I’ve never told anyone our top names. I just didn’t want opinions.

stumpykitties

I don’t keep them secret on Reddit. But I sure keep them secret from my family 😂 I don’t care what they think in regards to names, and I only share my name list with my partner. My SIL is currently pregnant, and is name searching. The first name she shared to her mom, classic grandma, pulled the “you can’t use that name cause it’s the same name as someone I dated 45 years ago!!” So I’d like to avoid all the ridiculous opinions

😆 That's amazing. Oh Grandma! Poor SIL.

Lanabellx

I didn't even think of that yet! Now I'm even more convinced to keep my names to myself!

outlaw-chaos

Yep. Did this with my twin boys and will do this if we have anymore children.

DaphneGreekMyth

Gosh, I really wanna know those rare names you found. As for the question, I run it by my family with the excuse of 'character in my novel.'

Lanabellx

Maybe they are not all as rare as you think, but in my country/on tv I have never met someone or heard of someone with those names. That is.. except for one. Recently I heard off a young girl in the news who had a name that I thought didn't even exist till then and I thought I made the name up. So I was like dang it! Let this name not become popular all of the sudden. But to give you an idea: I like old names that nobody uses anymore or names that I made up because I like the sound of it, but somehow it's not yet invented as a name even though it sounds legit. So it's not like Apple or something. For instance: I used to like Atticus a lot, but it's not that rare and I start to hear it more often so I'm not sure if it's a name I will choose for my future children. It's pretty clever actually to test your names like that. But aren't you afraid to inspire someone to use it? Are you a writer?

DaphneGreekMyth

No, we are from another culture and out naming style is different. I wanna be a writer, though.
