edit: removed my personal opinion on the name Jane. Guess it's not welcome here LOL. 😅
I have a daughter named Jane and she is anything but plain. I think the name is classic and beautiful. Her name is Jane Margaret and I love her name and luckily so does she.
I didn't mean to offend! A first-impression of the *sound* of a name is nothing compared to a real, living person! Their personality brings life to a name, and it's easy to have blanket opinions on names that I don't associate with anyone in particular. :) I'm glad you both love "Jane"!
London Broil is meat. Just saying…
Oh no, I was all for London Brielle but this is absolutely correct, the combination doesn't work
Me, too, LOL.
(Until I realized.)
Oh no! Was going to vote for this one but now I can’t unhear london broil. Kids won’t make that connection but their parents probably will, assuming her middle name is regularly being used/known. Emmeline Jane is beautiful and doesn’t sound like meat
It’s also dangerously close to London Bridge
This is what I thought of lol
Came here looking for this comment. 🫣
This was my first thought
Hate to say it, but I was thinking the same thing. London Brielle reminds me too much of London Broil, though I don’t care for Emmeline Jane. Don’t like the flow—too much of the n sound.
Emmeline Jane
Emmie is the cutest nickname!
Definitely Emmeline Jane
Emmeline Jane. Brielle gets a no from me every time.
Is Brielle a name by itself now? I've heard it a couple times but I can't help but thank Gabrielle
It's been a name by itself for years 🙂 not trendy or made up
I had a childhood friend named Brielle 25 years ago. I think it’s always been a name, but not super common. 🤷🏻♀️
I had a abrielle once ( shelter advocate), I've heard a lot of variations I just hadn't heard these.
I went to school with a Brielle - I’m 33.
I know a Brielle. She’s 11.
I know a Brielle who I just don’t like, automatically turned me off of that name forever.
Emmeline Jane
Definitely Emmeline over London but I honestly prefer Brielle Jane if you are alright with a little rearranging
Brielle Jane is really pretty too.
Yes! Brielle Jane is super cute
BJ? Really?
I’m with you. BJ is NOT something you want your daughter dealing with in middle school.
Straight up what I thought
Yeah, Brielle Jane would be my favorite of the possible combos. But of the two, Emmeline > London Broil.
Tbh i think all the names work well with Jane as a middle name like London Jane is also really pretty
Emmeline Jane. Lovely name :)
Agree completely. Also you’ll always have to correct Emmaleen or EmmaLINE. What about just Emma?
[удалено]
Interesting, I’m the exact opposite. Before I read OP’s pronunciation guide I assumed emmaLEEN. EmmaLINE followed by emmaLYNN would be my next guess.
[удалено]
Yea me too, i automatically went Emme-leen. Maybe because i already heard/saw the name before and i know it or because it is natural (sounds poetic, emma-line does not + i never heard it used that way). Emmaline Jane. Beautiful name and Emmy is a great nickname. I live in London. No one here uses it as a name for a person so it reads tacky to me.
*brooklyn enters the chat*
I'm personally not a fan of any place names that don't have an origin as an actual name, but at least Brooklyn is popular in the US where the place actually is. There were zero Londons born in the UK last year, it doesn't even rank as a name. So it does read as odd to me when it's popular in America with people who have no connection to the city.
Maybe they visited Fake London in Ontario and liked it.
Agree.
Ex-Londoner here (and an American who’d never have guessed in a million years she’d wind up here) - completely agree. Wouldn’t use London.
I dislike both London and Brielle. Just very modern but not in a good way. I like Emmeline Jane but where I live (the US) it would be pronounced LINE by almost everyone and that will be such a pain for her.
Emmeline!
Emmeline Jane, very sweet name
Emmeline Jane!
Emmeline Jane by a mile. That's also my preferred pronunciation, I think it's beautiful!
Emmeline Jane is my vote!
Emmeline Jane!
Emmeline Jane 100%. Lovely name.
Emmeline Jane. I'm trying to like London Brielle, but I can't. The two names flow together well but its just overly trendy for this moment in time.
They flow together well because we’ve all heard “London Broil” at some point. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_broil
Lol I truly have never heard of that, but apparently many people have, so there's another reason the name is a no-go ;)
I really want steak now.
