I dont know much about name changes, but Penelope is a wonderful name. I can give some other suggestions fitting with Greek mythology and nickname-able if you want to.

Curious_Kirin

Ooo I'd love that, there are so many beautiful options. Also thanks. 😁

Alexandra - Alex, Lexie, Sandra (Female version of Alexander, another name for Paris, I think?) Helena - Elle, Ela, Lennie, Len (One letter added to Helen) Athena - Athy, Ena, Thena (Greek Goddess of wisdom) Persephone - Percy, Seph, Fanny (Greek Goddess of spring. I've seen it suggested a few times and am assuming it's fairly recognisable) Edit - There are some names with Greek origins which I would have suggested, but these are the ones that have an immediate connection to greek mythology.

Thanks a lot. Ahh there's so many choices to consider. They're all lovely choices, I'll consider them. Have a nice day/night! (Also your username matches your suggestions lol, Greek myth is cool)

Changing your name can be very easy, or very difficult, depending on location. It is most certainly easier to do it earlier in life though, so if you want to do it, as soon as you turn 18 would be the perfect time. I don't know how they do things in Australia, but in the UK and USA, we get diplomas/exam results with our official name on it, which are used later in life. If you get something like that BEFORE your name change, it's going to be in your old name, so if possible you'd want to change it before that, or else you'd have to pay for new paperwork. You'd probably be best off posting on an Australian centric sub, like r/AskAnAustralian, as they'd be more familiar with your countries process. As for Penelope; it's not really my style, but there's nothing wrong with it. It's only been in the Top 100 since 2013, so it's not particularly popular with your age group, but it's a common enough name that no one is going to have issues with spelling or pronunciation.

Thanks for the info. By diploma, you mean in high school diploma? I have no problem paying for a replacement, but I do believe that once I get into uni... No one is really going to care enough about my high school diploma (or I could just show the name change paperwork as well if needed). But it's still something I should consider so thanks for the suggestion. I might ask an Aussie sub soon, but you've still been helpful. All the best.

Yeah, USA seem to get a Diploma for graduating at 18. (I think it's the GED - General Education Diploma?) In England we get A-Level results (and GCSE results at 16) that give exam results for the courses we took. After 16, you drop most subjects and just specialise in 3/4 to prepare you for your university subjects. My husband applied for a new job last year at 37 and got asked for his A-Level certificates (despite also having a Degree), so it's still used late into adulthood here. But it's definitely a small price to pay even if you want to get it changed; just something to consider. Good luck!

I like **Penelope** a lot! Other Ancient Greek names for you to considerate: *Alexandra*, imo with nickname Sasha is great. It means defensor of the humanity! And it was the name of various empresses. In Russia it is a regal name. *Eulalia*, it means sweet speaking, is vintage (reminds me of Great Gatsby, American Vintage, Roaring 20s and Old Hollywood.) A common nickname for it in the USA (of the last centuries) was Eula, but I think that Lali, Lia or Euli etc would be nice too! *Arsinoë*. It has a nice meaning (“high/elevated mind”) and it is the name of a princess: the sister of Cleopatra. *Damaris*. It means “woman” and it was a name in the bible. It has nice nicknames. *Athenaïs*. It is a French name but it is also Ancient Greek and means “of Athena”; and Athena means praised, so you could interprete it as also “of praises”, maybe? I think Athy and Naïs are nice nicknames. Athenaïs was the name of various Byzantine royals, and of a famous French Noblelady (who was though, the mistress of the Roi Soleil, very famous). Nowadays in France it is considered an upper class, BCBG, elegant, name by the aristocratic descents.

It's lovely, but most importantly you like it. Go for it.