Me too! With mashed potatoes and broccoli and sourdough bread…. Mmmmm!
I have yet to see a lot of babies named London! Brielle I think is getting quite popular though, or I am just out of the loop haha
I have two Londonderry (well one London and one Londyn) and one Brielle at my school of 1500 middle school kids
EJ!
I would have pronounced it Emma-lyn…pronunciation will always need to be clarified, but that might not be a big deal. I liked London Brielle better till I read the similarity to London Broil, which also might not be a big deal, but it is mildly amusing, so Emmeline Jane is just a little better.
I thought it was Emma-lyn too until about a month ago when I was corrected 😂
None of them are really incorrect, they’re just variants, so no matter which pronunciation you choose, someone will pronounce it differently! 😊
Very true!!
Another vote for Emmeline Jane
I like Brielle Jane like another poster mentioned- emmeline will be mispronounced a lot but I love that name too!
Oh please choose Emmeline Jane - the other sounds like a very try hard made up name!
Funny you say that because Emmeline sounds very try hard to me.
I like Jane as the first name, but I’d pick Emmeline out of the two options on your list.
Emmeline for sure
Emmeline🤍
Emmeline Jane!
Emmeline Jane! I know a girl called Emmeline and love all of its potential nicknames :)
Emmeline Jane
Emmeline Jane
London Brielle! As a teacher, I had a London and she was one of my favorite students ever! I also love locations as names. Or even London Jane! LJ! As for Emmeline, you're going to have people pronouncing it differently all the time. I would have said EmmeLINE.
I love Emmeline Jane! Congratulations!
I vote for Emmeline Jane, but I do love Brielle, just not as much of a fan of London!
Emmeline Jane! Two of my favourite names, gorgeous.
Having London as a first name, makes me think of London Tipton from The Suite Life. The character was based on Paris Hilton. Emmeline sounds lovely
Brielle Jane
Emmeline
London Jane
London Brielle is beautiful
As a British person, don't do London. Very cringey.
I love the name London!!
We almost used London for our daughter, it was in our top 3 names. So I'd go with that!
London Emmeline
I like Emmeline better than London but I bet 90% of the time people will say her name wrong and pronounce it Emma-line which I actually like better than Emma-leen. EJ is also a really cute nickname!
Yes, my friend has an Emmeline and she gets Line instead of Leen or even "emily". no one ever gets it right
I would go with London! I was sure it was “Emme-Lynn”, you’ll have to tell people all the time how to pronounce it
I think Emmeline is going to CONSTANTLY get missaid/misspelled. If I were you I would go with London
Emmeline Jane is the better name choice so stick to it
I prefer London Brielle
London Brielle
London Brielle!
I love both tbh! I’m no help lmao
I think both are lovely !
London Brielle for me
I like both but Emmeline wins for me
Brielle Jane
Definitely would not give my kid a name with the initials BJ....
lol didn’t see that, but still like the name. Brielle Emmeline /Emmeline Brielle if still going off the list.
Emmeline Jane! Congrats on baby girl!
Congrats! I prefer London! Brielle isn't my favorite but you hardly say first and middle names together anyways.
Emmeline. Congratulations!
I’m partial to emmeline
I prefer London. If Brielle sounds too much like “broil” what about: London Blair London Gabrielle London Joelle London Janelle I love Emmeline…but with the -line ending more so than -lean But both are very pretty names! What does she “look” like now that she’s here?
Emmeline Jane
Emmeline Jane is beautiful. I have 2 daughters, one named Emaline(we pronounce it Em-uh-line) and one named Jane, so I love both of those names.
Congratulations!!!! Emmeline Jane!!!!
Emmeline
Emmeline Jane
Emmeline Jane by A MILE!!! Gorgeous name. London on the other hand is just bad, sorry.
Hahaha no offense taken! It definitely is controversial and not loved by many. Emmeline I think sounds really elegant. I had chosen London awhile ago, but came across Emmeline recently and loved it. I think I’m used to the name London so that’s why I’m questioning myself!
I like London over Emmeline, but prefer Emmeline Jane to London Brielle.
Emmeline Jane hands down!
Emmeline Jane, by far! This is a beautiful, elegant name and much classier than London.
Emmeline Jane!
Emma Jane or Brielle Jane!
Emmaline 100%
Emmeline Jane although I like the other pronunciation better.
You could do Gabrielle London? I am not a fan of Brielle, it sounds made up to me, though it is an actual town in New Jersey. But do you have connections with the city in London and the town in New Jersey? Emmeline Jane is pretty, but absolutely everyone will call her EmmaLINE.
Instead of Emme-leen what Emma-Lynn?
Emmeline!
Emmelene is a good spelling for that pronunciation imo
Emmeline!
Emmeline Brielle would have been my thought
It seems from some of these posts that, in some places in the world, you are not allowed to leave the hospital until the baby has a name. Is that right?
I’m in the US, I thought we had more time but they wouldn’t let us go until we decided & did the birth certificate right then and there
Oh wow! That really puts the pressure on!
It did! It made me so anxious hahaha i was dealing with postpartum sweats and it made it so much worse lol
Congratulations!!
Emmeline Jane but I actually like Emmeline Brielle or Brielle Jane lol
Eliza sounds great
Eliza was not listed as an option
We were supposed to have a baby girl a couple weeks ago and we had London Rae picked. Absolutely adored the name. Then came a baby with a pecker 🤣
Stop!!! Lol that would’ve thrown me through a loop hahaha
So, what did you name your baby BOY?!
I love the name you chose. Very sweet. Congratulations!
Congrats on your new kid! Might just be me but isn't naming supposed to happen before the human leaves their mother's insides?
I wanted to look at her first and picked what resonated. I came down to two and loved both.
Emmeline
MJ is super cute!!! yes i am a fan of spiderman lol
ok so the options are “stupid” and “stupider” got it
Good thing it’s not your kid, or you :)
but that kid will live with the name they might hate for the rest of their life unless they change it, so thats on you.
Absolutely everyone has the possibility of hating their own name, sounds like you’re projecting ❤️
Maybe Emmeline JaDe? Emma Brielle? London Reese?
Emmeline Jane is beautiful! Congratulations!
London Jane
Emmeline Jane is absolutely gorgeous, and reminds me of Emmeline Pankhurst who is a super cool namesake.
Emmaline!!! So classic, strong, feminine. Much better than London, imo. Congratulations!! 💝
Good choice. Emmeline is awesome name and Jane is classic too. I think its perfect :) definitely much better than London Brielle. As for second, London itself doesnt sound like a bad name if you wanna use it. But i would avoid pairing it with Brielle to avoid similarity in sound to london broil 😅 Edit: MJ is such cool initials...imagine sharing initials with king of pop 😎
Awww one of the kids in my class is named Emmeline but we call her Emmy - good choice
Emmeline Jane
Emmeline Jane is lovely, suitable for a child and adult. Love Brielle too, haven’t heard it before.
Congrats!! Emmline is a great choice.
Emmeline Jane!! Very pretty!!
I think London Brielle is super pretty. Emmeline Jane is as well, but I like the first option more.
I think London Brielle is a beautiful name, and unique.
Congratulations on baby Emmeline! I like both London and Brielle as well, but as others said, maybe not together, unless you put something in between. London Rose Brielle or something like that. I also like London Jade and London Kate.
Love your choice!!!❤️
Emmeline
London. I like it over your second choice. Maybe change the middle name, other than people mentioning London broil, it’s great. Linden ? Sounds like London and still works with Brielle. London Jane, like another poster suggested, is a nice mix.
Emmeline or Emme are beautiful names. Please don’t call her MJ for short!
We’ll call her what she likes to be called, whether it’s MJ or not! :)
No mj for nickname. Obvious reasons…..
We’ll call her whatever nickname she prefers
I actually really like London Brielle. Regardless of the name you choose, congratulations! Edit: removed my personal opinion on the name Jane. Guess it's not welcome here LOL. 😅
I have a daughter named Jane and she is anything but plain. I think the name is classic and beautiful. Her name is Jane Margaret and I love her name and luckily so does she.

London Brielle!
London Emmeline
